Can we have more realistic expendable camouflages to buy in the game?
SkollUlfr replied to ___V_E_N_O_M___'s topic in General Discussion
the devs would look at implementing this feature only for the corpo to demand the rgb values are put behind a slot machine for 500 gold a spin. i and many others have been suggesting expanding on this for half a decade now, including allowing realistic camo mod makers to put their stuff in the store as perma camo. but its not a gambling crate, so the wg corpo dont want it. -
Solumn petition to WG re: access to ranked
SkollUlfr replied to Camperdown's topic in General Discussion
the only way to improve ranked would be to have an ai driven player skill assessment system that was as clever as the players in spotting effective play and actions and identify key plays in a game. i dont doubt the devs could do this, and to a level that they could field bots to trash player teams if they wanted. in the past i would have viewed deploying such as toxic to the game, but as it stands, it would be an improvement in context of the mmorpg p2w monetisation wg corpo are pushing.- 76 replies

this isnt so much the map needing less skill as it is the failing game mechanics excluding skill. to add to the prime suspects of bad mechanics i listed above, my experience with ocean involved fire spam from everything. and dot mechanics in this game are complete trash that only just about functioned when it was just usn v ijn. now they need ripped out and replaced.

massive built in aim assist that takes the skill out of ranging, comedy dispersion reduction that gives ww2 ships their own precision guided bolter shells. and the number one cause, railgun shell velocity that means wasd skills mean nothing in most situations. no. just knock 15% to 30% off of shell velosity, and tell people to learn how to lead a target aka, how to shoot. then people who want to disengage could use wasd skills to do it. using balistic arcs closer to irl, so that shells have a steeper final trajectory than their initial firing angle would fix a very large amount of island camping. since the camping ship would need to sit further out from their private little resort to clear the island than return fire would need.

Crew skills (when are crew skills coming?)

more time/pay gated power gap. because more pociopathic pay to win is what this game needs right now... -
Monetization ideas/suggestions for WoWS.
SkollUlfr replied to Aethervoxx's topic in General Discussion
overhauling the cosmetics system to include more premium skins, and include a system where popular mod skin creators can get included in the store. similar to planetside. converting/grandfathering in current consumable cosmetics with their economic perks as letters of marque. meaning they could still be sole in packs and given as awards. expanding cosmetic options to include emblems on the hull premium hulls to free ships. since they could and often would be paper designs, there would not be the same need to get historical scaling correct and allowing specialisation of some ships act. and could open the option to refit popular ships to different tiers providing more variety in game. an addition to this is that highly specialised refits would have very bad economics without premium time. "you want to do something strange, fine, but it will cost you" type logic. the critical thing wg need to do, is provide a play environment where anything bought actually has value as an element of a pvp game. not simply look at mobile rpgs and cry about pve op items being damaging to the game. and sack any corpo not competent enough to distinguish these. -
WG probably has fired Gneisenau013 over Yukon Debacle
SkollUlfr replied to Taschkent_'s topic in General Discussion
i said in several ways, there was a clear and caustic divide between the devs and corpo at weegee, that meant that the devs couldnt deliver the game that this could be. talk about making a monument to that observation, and lighting it in neon. the chilling effect this will likely have on many of the devs morale is not something i want to think about. -
asain's modpack or the official "modstation" modpack if you are worried.

