    Premium Aircraft Carriers—They're All Here!

I was a bit skeptical about the rework. I downloaded and played the TST client and gave it a good spin. It seemed to be different and had it's merits but I still preferred the "Old Way". Playing CVs, back then, was a challenge, now cat and dog does it. Players buy CVs, or get them in containers to just suck at their hearts desire. They might not do anything useful or deal a lot of damage but they still can ruin someones game. I liked to spec BBs for secondaries and contest caps or go around and surprise someone - no longer possible. There's always a plane that spots you in the most inconvenient position. Any non-CV vessel in the game, required a player to handle and spec it, to it's strengths. Making use of cover, positioning, choice of approach path, utilizing concealment and detection tools like radar and hydro. All this flies out of the window with the current CV epidemic. At tiers above 8, a lot of DDs are no longer contesting caps but hunt CVs instead. A win, much more depends on luck than skill now. Even more powerful AA or reduced plane spotting range would ruin the game for CV players. Keeping it, as it is, enforces camping and static gameplay. Another issue is, that CV are basically immune to counter CV attacks, due to their powerful AA. Maybe reduce CV HP and AA, so they have to move with the team and require protection ? Of course, as we all know from WoT, no-one ever bothers to protect artillery but maybe, we can pull it off.

Thoughts of a former CV player

Back in the RTS days, I spent a lot of time and effort to master multitasking. It wasn't easy to keep track of all squadrons. They were all over the map and one couldn't zoom out far enough, to see them all. I made my own view mods and bought a programmable 12 button mouse, to have everything I needed available, without using the keyboard for anything else but steering my carrier. Not a lot of people played CVs, only a few were good at it. Then came the rework. Carriers were a novelty, a few months ago, now they are present in every game. Players are forced to use valuable captain skills, to counter this. Tactical gameplay like sneaky flanking or clever positioning, with the goal of just being able to shoot, without being spotted, can no longer be done, because there is always the possibility of a plane, spotting you, at the worst possible time. The current CV epidemic - made even worse with the return of premium carriers, one can get out of containers - lead to hardcore camping and a general hostility against CV players. I, for one, won't put up with this any longer. You can find me in a Gearing or Z-52 and god have mercy with any of those new CV players, I happen to spot.

    Intergalactic Games: Torpedo Beat

I daresay, this man hit the nail right in the face. While the first mode, at least, involved some thinking, "Torpedo Beat" can only be considered a pita. Tactical play and positioning is out of question since the sections are capped so fast and going into the torpedo soup is all about luck. A single map only, is also not very entertaining. I suffered my way to the Rover, because I could use some Elite Commander XP and tried to make the best of it's long range torps, by keeping at medium range and spamming them everywhere. For me, It was not an enjoyable experience, I simply did it because it's the easiest way to train commanders and make some credits. In-game chat revealed that most players feel exactly the same way. They put up with this nonsense for the results, not the gameplay. I am sorry to admit that I quit, as soon as I reached my goal. I would have loved to see improved submarines instead of this "Fast Paced Action" (TM) for the young folks. You seem to forget that your paying customers are of the slightly more seasoned variety.

Weekend Highlights – Graf Zeppelin Strikes Back

I can't help but wonder what's going on in their heads, sometimes. The vast majority of players has stated, again and again, they'd very much prefer to not have CVs in the game. After the rework, whole teams stalled and clustered together in sheer terror, if there was a tier 8 CV in an X game. So they buffed AA to the moon and nerfed CVs into the ground, (we don't want any DDs to get hurt) only to happily advertise that premium tier 8 CVs, which have the worst MM of any vessel, are now for sale again. Next up: Observer balloons, for only 99.99.

Did you change AA again ? Can't even approach same tier ships without totally getting wrecked.

I don't want to wait any longer

I am sick and tired of WG, "collecting data" for ages. I am sick and tired of not being able to defend my CV against rouge DDs. I am sick and tired of stealth AA. I am sick and tired of AA shooting through solid matter.. I am sick and tired of losing credits, no matter how well I do. I am [edited] sick and tired of spending thousands of real money, only to get kicked into the unmentionables. Make the [edited] changes NOW, WG . . and they better be good. I am sick and tired of putting food on WGs table, only to be rewarded with a kick in the nuts. We are talking about the real world here, WG. Want something to eat tomorrow ? Make the changes NOW ! Don't think about it, just [edited] DO IT. . . .unless you want to drive a Lada, tomorrow. You happily swallowed 15K of my money over the past years, now [edited] earn it. i am so sick and tired of you useless [edited] [edited] [edited] [edited] [edited] [edited] Russian [edited] How about you sober up and start to behave like humans ?

Is this game: Pay to Win ?

Don't you feel tempted, at some time, to have a good look at your wallet and wonder, if it might just be the time to get the latest, very much hyped item ? I asked myself this question since WoT came out of closed Beta. I bought a lot of premium tanks since then. I basically bought everything, that looked like it gave me an advantage, BUT . . as soon as I bought something that seemed OP, it got nerfed. I converted millions of XP to free XP, to get to tier X. I thought, that not being up-tiered all the time might help me win. Did it work ? Not very much, I'm afraid. Then I thought it's time to give WoWs a try. OP premium ship ? You name it, I got it. Tier X ? Every single one. Converted millions of XP as well. For cash - of course. My win rate ? Don't bother. But, what am I trying to tell you, you might ask ? It's like this: If you are good, you don't need any premium, whatsoever. If you are not that good, no amount of money can fix it. I spent around 15000 $ on WG games and wouldn't be off any worse if I had spent ZERO. So, is this game pay to win ? No, absolutely not. If anyone would ask me for advice on how to spend money on WG games, I'd simply answer: For the love of god . . . DON'T !

    Update 0.8.1 - General Feedback

One volume slider works for both, the other does noting. It's either always music or none. I've mentioned this 3 times since PT. This shows how much attention WG is paying.

    Use boost to slow down.

Well, it also works in water since a ship has to turn it'd screws in the opposite direction to rapidly slow down. We are talking about WW 2 aircraft. The only means for them to slow down - besides reducing power - are aerodynamic. Flaps, slats etc. None of them requires any sort of fuel. I know, this is an arcade game. I know about "balance" but some things just don't make sense. If they absolutely have to shoehorn some kind of nerf into every aircraft mechanic, they could give aircraft some (wildly exaggerated of course) time for deploying / retracting airbrakes.

Will Daring / Harugumo get Legendary Upgrades

They might have forgotten DDs, since they are so hard to spot after 8.03. WG should raise their air detectability to around 5 km, to remember them.

    Use boost to slow down.

There' are quite a few possibilities to make an aircraft turn tighter. Some of the later WW II fighters also sported automatically extending slats but that's not my point. What I have an issue with is using "boost" both ways. Slowing down should not require any depleting source at all. It's like having to use the NoS bottle in your car, to brake. Makes absolutely no sense.

way to hard to be a cv

Agreed. I was only trying to show why planes get shredded so rapidly by using raw numbers.
