problem with star saving removal is that it will extremely slow down whole process. ppl with 55% WR would be able to progress by 1-2 star every 20 games, with no star saving. if they will have earn 60 stars, amount of games required to rank out would be ridiculous, so some heavy tuning might be necessary now, then there are ppl who already start at rank 8 based on previous season, for them it could be just too short if they shorten it too hard.
-
you are still looking at just one aspect - how much longer or shorter it will be. That's just the game of numbers, easy to tune to be comparable to the length to current model how about the fact that ppl who will put 3x more effort into battle will get also 3x more rewards, win or loss. why you think its OK to carry some of the team mates who sometimes have 0 intention to contribute to win, just so in the end they get the SAME star as you do with 4 times more effort. Or you loose because of them, and no matter how much better you did, you still get nothing out of it. how many losses being #1 or #2 can one person endure to become volatile blob of nerves? Yolos deciding the game in first minute, and border campers playing the "save star" since the very start. There is so many shitty and unrewarding mechanics in current ranked, yet all u see is "but it may make the grind for super unicums longer"

there are fundamental flaws in pretty much all your statements. - first, a guy who "generated" 600 ranked games over 10 days (playing 20hrs/day?) is far from average player capabilities and i am pretty sure his behavior in battles is abusive at best - he is definitely not averaging 1121 base EXP per battle. Game statistics don't track it and neither the API (caused by premium account modifiers etc) - "play during the day" well, thanks for advice. - yes wins do provide 50% extra base EXP now - hence why i wrote 50%/100% to imply it can be increased to make it less grindy or to value wins more - bad players will rank out if they are dedicated enough. That's the fact in current system also. Question is, how many games do they have to ruin to achieve so, 800?1000? example you gave shows us he can go up to 2000. Nothing will stop him, he will beat RNG by brute force. New system would make his 200exp yolo rushes irrelevant, so he either starts playing normally or not progress at all. - 500k base EXP may seem like a lot (did i mention its subject to tuning based on Tier/season duration etc). Good players can rank out in ~100 games, but mainly because they already start at rank ~8 effectively skipping half of the grind. I am not aware of anyone ranking out in 60 games starting from rank 18. - wins are not good measure of skill if the sample is too low (like 200) and at the same time the game encourages players to NOT play for the win, because it is riskier. For many, saving the star is absolute priority. - base EXP will be always pure measure of game performance as it allows to play ships to their full potential even in unfavorable game mode - aka Ibuki farming damage is detrimental in radar meta, but ppl chose it for selfish reasons whole point is not to make it longer or shorted - that is something WG can tune up. point is to encourage to always play to win, nothing else matters. But when you loose u wont feel like killing a puppy Ranked will open up to more choices (cross tier ranked) and lower amount of toxicity, largely caused by frustration.

don't get your hopes too high, seems that hotfix buffed the flak of T7 and below and nerfed T8 flanks. T10 AA still shits on T8 CVs obviously

with 55% WR (what is considered somewhat decent player) - including star saving ratio of ~16%, you progress ~2-3 stars per 20 games...with 55% WR. that means, in current "lightweight" season, we got some 60-70 stars to earn = some ~400 games to rank out. And you have 3.5 weeks. Can you play 15 ranked games per day? don't forget that 55% WR now, there are obviously elements of some serious RNG when it comes to star saving, irreversible ranks etc. You can win 10 games in a row and "jump" like 60-80 games ahead...or you know, loose 10 in a row. all in all, i am not pissed that ppl in ranked are bad (if they at least are not stock with some flags), but 15 games daily JUST in ranked is too much for me...i don't enjoy spending whole evening playing one tier, and i hate spending whole evening getting nowhere. The sense of progression is fucked, you can literally spend whole weekend playing getting nowhere. And ppl hate that, and then they hate the game, they hate the players...that's why i think ranked is crap - its a grind that feels endless and unrewarding (even tho it statistically is not endless) the better you are, the shorter it is. But i think WG got this one wrong, its the good players who usually got more free time, not the casuals they push so hard into ranked. if WG rly wanna keep it open to everyone, there should be some sense of progression, for everyone. Good players will progress faster, average ones slower etc. If ppl felt that loosing will just slow them down, not push them backwards, they would not be such toxic and frustrated. Hell, maybe the 55% guys would still need 400 games to finish it in the end, it would just feel different. This will help ppl to better manage the game time, not feel like they wasted it.

