For the love of god get rid of the mercy rule!!
SkollUlfr replied to Capt_kreminski's topic in General Discussion
this would extend matches giving the spreadsheet fewer matches played obviously fewer matches would be less fun /s -
When your salvo celebrates the 6th year of WoWs
SkollUlfr replied to ARE_YOU_HUMAN's topic in General Discussion
that and there would be the question of why the hell the dispersion fields are rotated 90 degrees, for no good reason and several bad excuses. -
at times like these, its important to remember to keep giving them money, and continue playing to keep those engagement numbers up, via the matches played tally.

ff should have been dealt with by damage modifiers, and resulted in bans from random matches on the basis of 1 match for each 5% of potential ff damage hp

use smoke, play like dd with a citedel, bully smaller targets. leander is a pos that should have special mm due to how bad it is. edit=realised i mixed up leander and emerald

What exactly are you supposed to learn/grind/farm in Co op in 4 mins and 9 sec?
SkollUlfr replied to SeaWolf7's topic in General Discussion
difficulty settings for co-op. wg can make bots capable of murdering players, tying that to difficulty options would give a choice and change match times along with that challenge. but it wont happen. fast matches = more matches = inflated engagement numbers. since wg tracks matches played as a measure of success. despite it being destructive to most players sense of fun in "a game". its a classic inhibitory loop, but the corpo are to incompetent to recognise it. -
naga has a casemate deck covering its everything, that is perfect for catching shell pens.

should have been done years ago. i maintain that all ships should have passive sonar stats separate to active sonar abilities. and that if wg had invested in such basic mechanics, it would not be in the hole it has dug itself with subs being added while the game does not have the mechanics to accommodate and address them. easily resolved by actually having reasonable detection mechaincs, that include angular size and screw/engine noise along with depicting radar/sonar ghosts as intermediary to solid spot/invisible. again, utterly foundational things, that should have changed years ago to have a basic foundation to address subs instead of 12+ year old clunk and clang mechanics.

CHEATERS, come on it's just a game!
SkollUlfr replied to XanderFreemaker's topic in Newcomers' Section
ugh... well, the spotting/detection mechanics are, utter trash. the pure cluck and clang has long been a point of frustration. but that is what this is. not cheating. just 12+ year old, clunky game mechanics that wg corpo refuse to have the devs develop. -
well.... wows is an unfair game, but, you are making it worse for yourself. impatience lack of forethought(obvious whom where you got your ship) and deliberately excluding situational awareness(minimising the map) is just going to make things more difficult for you. not-so-pro-tip, the minimap literally tells you where to shoot. the locked ship has a line showing where it will go, your point of aim has a circle, put one on the other and click.

corpo see low tier as a stumbling block to the goal of getting newbies to buy high tier premiums or premium time that they play for a month and uninstall. or havnt you noticed that both these things are priced about the cost of a new game? the goals they set out for the devs, are workarounds to get new players to bypass the already fast process of unlocking new things, that functions as a way to introduce players to the power disparity of the tier system. and that "lesson" is "learned" the minute the newb opens their wallet. consciously recognised of not, the 'game lessons' low tier is set up to teach, is nothing more than "you can buy your way to power". has been pointed out by many, for years. my own repeated suggestion was and is to rework the tier system as an "era" system. however, wgcorpo have an established model into which everything must be shoehorned, and that is the tier system, with the implicit message that "high tier" is some sort of pinnacle for players to climb to, using human psychological flaws around status symbols. "mid centaury era premium battleship" is going to sound significantly different to 99% than "tier 8 premium battleship". especially in the context of the wg tier system presenting t10 as "top tier". its psychological abuse and manipulation, aimed at stripping your mental defences to exploit hypocrisy and give a feeling of reward to impulses otherwise controlled by critical thinking. "this game makes me angry and frustrated, but the buy button makes me feel feel i achieved something" is a much more common thought than "i could get more entertainment for this money elsewhere, without the stress". and that is before you factor in compounded psychological flaws like sunk costs and habituation. unless you see wg purging its corpo directors, along with some select sycophants, this game will not see such development. its outside the scope of the monetisation model.

LOOSING all upgrades and winnings
SkollUlfr replied to CeaserAugustusJulius's topic in Newcomers' Section
given op is dated 2016... it safe to assume they got a solution... -
delete the mods folder then use the repair option in the launcher. wows isnt going to remove 3rd party files when you uninstall, so a random file in a mods folder wont go anywhere.

Submarines may effect the whole game ethos
SkollUlfr replied to Pompeythegreat's topic in General Discussion
comparing wows to 'real navies' is a path to insanity. its a naval action arcade game. unfortunately, its a naval action arcade game where the corpos have been calculatingly negligent towards developing the mechanics of the game, in favour of demanding the devs deploy more gimmicks. gimmicks that the games undeveloped mechanics long ago lost the capacity to address. let alone have the flexibility to address invisibility and guided missile mechanics that subs effectively come with. -
because its an issue ingame from day one. since day one there have been,, people,, with minimised minimaps, sitting at the back, with no situational awareness due to thinking they are sup0r l33t sniporz, complaining about dd torps they refused to pay attention to, complaining their 3000m/s laser guided shells arent good enough. even with the games built in lockon mechanics that are specifically stated as making the guns more accurate. AAAND that is before getting to overmatch mechanics that renders a lot of armour angling invalid on the basis of herp derp BiGgUn.
-
specs wise, sure. wows is 10 years old, and if you turn the settings down, will run on broccoli and potato soup, so long as its windows os. real world performance you would need to test yourself.

Buff the action time of "Damage Control Party"
SkollUlfr replied to ARE_YOU_HUMAN's topic in General Discussion
almost like blundering a solution like "make repair crews do sonar stealth" was a bad idea at the end of a long line of bad ideas. not really a bad thing given how broken those mechanics have3 been for years now. -
Sub blog out. Cheat torps retained, but other asked-for changes are implemented
SkollUlfr replied to SodaBubbles's topic in General Discussion
can you ask them, if this is the case: why kolberg has zero aa despite having its 88mm flak guns modelled ingame? why does sonar provide perfectly clear images of surface ships? why do ww2 ships have side-scan terrain penetrating radar? why do ww2 ships have laser guided railgun slugs for shells? why dont royal navy cruisers have access to SAP shells? -

this failure was at least 5 years in the making. their rolling short sightedness over investing in developing the basic game mechanics, so there would be a foundation for this expansion, was nothing short of negligent. you dont throw a 1000 horse power engine into a prius and expect it to work without tearing the drive train and chassis apart around it.