How about a Fighter Aircraft consumeable rewo... overhaul?
SkollUlfr replied to Figment's topic in General Discussion
would be a good way to homogenise controls between catapult equipped ships, full cv, and the eventual flight deck/hybrid cruisers. fighter consumables as a whole where and i assume still are, complete trash. -
A Missed Opportunity: the pre-Dreadnought Era of motorized Warships
SkollUlfr replied to Aethervoxx's topic in General Discussion
yet, getting into spitting distance and firing every gun as much as possible was how a low of those pre-dread era cruisers where intended to be used. and yes, i did mean that guns designated 'secondary' in game should see a lot more action. -
A Missed Opportunity: the pre-Dreadnought Era of motorized Warships
SkollUlfr replied to Aethervoxx's topic in General Discussion
requires reconseption of the tier system in-game to be founded on presenting gameplay styles in fitting with how ships of different eras fought, rather than the current system of tiers presenting more power as an attractor. and despite recent apologies, the corpos wont let the devs deliver fun gameplay if it doesnt conform to their monetisation models. even if it would provide many more environments for a broader range of players to enter the game. i could outline solutions to this, especially in an arcadey game like wows. while still leaving enough verisimilitude to keep the ingame immersion working. its a matter of presenting the tiers as gameplay style choices. low tier becoming "early era", with lots of cq high dakka brawls and ramming with weapons geared to sustained dps and bludgeoning each other to death. high tier becoming "late era", where angling of armour counts, critical damage spikes are a significant threat, and awareness and manoeuvring matters. where none of that really applies now. -
And subs are becoming more stealthier....
SkollUlfr replied to Andrewbassg's topic in General Discussion
what wg devs could do vs what corpo makes them do to conform to monetisation results in half baked self destructive results. -
Would you want to play more in low tiers and what would be required to achieve this? (T1-4)
SkollUlfr replied to Figment's topic in General Discussion
low tier ships would be perfect for cq brawling style gameplay. many of these ships where intended to be used in point blank brawls. albeit, theit was due to horrible gunnery control of their era. its just another neglected gameplay opportunity from weegee. -
random mechanics / lootboxes for op entities work in other mmo games, because they are pvE focussed. they are not pvp. wows barely has pve worth mentioning, let alone the entire worlds of pve that mmorps build for players to play around in. these mechanics are absolutely corrosive to pvp gameplay as they are driven by the desire to have advantages. that, in pvp, is called "pay to win". in pvp games this amounts to pandering to sociopathic desire to pay to beat other people trying to enjoy a hobby. its hardly a surprise that otherwise well adjusted people end up feeling angry when put in such an environment. wg's goal to get players, in a game claiming to be a competitive environment ( to the point of buying an independent tournament organiser),should be in investing in systems that support that, rather than undermine that with a few advantages, the way lootboxes do. not to stay a few steps ahead of the law. there is no way the devs can deliver the fair, fun and competitive environment a pvp game relies on, while the corpos are pushing systems that are based on destroying that, with paid advantages. these are antithetical goals. years back, this company grew itself without employing all the psychologically abusive tricks others in the industry have spent millions developing and deploying to exploit blind spots in human psychology. is wg really in such financial dire straights that it needs to now focus on them now? why not do better by finding and developing monetisation stratagies that dont need the abusive stratagies? and if altruism isnt enough, then do it out of spite. be the ones going to governments and saying "hey, look, we do it like this, those arent needed so you could make all that illegal" in such a way as it screws over a lot of competitors when laws are introduced to ban gambling based monetisation in games. leaving wg with in place monetisation strategies while others are panicking to play catch-up. as much as i wasnt a whale, i did spend money on the game, and there where a lot of things i would have been willing to spend money on, but a lot of those things are missing from monetisation. and with a lot of mechanics no longer keeping up with the ingame environment, and increasingly obvious payed advantages, i havnt played in months. what value is there to anything i could spend on in wows, if wows neglects the fair and competitive environment needed for recreational or even competitive fun?

Very generous of WG indeed.........
SkollUlfr replied to totally_potato's topic in General Discussion
i think there is a growing and corrosive distinction between the devs and corpos in wg. and compromised decisions are having a very bad effect on how wg and wows is viewed. and a lot of the compromised elements in the game from both gameplay and monetisation show a significant schizm in how wows in presented to players and the public in general. but a lot of the time, people just short hand this to "weegee". i myself have gone from thinking wg had some of the best ethics in its monetisation, balance and selling/paywalling ingame power, to finally deciding we was going the path of pwe. and all of it off the back of corpo style poisonous monetisation and ignoring mtx options that could even include community content creators. -
t8 cv minimised map for zero awareness moving to g5... the middle of the map, flanked on all sides.

iirc, historically, paris managed to repel the viking forces led by ragnar, even after he supposedly had his men carry the longboats across land to get around the river defences. though i dont think marceau had been built or named at that point.

Chat banned in Twitch for asking a question

in other words, its corporate executive minded, and probably is sociopathic. not true, walking away give you many hours in the day to play other games. this has failed in other games, its unlikely to succeed here. as was already described in the thread, those in a position to change would rather burn it to the ground. -
and again EU player got middle finger from WG
SkollUlfr replied to krzysiek_1990's topic in General Discussion
because ru players will uninstall the game rather than being disrespected. -
i see where this is going. and i have seen it before. they will sell loot boxes, then sell keys to open them separately. this way they can, like perfect world entertainment, double dip on sales of loot boxes, and do 'key sales' for people to open their spare loot boxes. since that person has been 'given' the bait item already.

so, how many things have killed ranked now?

you can say that, but...

So WG ask for respect then we get this
SkollUlfr replied to King_Of_The_Potatoes's topic in General Discussion
this was clearly miscommunication. let me explain, they wanted you to buy "respecs" for your commander perks. -
You want respect when you do stuff like this?
SkollUlfr replied to Fat_Maniac's topic in General Discussion
devs =! corpos corpos think genshin is the best thing ever and will have the devs emulate that. players subject to psy-ops will continue to spend money. there are thousands of other games.
