  1. many good players will blind fire the smokes if you make mistakes. some hits to be "successful smoker" - be aware of your surroundings - where radar and sonar ships are and always plan your escape route ahead. In lower tier you can wait till radar ships are spotted, in high tier with much more radar ships, try to mitigate damage you get (islands, etc) - always make as many smoke puffs as possible, will give you room for maneuvering and will discourage blind shooters - on a highly contested flank/cap try not to open fire before you are concealed in smoke - decent players will have much easier time to shoot your last known location or estimate your movements - ALWAYS expect that fast firing ships will blind fire a lot - things like minotaur, haragumo, kitakaze, wooster etc have such rate of fire they can simply spray the smoke over and over and eventually locate your position and you take heavy damage or even die - see hint #2 to mitigate this. If you play RN cruiser - expect ANYTHING to blind fire, especially BBs - keep moving in the smoke when you are firing, and maintain some angle if in cruiser - DONT sit in the smoke when enemy torp ships in range havent launched the torps yet, especially in hard to maneuver ship or w/o hydro gl in your smoking career

    so how one does get 80% WR in CVs, if the skill gap in CURRENT CVs gameplay does not actually cause enemy team loose 80% of the time? are you really trying to say its not because of the influence of unicum CV? wow. why do you have just 60% with other classes then? feel free to come back after CV rework with 80% WR. sometimes i get the feeling that CV players, unicum and potatoes alike got stuck in some ignorance bubble...yes, RTS genre is dead - Real Time Strategy games era is gone. Annual recolor of Total War XY and some HD remaster of Age of Empires wont change that. Welcome to 2019.

    ofc they are, they always will be and they should be. WG got the numbers, and those numbers pretty much represent the state of the game for them. Right now the skill gap of 2 ships out of 24 pretty much defines win or loss. Current generation of players is not interested in some RTS minigame (that genre died over decade ago, sadly) they want shinies, big booms and daka daka...combined with toxicity that goes along with CVs, the playerbase mostly ignores CVs. Impact of CV must be brought in line with other classes, but with keeping some sort of class identity and strength (strike wherever you want on map), but with much less power - but its gonna look cool. When it comesto the skill gap - they went so far, they removed nearly all interactions CVs had between each other all perfectly settled for launch to attract everyone to try it out and not feel bad about it...

    unicum CVs dedicated lot of time and effort to be on top on the food chain. CVs are the strongest class on Live. To dominate the seas in a CV, you first dominate the air - and thats very easy vs a guy who has no clue how to use fighters properly. Most of good CV players are of course very vocal against the CV rework - mess, boring, bugged, even more OP bla bla...reality is that after the rework and near complete elimination of fighters play - average Joe will have much closer in game impact compared unicum Joe...after that its just a game of numbers that WG can tune up and down. after the AA buffs on last PTS, and apparently even more AA buffs coming to signature AA ships, CV may become just a niche in games - they will be as useful as some backline sniping yamato - do his 100k if lucky, and back to port. showcasing games vs 11 bots doing 200k dmg means nothing, good CV players struggled to break 80-100k on average vs bots...i am expecting if nothing will change drastically from last PTS, that CV will drop below BB in average - coupled with the fact that they wont be able to control the game anymore..good for us, definitely not good for them
  5. and now imagine how all the ppl are saying how CVs will be OP post-rework, but they only got the chance to test them in semi-coop scenario. fara recently released CV PTS vids showing how "powerful" new Midway is doing 200k dmg....in a game with only bots, just one cruiser..he was at 60k dmg after 12mins and just in the end managed to flood some bot yamato (who by the way always shot down his planes in one pass). If i translate that "power" into Live game, with multiple AA cruisers, with BBs who wont let themself hit by 8km torp drops over and over you can forget about T10 CV doing 100k on average. but i will still take it, because it cant be worse than how current CVs work.

