    Carriers and the Number of Planes

    I have an average of 11.61 planes shot down pet game in my North Carolina, over 81 games. My record is 41 planes against two shokakus, and also a 35 plane game against a Hakuryu. It was exceedingly depressing when that Hakuryu pilot said he still had 50 reserves (our cv managed 10,everyone else got 0 or 1). Not that I'm advocating for blanket CV nerfing but high tier CVs can almost ignore plane losses, and sometimes I try not to finish off some plane squadrons with 1 or 2 planes just so the CV doesn't sortie them faster.

    Are you being wilfully silly now? I'm firing two turrets to maintain my angle. I fired 6 shells out of 9 as often as I could. You do not see the parts where entire salvos MISS at 7km vs a stationery target? You do not see the aim point is at the citadel and either fully miss or do ~2000 damage? And again none of those shots hit where they were aimed. Doing a fifth of the Clevelands health who is STATIONARY AT 7km is acceptable? So five volleys to kill him? So 2:30 [2 sincr first volley is loaded) to kill a lower tier cruiser who is sitting there? Are you insane? I stopprd there to present that angle against 3 BBs. I thought my two teammates had followed me in since they were closet behind recently to that. If those Clevelands died like they should have (sitting broadside and stationary at 7 km vs a BB two tiers higher), likely would've won the entire engagement.

    This is the point I posted the entire thing. And yes I also get multiple citadels per game, though shooting cruisers is an exercise in frustration with an american BB. Kongo and Fuso have better dispersion numbers than their american counterparts, well most IJN BBs do.

    I can post plenty of fancy games too...? Secondly, watch where the shells disperse into regardless of the aimpoint. Couple of the salvos straight up miss the ships entirely by firing over them.

    I think only the salvo where the cleveland started moving was poorly aimed, didn't adjust enough for his acceleration. You want to fire into a cleveland's upper hull and superstructure so you do only overpen damage?

    Stopping in front of 3 BB's angled like that is fine. What I do not expect is to miss the clevelands like that, and it was the cleveland HE shells that killed me.
  7. Repairs were used twice, I don't know why replay didn't update the cooldown. Maybe I just need to learn to aim better? /sarcasm

    At 5 km, low tier BBs will go short and over cruisers and DDs quite often, though yea they shouldn't get horizontal straddles.

    I'm not saying BBs after bad, but touting cruiser one shots is misleading. If we are talking about consistent performance, an angling and wiggling CA is going to be nigh untouchable beyond 12-13 km.

    This is only true if the cruiser gives you their broadside, stay relatively close, and do not evade. You cannot consistently hit a Cleveland or higher CA at 12km + who is wiggling.

    While I think BB dispersion at lower tiers could use tweaking, the bigger effect is just how potent HE damage (minus fires) is against BBs. Think about a fleet engagement and how quickly angled BBs are going to die to cruiser HE fire, while the AP fire from opposing BBs is ineffective against an angling BB.

    BB captains too passive?

    BBs have quite a few things to track, position of torpedo bombers, DD lanes, ijn cruiser torp ranges, presenting the proper angle against incoming fire, going to the flank that will make a difference. I don't play 'passively', but driving into torps doesn't benefit anyone. Uselessly sniping in a BB from spawn is a terrible idea, but so is charging headlong into 20 torps.

    I'm on the NA server, please look up my stats. I think that they are respectable, not absolutely terrific, but for solo queueing USN BBs I think 59k in the Colorado, positive and win rate and 1600 xp/game is decent.
