Not even CCs get steel ships for free and it's not an easy steel grind even for youtubers, and they might have rather bought other ships, like the Austin.

I prefer torps over hydro, it feels more manly to carry the load and ocassionally release it, rather than having a way to prevent unwashed players unleashing their load into you.

Same here, many times my ship jumped ahead after getting stalled, in the last two dáys.

The general approach of WG is to nerf dockyard ships as they don’t want to give you the same value as full fledged premium ships for less money. Sometimes the ships remain enjoyable, despite being nerfed, but the basic intention is to give you a ‘Lidl’ version for less money.

People here are not too ethusiastic about her, but Branderburg seems to be the most popular ship release this year. There should be something there that makes people buy her.

I find subs annoying/boring, but not that much to change my core gameplay experience in randoms. I don’t understand people fleeing to subpar modes instead of getting used to the annoyance.

I have no issues with slow shells on the NC, she’s one of my favorite ships. On the Kearsarge I miss a lot more shells, maybe because of the distance I keep.

I mean module wise in the third and last slots? Do you use range, or something else? Also, dispersion or reload?

There is like 5 sec delay between you triggering the fire and the actual shoot. You need a lot of prediction skill against fast moving targets, it’s good against BBs, heavy cruisers, campers and potatoes. I’ve seen several hits on noob DDs by experienced players. The CV part in general is not the issue, even for non CV players. The slow AP shell velocity really hinders the guns beyond 16km. Most targets simply change course before your shells arive. You cannot get close, however, as your HP evaporates quickly if you show a bit of side. Survivability wise, you’re also a hybrid. When you get close, you don’t tank like a BB, but something between a BB and a CV. Also, unattended ship can get easily exposed while doing your flights, except if you keep a lot if distance, but then you’re hindering your guns. The ship requires a lot of attention and situational awarness, which makes it a bit frustrating to play sometimes. Flying the planes is the fun part. Also, you’re not a carry boat in short matches. You need nearly full duration battles to shine, so don’t use her on weekends.

I have the Bourgogne, and she’s great. Does not feel like an Alsace. Also, she’s not that squishy, as people say. She is fast, nimble, has good guns, a joy to play. You should be always on the move, bow camping is not advised. By the way, I have a similar dilemma as you concerning my second steel ship. Stalin is boring and getting nerfed, Ragnar just farms damage, Plymouth and Austin are weak, Shiki is just a Yamato sidegrade, FDR is boring/nerfed. I have some hope for a new steel ship for Christmas, when my coupon arrives.
