While Nagato-class armour is poor, the above isn't remarkable. Apparently Nassau has very good penetration, better than Scharnhorst for same gun calibre. This is only only up to 1km, but it shows how people can make statements that are technically true but misleading.

Want, no wait. Need De Ruyter as a premium now WG!
StringWitch replied to theOneNL's topic in Cruisers
Here's something to look at while you wait. Turns out she was actually uniquely modelled for BSP. Any thoughts on the camo? Would something more 'impressive' be preferred? -
What third row skill should I pick on Shiratsuyu
StringWitch replied to aleksandrov2's topic in Destroyers
With the torpedo salvo density provided by the reload booster my vote is for superintendent, so you can unload 16 torp salvoes four times in a battle. The extra speed boosts are also nice for how slow the ship is; like with ye olde 28kt Smith I'm basically spamming it whenever it comes off cooldown. Torpedo acceleration is more of an Akatsuki thing, and if you don't have a Kamikaze or aren't afraid of WG changing ship stats without providing a free reset. Vigilance is something I'd love to be able to take on every DD but so many other things are better I just can't. Take every time you get raped in smoke as a lesson on how to improve your smoke use. -

Very pretty. Really would like these old versions of ships but hopefully for a campaign rather than to buy. After playing Bayern I don't want big guns if it means bad dispersion, and I especially hate reloads over 30 seconds, so Mutsu wouldn't be much more than a curiosity for me to admire at port. Much prefer Ishizuchi's style of worse but faster firing guns... enable her underwater tubes and she'd be perfect.

The problem is that 'dun goofed' has been EU's staus quo since GNB. The nice and constructive criticism has been and gone, all the water dried up and now there's only salt at the bottom. I want one of those delicous corporate open-letter apologies to put on my wall... as if that would change anything, but it would shame them for what it's worth. The majority of bugs are introduced by half-assed patches. The majority of UI improvements could've been done during beta.

Christmas convoy misson is here
StringWitch replied to CommanderCorrigan's topic in General Discussion
Horey shet Now where's the compensation for them not even considering including this until everyone whined their asses off? A Katori would be nice. I'm still missing that just because I didn't have premium account during GNB. -
They are well hidden. You can't just click on news>updates, it's a different page. https://worldofwarships.eu/en/content/update-notes-main/ Bookmark and enjoy it before they remove it like the event calendar.
-
I think they probably will... probably. We moaned about the relatively minor issue of them trying to remove the secondary battery upgrade and that didn't go through. The shitstorm the new skills will cause will be astronomical to the extent that it may even kill WoWS like WoWP. WG are just as astronomically bad at learning though... As with the secondary upgrade thing, we may not even know what they'll really do until the hour five hours after the update hits.

0.6.0 Public Test 0.6.0 Feedback - New Skill System
StringWitch replied to Hobbes_95's topic in Archive
Just another +1 for "please remove that skill that lets you see DD locations". Seems there are other skills that lower the already not especially high skill ceiling too... I may quit depending on how this update turns out. The community hasn't been clamouring for a massive overhaul to the skill system, maybe a few tweaks (particularly with regard to things that affect CVs) but this is really over the top and pushes the game further down the rabbit hole of marginalising everything that's not a BB. Remember the ruckus over the attempt to remove the secondary battery upgrade? The blowback from this update will be a lot worse. I do hope the test period is very long and months of feedback gathered before anything is implemented. -
From the name I would've expected it to look like Kamikaze R's camo. Would be kinda cool to put that on other ships.

Where are the Christmas convoy missions?
StringWitch replied to bigbramble's topic in General Discussion
Because the way you prepare these things is crap. -
If WG NA offered to move your account to their server would you move?
StringWitch replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
Posting this 6am so yeah, I could do with a move based on time-zone alone. This game's okay for some lag (≤100ms) since it's about conscious decisionmaking rather than reactions. Other reasons include all-English community, less retarded events... and an actual event calendar that isn't shoved away in some dark recess, how 'bout that! -
Who released the Sound Department out of the basement again?
StringWitch replied to WhiskeyWolf's topic in General Discussion
The max rudder sfx has actually been around for over a year, but it seems a long-standing bug (something they could've fixed instead of messing around) would make it so it only occasionally played during the pre-battle wait. Now they, finally, play all the time. It's just a higher-pitched version of the same effect anyway, and the Windows 95 startup sound was awesome, don't diss. -
Better than last patch, but mainly because the sounds then were full of compression artifacts. Personally I prefer this over the sounds we've had for the past year so I'm going to try to make a mod out of it so I can keep them, but seriously just stop [edited]around with the sounds. WoT changed sounds only twice in the 5-7 years it's been around. The only thing you should be doing is unifying gun sounds by gun model rather than arbitrating it by ship, and giving secondaries more varied sounds based on calibre (and fixing overlap cutoff I've whined about 999 times since June). Also consumable activation UI sounds are SUPER LOUD GOD DAMN Death sfx jumpscares me too. The removal of bass and echo/reverb/wahtever is what most people have complained about, so if we're gonna complain when they come back I don't know what to say.

Favorite shipgirl (Kancolle,Azur lane, Arpeggio of blue steel,Haifuri)
StringWitch replied to Kancolle_Kongou's topic in Off-Topic
Hatsu is best zuki. There's a relatively girl I haven't seen that much of too, Commandant Teste. Hair looks like Colgate toothpaste AND IT'S BEAUTIFUL Aquila is another heavily underdrawn character. -
Sounds like you only play high tier.
-
I run SE on most DDs now just because half the times you get spotted for all of three seconds, you get shot at by 4+ ships who are suspiciously prepared to fire in your direction, and the one hit you take each time will be a full penetration by a BB.
-
Aha! So they started keeping the wiki within a month up to date and that page isn't still a WIP? Thanks.
-
I mean gun range and so forth. http://shipcomrade.com/ships/kongo I haven't found any that list the consumables available to each ship though, and that's what I want to know most...
-
Literally every match at least 5 BBs on each team.
StringWitch replied to SovietFury43's topic in General Discussion
Yes, actually. The game was designed around cruisers being the most popular class and when they're not what semblance of balance there is starts to fall apart. -
observation balloons onboard low-tier capital ships
StringWitch replied to Cpt_Andre's topic in General Discussion
The balloons pictures are barrages, not for observation... they could add that too. I mean, BBs already have every consumable except defensive fire, so why not add plane-disrupting balloons on a premium HMS Dreadnought for the low, low price of a €99 bundle? That'll scare the Katori floatplanes away. Seriously though observation balloons would be kinda nice. I'm all for pre-WWII stuff being added, but it's the WWII stuff that sells because wehraboos and muh hood etc., and WG will follow the money as ever. And balloons aren't cool enough to overcome that lack of interest, they're kinda goofy and tangle together embarrassingly in the wind. -
Also, it's called warships.today, but it doesn't have ship stats.
-
BB/CC Nelson Lord Nelson Furious Ise (with choice of hulls to play like either Fuso clone (which people seem to want even though Fuso is already a thing) or CV-hybrid) Nebraska Knyaz Suvorov (great fit as the direct counterpart to Mikasa at Tsushima, but I bet WG are afraid of marring Russian pride with a ship that won't work well in this game ) ACR/CA/CL Tennessee KasugaAgano Ooyodo Tone Kitakami Peyk-i Sevket CV Kaga (30s version with triple flight deck and 8" batteries)

You sure you don't actually have a Marblehead instead?
