    DDs were fine in the last version, except Clemson and Nicholas who were OP. Just remove the increased acquisition range for torpedoes and the increased detectability after shotting and DDs are fixed. Add more range for IJN CA torps and they are fixed too. Isn't rocked science.

    Is fun how a humble expert in ships and naval warfare like you conveniently forgot how type 93 torpedoes were near impossible to spot, and you can see them from more than 2kms in game. Because "historically accurate and realistic" invisible torpedoes would be a great addition for a video game, right? Is like you were another BB payer with less than 100 matches making another thread whining about torpedoes.

You forgot that shotting your main guns really increases your detectability, so you can't shot at max range remaining unspotted and it last longer, like 10-12 seconds, making impossible harassing CAs and DDs with HE (shot => get spotted => fade => move => repeat). Also, with the "hotfix" planes can see you into smoke if they are ~1km away. Overall: "9/10 post, will read again". It covers the current situation with DDs right now.
  7. Sportsmanship? Online games are full of gentlemen that never play the best class/ship/whatever. Also IJN DDs are so fun that I can't stand more than 2 or 3 matches each day.

    During the alpha, in the hands of good players, all ships were good against all ships, except CVs that were UP. Now in the beta, in the hands of good players, BBs are good against all ships, who are pretty bad overall except Cleveland and (probably) Des Moines. CVs remain the same.

    Thats a great compilation of the bigger flaws ATM, good job. Is going to be too influenced from new players though, as example: I doubt that 26 guys who played DDs after tier 6 could think they are fine.

    Pin point accurate in less than 10k? Thanks for the compliment. To get the maximum possible XP and credits you need to farm damage and let your teammates do the "dirty work" of taking objectives. Since the playerbase is composed by a 90% of greedy bastards, you can see why, even if they "learn how to win a battle", they won't even bother to help. See: same problem since the start of WoT for more info.

    This and ten times this. Balancing a game around terrible players leads to a terrible game. Then only terrible player are "right" targets, see above.

    That mostly applies to US torpedoes. Anyways in this arcade (not simulation) game, torpedoes are balanced around speed and reload times. A variation between 50% to max damage is minor now?

    You can't do that anymore with DDs, now shotting your main armament increases a lot more your visibility, so you can't shot at maximum range without being spotted. Also the increased detectability last more, like 10-12 second. I ain't 100% sure for the Senjo, (can't test it), but I think the "Invisenjo" isn't possible anymore. It could be a threat for BBs camping the blue line after all.

    IMO, the root of the problem is the reward system, farming damage gives you more XP and credits, "wasting" time in winning means farming less damage, hence less reward. Also risking your precious ship for the sake of winning can lead to bigger repair costs. Add some stupid and exploitable system for the sake growing your e-peen (see: WN8) and you have a recipe for a crap game.

    We are still early in the beta, but I expect some changes in the next patches. Right now any ship that use torpedoes is a disadvantage. In the case of CAs, there is no point in playing an IJN one over their US counterparts, they have less armor, less AA and less HP. IIRC some of them have a bit more of alpha, but CAs are about DPM, not alpha. We'll see in the next version.

    Jokes on you, torpedoes are already useless and they just hotfixed 1km of vision inside smoke. I'll say next one will be US CAs and torpedo bombers again.
  19. Shimakaze has the high speed, both Kagero and Fubuki have terrible 35kn maximum. Also, with the huge acquisition ranges for torpedoes, maybe you can hit with 2 or 3 shotting 15.

Anyways, turns on "the other thread" about IJN DDs and turret turnrate is now in the (closed) archives of the alpha test, so you probably don't have access to it, my bad. So guess I'm an idiot and we can discuss that again. I'll start: Holy crap, DD turrets turn slower than BBs!

    Sure, guy without reading comprehension that can't get simple jokes nor can use the search function, I just checked it and IJN DD turrets turn slower than most BBs, which are, obviously, slower than CAs. Care to post in the other thread, the older one about the same subject that you should be using? Can you do me that favour please?

    Is called "testing", maybe you've heard about that concept. I need to play to properly give feedback about how and why DDs are boring, frustrating and useless right now. That reminds me that 1 of the draws was a bugged game, time to send a ticket and a replay.

    Infinite torpedo range won't solve that acquisition range for torpedoes is around 2,7km. They are easy as [edited]to evade right now.
