    CV Rework Discussion

    Here's one for the CV discussion. Just got out of a game. Hermes, Royal Naval carrier. 1 Torp (the rest missed and one didn't go off) 32 Bombs 16 Rockets 3 fires caused by planes. 33k Damage. Not very much. I did score 2 kills. I had to stop playing planes and use my Surface guns to do it... Seriously, I've been waiting for Royal Navy carriers for years. I bought the Warspite, I've bought the dabloons, i played about 400 games in US carriers and now you've done this to me. It's really sad. If you wanted to Nerf carriers, just make the AA have an impact on bomb dispersal or torp spread for god sake. was interesting getting the big orange pop up saying "The carrier is Under Attack" whilst i was on my bombing runs. I just sat there thinking 'Great... what do you want me to do about it?'

    And I've just realized... In the 8 games I've played in the new CV rework, I've not managed to sink a single ship. Not one. You've broke my game. How do you get a refund on Dabloons?

    Hi all... I'm a long time CV player- have been playing the game for the past 3 years or so, patiently awaiting the Royal Navy. I logged in today after a month or so off to have a look at the carriers... I was disappointed. Actually, I was furious. First of all, "Carrier detected". Well, that's nice. What do you want me to do about it!? I can either pilot the carrier or attack the enemy! Why can't i do both!? Seriously- do you guys even play the game!? It's a bad design when you put a player who supposed to be in control of something in a situation where they are utterly helpless, through no fault of their own. Secondly, Why can't I, the ships captain and the one in charge of the air group decide how many planes to be part of the attack wave? Dammit if i want all pilots to perform a hit and run, or to create a line of torps, i should be allowed to! It's laughable and a very poor design team who, again, remove control from the player. We play these games so we can be in charge of our own damn ship! Look, you know you messed up the design when a Langley CV can't sink a California BB in the training room Ocean map before the timer runs down. You've utterly neutered carriers to the point of worthlessness- the damage they do now is pitiful, their control interface is a joke and the fact that you can't even control them if you want to play the game? Oh well done... Thankfully, i'm not here to just rant. I can suggest a fix. Carriers need to be controllable at all times at the push of a button. Let me switch between planes and the ship, without recalling them. We also need an option to launch planes under AI control; an attack move function for them or whatever. Also, give me an option of how many planes to send on the attack run. If that involves an aim penalty or greater vulnerability to short range AA, so be it. this need to be fixed or your player-base will simply leave.

    Update 0.7.1 - General Feedback

    Oh for the love of god... The French navy did very little in WWII, they certainly weren't a major part of any major battle. Why are we seeing such a big increase to it's ranks? The Royal Navy however was instrumental in the whole conflict and changed the course of history. the Major naval engagements of WWII in the Atlantic, north and arctic seas were predominantly Royal Navy, US Navy and the German surface fleet/ Uboats. In the Pacific it was almost exclusively US Navy and the Imperial Japanese Navy. This is getting silly. I'm glad to see that the US navy and the IJN have very full and detailed tech trees, but what about the German tree? What about the Royal Navy? Instead of branching out to new nations, finish the half completed and long awaited trees you already have! A quick search on your server populations can show that you're not really attracting new players and you're beginning to alienate the players you already have as they lose hope in seeing their nations tree fully finished. We're still missing most of the German line, The British carriers are not present despite them having one of the biggest impact of the war in the Atlantic and now we're seeing nations being added that, quite frankly, didn't get the opportunity, historically to be a significant part of history. Look, this can be solved quite easily. Your players are reasonable and are willing to wait for their quality goods now that they've sunk alot of money into Dabloons, but patience has limits and frankly, some of the competitor MOBA type games that don't skip out on tech trees are becoming more attractive. My suggestions- take them or leave them, but i think they will be popular... 1/ Stop designing and developing other nations for a while, finish off the trees you already have. listen to your player feedback; put in the ships from history that we want to see. The Enterprise, Bismark and Terpitz are there, how about HMS Arc Royal? 2/ Finish your Carrier rework as we know that's in the offing anyhow. But when you do deploy it, get feedback first and don;t completely overhaul. Changes are fine, but a total rebuild with entirely new mechanics isn't fair to us Carrier players who's sunk 100 hours and $$$ into carriers thus far 3/ Take another crack at matchmaking. Current wait times are about 20 seconds before a match is made. TBH, i wouldn't mind waiting a little longer for a better match. T6 BB's against T8 carriers isn't much fun. Nor is a T7 carrier against T9 cruisers much fun either. If the wait time rose to 40 seconds, but the MM was better, i'd be much happier. I do hope the Dev's see this, because the word "player-base" is just another word for "customer" and from the look of other threads, the customer is running out of patience.

    CV's need to be more fragile

    The carriers survival aspects are spot of. You can Cit penetrate a carrier with HE for god sake, you can't really get more fragile than that. In addition, no other ship in the game is totally defenseless whilst it's on fire- a carrier is. In addition to that, few players spend less time looking at their own ship and it's immediate surroundings than a carrier pilot. This lack of awareness that is built into the carrier system makes them about as vulnerable as you could want. Even a tier 10 carrier would fold against a tier 5 destroyer or cruiser in close quarters- it's up to you to get there however.