    you mean how bot DDs deal with CV? you needed 3mins and multiple squad launches to kill BOT DD (yea the dudes who smoke up and never slow down). Compare that to what CV can do to DDs on Live.
  8. yea, i must admit that this thread uncovered a lot about the mindset of some special players. It reminds me of another thread "Why are lemming trains considered bad" where the guy was explaining that IRL ships sailed in fleet formation for a reason, so its actually the best tactics - just imagine how the CV would go first in WoWs lol. what i can agree with OP is, that players often blame CV even when they them-self actually did crap that game...i used to play CVs at near-unicum level, but stopped, because it was always 1 sided battle. Either i got face rolled by super unicum CVs (often in divs) or i facerolled the rest - in both cases i often eat bunch of reports. My favorite ones were when the old Lex did not have any fighter planes 0/1/3, and the amounts if yelling why i don't launch fighters to spot/AA def was hilarious.
  9. ..or even better, shift the star from last of wining team to 2nd of loosing team - this will fix so many problems with ranked. All the trolls, AFKs and YOLOs, why are the allowed to spam 1000 games and still get R1 doing NOTHING. Trolls in stock ships, ppl who just park near closest island and afk, ppl who sail to ridiculous positions on maps and rushing yolos spamming battles.... On the other hand, BBs sniping from 20km, just farming dmg (hello Musashi in next T9 season), getting HiCal and saving the star, while others helped contesting the cap and died...i understand we wont fix BB gameplay, but allow at least 2nd from loosing team to save star, and take that star from last of wining team. Just think about it how much this super simple change would make ranked better place. PS: I understand that every 1000 battles there will be win where whole team did well and may be unfair to not give star to last guy...but how rare is that compared to other 99.99% games with trolls. edit: Seems the topic is touching the nerve of some ppl (one could wonder why). Excuses like "but what if i do good, but still be last, how is that fair to not get star" So, what about a threshold of lets say 500 EXP? If ppl really feel like that teams are balanced that often that all contributed fair share to the win, getting 500 EXP in a win should not be a problem and you get the star even if last. It will still eliminate the yolos and AFKs. edit2: Focus of the topic is on RANKED SEASONS, the 25 tier long ranked that takes hundreds of games to complete - NOT Sprints.
  10. i think they first gutted the torps, what was kinda reasonable, followed by rudder shift increase. then the range decrease to 11.2, making AFT absolutely mandatory and then killed it with the BB AP change (Kaba and Haragumo were excluded) Kaba is still a strong ship, but before you could go in and help friendly DD at caps, now you barely win DD gun fights because enemy team is getting full AP pens on you while the other DD is not. Release of new cruiser lines and coal/FXP cruisers did not help either. RN DDs have super strong AP, smoke on demand and heal - also not easy prey for Kaba. all in all, Kaba was power creeped to do ONLY what she does best - harass lone BBs or out-of-position DDs. Thats all fine, until you load into game with only 1-2 DDs per side on domination... kaba may be the most hard-nerfed ship in WoWs history by now, and requires large amount of skill and enemy mistakes to do well. And even doing well with her can have much smaller impact in battle than other DDs have. I have unfortunately unlocked her only after all the nerfs, so was bit of struggle to find out how can she be that OP, but was doin half-decent - untill the BB AP change that pretty much buffed all the DDs except Kaba/Haru - but Haru can work around the meta with 6.2 conceal and smoke (and optional AFT/Range mod if you feel like), but Kaba cant. i think WG will buff her at some point tho, all those camping BB snipers need another lesson of map awareness.
  11. maybe if you actually played those "100 to 500" games in ranked, you would understand how frustrating it can get when one guy is AFK, one sails to A10 and other is dead in first minute without firing single shot, and already queued to next battle in his next stock ship. Yet you are trying to tell me that these "teamplayers" all deserve the star, because others managed to win for them, right? *Edited

You have already explained to us all that your real life is tough, but maybe, just maybe try to find some time and read OP before you start responding to something? You have also already said that you dont play and dont plan to play ranked seasons due to RL. Sprints are great for you. Thats great, because this is topic about Ranked seasons, not Sprints so you can move on. Sprints are just fun with good MM with some tiny rewards along, nothing wrong with that.

If ppl dont like to play competitive (because they don't care for teamplay or putting some efforts into gameplay) they can go play coop/.randoms. Why are the players who care for ranked should be forced to carry along trolls to R1?

Griefers NOONE wants to have in their teams in the first place, let alone giving them gold medals for teamplay. Now. Maybe come back come to the forum another time ... when you will actually have the time to read the posts during your hospital shift (because that was very valuable and relevant information for us to know)

