Hey Captains, I did a similar project on the WoT forums and thought it would be interesting and useful to me as a ship-newb to replicate here. I don’t know if this has been done before, but I would be interested in what you consider "must-have" non-premium ships per tier and per class (yes, CV’s included). There are just so many ships in the game, and I know I will have a hard time to 'get them all', even if I wanted to; maybe some nations don't interest me, or some lines I suck (more) at. But maybe my bias towards to the Pan-Asian line might make me miss out on a gem at tier 4, and this topic might open my eyes to it. Whether for historical reasons (Bismarck), looks-so-ugly-its-cute reasons, unique gameplay, for completing missions, or it-earns-the-most-credits reasons. Anything goes; ships everyone should own for special reasons. Maybe there is a ship that used to be THE ship to own, but has been forgotten by WG, and now sits in port with veteran player’s nostalgia for it. Like owning a racecar from the 60's that doesn’t keep up with today’s racecars but still holds that special place in people hearts and becomes part of the collector's items cult. DISCLAIMER: This poll is NOT meant to be about which ships are the "best" or OP, because that would be a whole different poll, but if you want to vote that way, be my guest. My idea behind it all is that some players consider owning (and playing) all (relevant) Tier 10 ships as the endgame. Others play for stats etc. Ultimately, there is no endgame, except what we set for ourselves personally. Personally, I don’t have an endgame; I am just starting and I have discovered the fun of historical ships at tier 5-7 and Operations game mode, and I don’t feel any rush to fly up the tiers. So, my idea behind the question & polls was maybe to give me some inspiration what ships lines / specific ships to grind for in due time, for whatever awesome reason you veterans come up with. And heck, maybe I will have inspired some of you or other newbs in the process. I will start with Tier 4 and make new posts for the other tiers as the week goes by all the way up to Tier X. Please pick one or more of the ships you voted for and comment on why you put it in the must-have list. A few weeks after I have posted the Tier 10 poll, I will collect the data and create a top-5 poll per ship class & tier for you to vote on. Note: Maybe too much to hope for, but please refrain from negatively commenting on each other's highlighted ship. This is not intended to be a thread to discuss the statistics of ship A vs ship B and thus why you think ship B is better etc. If you disagree with someone, just close the thread and read something else. Still would have loved to see a football-styled perma camo as the end reward. Or a football styled gamemode like WoT had a few years ago: with BBs as goalkeepers and cruisers and DDs as your field players.

Tier 10 gamemode same as in World of Tanks = hard pass from me. Not that I have any ships to play the mode anyways. At least in WoWS te rentals are hidden behind owning a tier 8; in WoT even newbs with 10 games total are given two tier Xs to participate...

You are referring to the air strike? Have only seen a coupe of clips, but it does seem a tad strong, and is not considered a consumable with 2-3-4 uses per battle, correct?

If you unlock these ships using the tokens, since it mentions Early Access, does that mean I will lose the ship(s) at some point and will have to grind them again the usual way, or is the ship in port 'permanently'?

Bought a couple of the 250 dubloons boxes via the armory: Got a tier 7 Scharnhorst B, which I am quite happy about. But rest assured ye veterans; as I am only at T5 in the regular tech tree, I will reserve playing my German battleship in Randoms mode until I reach t7 in the tech tree. Sure looks pretty though. :-)

Good day Captains! First post, so figured I would start by introducing myself. As you can guess from the username: I am Dutch, 40 yrs old and I am trying to find my sea legs after playing quite a few years of Tanks. So please excuse this landlubber’s ignorance on all things naval related and use of tanker analogy, but I have no clue about naval warfare; me, dad and granddad were all army. ;-) Curiosity got the better of me and I installed WoWS 2 weeks ago and been liking it so far. As an experienced Tanker I am aware of the dangers of rushing the tiers, so rest assured ye veterans: I have no such plans in this game! I have watched all the YT vids on the WOWs wiki page as well as started to watch Flamu and iChaseGaming, but lots of mechanics (and abbreviations!) to learn still. I have played all the tiers 1s, most of the tech tree tier 2s and currently playing a collection of tier 3s and soon 4s. My intent is to stay around those tiers (maybe experiment with tier 5) for a while* and finding out if I like the game enough. So far Cruisers seem a bit more forgiving for my n00bness. Destroyer gameplay may be (too) fast for me and those torpedoes get me turned pink more often than I would like. Battleships are awesome, I just have to get to learn to give proper lead to targets since I miss a lot of long distance shots. Which brings me to my first question. In WoT tiers 5-6 are considered the learning tiers, but here I am planning on staying in the tier 3 / 4 (and maybe 5?) range: are those good for learning the mechanics and finding out what class(es) and nation(s) I like playing best? Any recommendations for must-have ships in those tiers? I dont plan on spending any money until I figure out if I will keep playing this game, but I did buy myself two tier 2 ships on sale for 0,80 cents, which I thought were at least worth the port slot. Still, since I plan on playing those tiers for a while, are there Tier 3 – 5 premium ships worth buying (much) later in time? As I see it, the two main perks for premium vehicles in WoT is increased silver earning and the ability to train your crew at an accelerated rate. Game economics in WoT means T8 premiums are the tier and type to go. Playing some tier 3 / 4 Randoms in tech tree ships I make more credits than a good T8 premium game (without boosters) in WoT, so is a premium ship at those tiers even worth it from a credit-grinding perspective? Since I dont intend to go past T5, I am not too worried about credit grinding, but that may change in time. I noticed there is no option to accelerate training on your captain in premium ships like you can in WoT; where combat xp goes to the Captain in stead of the ship (which has to be converted to freexp), so how and why do you play your premium ships? Campaigns: Most are for Tier 5+ ships? Dry-dock: cool way of being able to earn a ship (even if its way above my current level), but I am not making any progress, so I guess the mission requirements are also for tier 5+ ships? Birthday Cinemarathon: entered the codes yet I am unable to find where the requirements are for the missions, or are they also T5+ limited? Playing mostly Co-Op, especially when I am grinding modules and I am experimenting a little in Randoms. No shame in playing mostly Co-Op is there? Is there such a thing as Top of the Tree like we have at WoT, where one line is discounted for a month long? Equipment discounts happen how often? Lots and lots of other questions, but I figured this is enough tekst for my first post. Thats...pretty lousy tbh. You can stockpile consumables in WoT, so why not here? Oh wel, nothing else to do about it...

Newb question! I see that the camo's are on sale. Is there a way of buying in bulk and stockpiling them? Specifically the type 1 and 2 camos.

Tech tree discount or not this weekend?

Good to know I am under newb-/noob-protection as I have had some really hard fights already in Randoms! Since I will lose that protection at some point, could you veterans recommend me 2x T5 BBs, 2x T5 Cruisers and 2x T5 DDs to grind to? Tier 5s that do not disadvantage the team too much when put in T7 MM, as those ships are captained by me, lol. I will aim to stay at Tier 4-5 for a while and at T5 I can slowly complete some missions for the various events and specials that are happening (I hate missing out on some freebees ;-) ).