TLDR- you were not immune to Midway in KII, so AA should be buffed. Noted.
-
both old and new AA is boring - its passive feature, similar to secondaries. but that does not stop CV haters to ask for "CV immunity" on AA ship...pressing P is too hard.
-
i said "killed by CV", you know, that thing when the HP reaches 0. You can't, you wont get close enough for rockets or bombs and torps will do 4k dmg IF you manage to hit at least 1-2 before planes getting wiped out. all he has to do is sit and watch, he can alt-tab and watch a movie, he will still win. and if you think that ppl will enjoy being the spotting bots so others can farm EXP and you get nothing, good luck with that

what makes you think that people will keep playing or regretting something in a video game they play to have fun? they will move on to something else could be a shocker for you, but not everyone's life revolves around pixel boats and virtual egos, if something they do to relax becomes a chore of frustration, mechanics changing too much every week they will be gone and regrets will be on WG side for loosing customers. no ship can be immune to other ship class. They can be more or less effective at defeating it, but NOT immune. Let alone by doing nothing except "P". DD can kill wooster or DM with 2-3 torps, BB can take out 50% of HP of DD if they misplay. What kind of misplay would a Minotaur have to do to get killed by CV? he can beat the CV by going AFK.

yea, we all understand the the most masochistic super unicum CV gods will always find some sort of satisfaction, just as long as they will keep shining over the average crowd. There are for sure artists that can paint a picture using dogshit, does not mean i will buy it. whole idea of the CV rework was to open the class for average ppl, and i highly doubt they will find "flying around for 10mins doing nothing" waiting for tiny opportunity to strike to be fun. there were no-fly zones before and it was crap. Thats why CV alpha strike potential was cut into multiple faster and weaker strikes, where low-AA ships would get multiple hits from CV and heavy AA ships maybe 1-2 drops. Having and AA immunity was crap and will be crap as long as it exists. If WG insists to have CV immune ships in game, give me the CV DEV Strike potential back, and i will "wait for the right oportunity" to deal 50-70k drop once every 10min. after hotfix, we ended up in the loss/loss situation - average ppl are unable to do ANYTHING as before rework, but the rare opportunities to strike reward with 2-4 hits for 15k dmg, what used to be crippling drop before. if WG spent all this time and effort with CW rework (and coming RN CV) just to satisfy 5 remaining stubborn CV masochists that will keep playing no matter what, then so be it. Just don't be surprised this crap wont sell well then.

Targeted nerf of single premium ship is important precedent and warning finger
RAYvenMP posted a topic in General Discussion
you may think that nerfing one ship for the sake of balance is a good thing, and i fully agree, Question is, why GC? why now? There is kamikaze, iwaki/arkansas, belfasts or old Saipan who were just as or even more OP what made GC to "cross the line" that WG held for so many years? Can anyone guarantee this wont become first of many nerfs to come? It is very common practice in F2P game to release OP items on purpose to boost the sales, and once the hype is over, they nerf them - they may compensate or not. For WG it would be win/win strategy, cash out as much as possible, nerf it later and move on to the next one - giving back to customer compensation in a form of ingame currency. They wont ever loose a penny. so yes, balance is important, but on the long run if WG will decide to follow this path, the amount of OP stuff they will start selling can rapidly increase and balance will be gone - why to even test ships anymore - just release them OP, cash out and balance after. I don't have to be a marketing genius to see a effortless potential here. I would be very happy if WG could explain why after so many years of not nerfing premiums they decided to start now, and what they do plan in the future. Otherwise, watchout. PS: They pulled those over-performing ships from sale to artificially increase their rarity. Then put them into RNG loot boxes that some ppl paid thousands for and literally month later announced that super cool rare ship will be nerfed - and its "first in queue to nerf" Bravo. -
CVs about to get nerfed to the ground (yay, rejoice all CV haters)
RAYvenMP replied to valrond's topic in General Discussion
pointless to argue with the most stubborn CV haters. They don't see any reason, any facts, its just brick wall. CVs being completely useless is their dream, so let them enjoy it while it lasts. like the guy above "my cruisers passive AA should make me and ships around be immune to CV bruh, much realism, much skills, i had to spec for it and press P!" -
balanced.

can WG just remove all armament from CVs and planes so they can be just ambient decorations?. Planes will be automatically launched and fly towards enemy spawn locations to get shot down to provide EXP bonus? we are like 90% already at that point. you have to pee or have a lunch, but still wanna keep playing? EASY, run 1-2 CV games to help the community and take a break at the same time! playerbase wont be big, but all the CV haters can rotate and play them once a day to help fellow BB/CA players with bonus exp

nono, unlimited shells with 3min reload, the UNLIMITED is the OP word that triggers everyone.
-
do you know what word "dedicated" means? why you feel like being immune to one ship class as your secondary duty, with your primary duty still being shooting and farming damage off other ship is fair? Why your secondary duty can make you and everyone around immune to CV? you are not immune to DD or BBs, why can you be immune to CV and deal damage at the same time by just enabling AA?
-
so CVs are easy mode avoiding the AA and crap - but "dedicated AA ships" requires much skill to press P, right? to all the old or new CV players on forums - i would not bother argument or defend CVs even tho braindead monkey would understand they are unplayable after last hotfix. Forums are spammed with posts like "remove CVs" or "give on opt out button from CV games" etc. These kind of ppl would NEVER accept any logic or common sense, they got zero clue. They want to sit with their BBs at 20km and enjoy the sunset with one hand on keyboard and burrito in other. CVs picking up lone campers was their nightmare, god forbid CV existence