Or when you get to play as a team, or you win or loose - you wont reward team member going all solo "to save medal" or shooting goals to own team or being AFK in the corner..you get rid of him? why you never finished any ranked when it such "fair and logical" place to play in? PS: I am not BB player, even tho not sure how that would be relevant in this discussion.
  16. there is one important thing to understand about competitive game modes in WoWs - WG obviously wants everyone to play regardless of skill/age/IQ, everyone has money, and they wont spend if they dont play - Hell, they even rent you T10 ship to play competetive if you never reached T10 Yoloing 1000 times without prem account or buying premium ships or credits is not possible - profit. Queue times improved, yolos will queue 5 times more on average then normal person - profit. Just like T8 has most prem ships in the game, its the "meat grinder" tier of the game to provide food to high tiers, it has nothing to do with quality of T8. preventing super bads and trolls from reaching R1 will cause R5-R1 ranked bracket queues longer and queue times are Holy Grail, you don't touch that, Its a cursed circle that many devs cant get away from especially in F2P - improving the quality of gameplay (ELO based MM etc) can actually make it worse for inexperienced players, cuz they will get stuck in their own "bad" bracket. And when you realize that most of the players are "bad", who will play with who at top tier and how will those bad players ever improve? lets say LoL could do it because of millions of players of all skills, but with 100k player base...way too risky its a lifecycle of every F2P...grand opening with good deals and premium features worth the money. Followed by focusing on new players to get them to play/spend, because older players already know what is worth the money and what is not. Then the stale, when market for the product gets slowly exhausted and focus will shift from game development to mass producing paid features to milk veterans.New players who join at that point often wont even get to understand what the buttons do, because no one will bother to update or create some tutorials. That is often the last phase, as new players leave confused and veterans leave disgusted. video game industry is following revenue standards that simply wont work, because you can't grow indefinitely with higher revenue every fiscal - but investors expect exactly that. WoW was making 1bil+ a year, the moment it dropped to 950m for whatever reason, they hired low cost B team to development to offset the 50m "loss". The B team screwed up and they lost 50% of the playerbase they never recovered from and less revenue caused another waves of low cost/quality content until where it is now. So making 950m instead of 1bil was considered such "business" failure that it ultimately lead into near-destroying the product.
  17. there is no "real" tanking at T5-T6 because all BBs can overmatch 25mm BB bows at that tier. Yes you can sit there and eat 120k potential per salvo from Arizona, but every smarter player will either shoot better target than useless half-afk BB "tanking" or just HE you down if there wont be better targets. BBs often think they are tanking, but in reality they just expose them self as THE ONLY target to the enemy, and they get focused down and die. and if you really did nothing else, just sit there and eat 2m potential, you may end up last (very unlikely tho, cuz ppl who survive that long under fire most likely also return some fire and do dmg, but whatever) idea is to fix serious and quite common problems with ranked when ppl intentionally "sabotage" the game for the team but can receive full rewards for it. There can be some collateral dmg when whole team did good, but one has to be last - but thats so damn rare i think its a myth - yet everyone opposed to such change in this thread pretends like "not fair, last guys on the team often did good, just other did better!"
  18. that way they would have to like double-triple the amount of stars required to rank out, but in general like the idea. current ranked is mainly triggering me in 2 ways - last guy on winning team having same reward as top one and top guy on loosing team is often the one who caused the loss (dmg farmer), yet still only one rewarded for it. these 2 are pretty much ruining ranked because they support trolling and selfish play, and game even rewards for it.

  21. yea yea, bad players can have good game, trolls can end up second to last, and AFK players will magically not be last ... like you are questioning my estimations, but your scenarios are far less realistic. i know you dont care about ranked, and most likely discussing this just for the sake of boredom and having some place to argue about whatever comes along. ranked is toxic shithole, full of ppl who should not be there in the first place, definitely not in the R5-R1 brackets with 40%WR and 50EXP average...and if it wasnt BAD, you would have been participating in it, but you arent.

  23. once again and last time. Your whole discussion and contribution to this topic is that i estimated amount of "players who don't care" at 99.99% wrong? Alright, so its 50%, better? How does it change the fact that players who wants to contribute, wants to take it seriously *Edited* ? Do you understand that if these ppl who literally end up with 50EXP on the scoreboard WONT get a star in the end they either try harder or wont bother - and this is exactly what ranked needs - good and average players to compete and troll and super potatoes to move to coop/randoms. i know that it will affect ppl who actually try but are just really bad, but why play ranked when you don't have a clue about the basics of the game? I don't have problems with bad players, i am often explaining newbies some hard-to-discover mechanics like radar/sonar ranges, CV strafes and DoTs stacking etc, but that does not mean they should be learning the game in ranked.
  24. are you even playing ranked dude? for me guy bringing stock ship into Ranked is troll, guy going EXACTLY opposite way team agreed to go is troll. I have specifically mentioned also "special" dudes who go 25km to snipe. Its not just pure AFK and yolos, its all the "i dont give a [edited]" players, and they are even rewarded for it. How it would be even possible that players with 45% WR and 3k average dmg reached R1 in some 600-700 games? and YES, playing safe, exploiting mistakes of enemy team rather than making yours is exactly what competitive should be about. They want all camp on spawn, easy win for us - we just made good use of enemy team passivity when we controlled all caps. just check how ppl play CWs, its the same principle - exception is that they will simply kick that mental that does stupid crap, but in ranked we are even forced to carry them. edit: checked, you got like 50 games played total across all ranked seasons and another 50 in sprints, and all you came to tell in this topic is that mine 99.9% is not accurate - and you know that how? so you are just that, guy with 15k forum posts who jumps every random topic to spread his wisdom even tho he has zero clue about the situation, thank you.