WG what have you done to AA flak burst values?
RAYvenMP replied to LoliWolf's topic in General Discussion
they have shifted some dmg from burst to continuous - read the hotfix patchnotes after this hotfix, they can pretty much go and make any AA one-shot plane squads because only masochists will play CVs next few days and then nobody - after that point, all the glorified AA ships can go back to shooting down spotter planes once per battle. -
CVs are crap now.WG normaly you would owe me 38k dbs
RAYvenMP replied to Grumpy_Shark's topic in General Discussion
i still don't understand why they nerfed all CVs when only Hakuryu was overperforming. Absolutely every single CV dropped in stats (some drastically) post 0.8.0, Haku was broken due to 8km spamable torps, simple removal of that 8km module would fix it. Now ALL CV are terrible even when toptier and total garbage when bottom tier. most ridiculous thing is that half of the players still talk about "unlimited planes dude!" when in reality, its plane capacity now is much worse compared to pre-rework. -

there are only 2 ways out of this: 1. if they insist on balancing them, give the players option to refund them via the method they paid with 2. let them as they are, STOP offering them as super rare deals in RNG boxes to milk players, let them be a part of history as memento of mistakes that should not ever repeat again. they are OP, but not immortal. CVs counter kamikaze hard. RN BBs or DDs/CVs counter GC and Belfast can be dealt with in the announced radar and IFHE changes. Its not like games are full of them. -

that would obviously be a very clear and fair message of what their real intentions are ... but i got this little feeling, its not exactly what they want to do. -

let me guess, you don't own GC, gremy, belfast, kutuzov etc. so you got a feeling that this announced and likely upcoming nerf hammers will just make it better game for YOU. maybe you are right, maybe WG wants to have a better and fair game at last Maybe they realized the mistake of releasing OP ships (how could they know Belfast will be OP), then pulling them back, and re-leasing them again in loot boxes instead of balancing them right away. Maybe it was not for the money, maybe it was all just coincidence they appeared as exclusive rewards in loot boxes after the "we wont ever sell them again" statement...or maybe, you know...you are little bit too naive? -
it would be too much of a grind because without the saving star mechanic the amount of stars to reach R1 would be ridiculous - but what is blocking WG to lower it? currently people with around 55% WR advance on average 3-4 stars per 20 games. without the star saving it would be 1 star per 20 games - to get 50+ stars with 55% WR it will be insane but imagine there will be 15 ranks, 1 star each - it will take ~300 games to reach R1 for ~55%WR. 300 may sound like a lot, but people need to consider there are many players above 60% WR and the fact that overall WR will go up if people actually played for the win instead of star saving lot of good but greedy players intentionally waste their skill to ensure they wont loose star - that wont be the case anymore, it will be definitely move towards more "skill matters" kind of play worth a shot i guess? just a recent example : we had a rly strong jutland (77%WR 2600PR) and a average 52% Black pushing. They ambushed lone enemy kitakaze with around 70% HP Jutland did not open fire untill 2 enemy nearby BBs fired into black, scoring maybe 3-4k total. in the end kitakaze died, but black was left with ~1k HP and fire and died. If the jutland would open fire sooner (but with a risk of BBs shooting him, as a closer target) he would have healed up + the HP difference = black would have lived. We lost in the end, jutland kept on farming BBs for the rest of the game and saved a star.

if i had to guess, i would say WG is preparing new business model. F2P games are heavily relying on whales - the ppl who pay $1000 to get Belfast or Missouri from loot boxes without a blink. Thats the cash cow right now. But whole loot box business is becoming endangered by regulations and its entirely possible it will get completely banned in many countries. To keep the cash flowing, this can be a solution - and whales don't care, more OP and expensive the better. They wont even care that much if its just temporarily OP, they will move on to next OP stuff to make them feel "special" whole this "we want to balance the game" would make sense if they werent telling us for years that premiums are untouchable and they would rather stop selling them than nerf them...yet here we are -
ranked was always *edit, and apparently always will be, after 11 seasons i am convinced that's intentional.
