JB and co are past. Also there is an overlap, but the general trend is RB better than coal, steel is better than RB, and dockyard is nerfed on purpose.

1. FreeXP in research bureau is quite handy for someone hating to regrind lines. You can play whatever ship you want while producing the freeXP. Also you can skip speed bumps in new lines, like I’d gladly skip the Zieten had I not spent my freeXP on Hayate. Need to wait for the 200% first win bonus week around Christmas. 2. There is a reason we call them Satan’s packs. You get no value from them, except if you are a mega whale. They are a means to part fools and their money.

I made the confidence calculations for 1000 and 10000 crates, checking only for the ship drops. With 1000 crates, the confidence is quite lousy, with 10000 crates, the 16% drop chance can be estimated within about 1% precision, with 95% confidence, meaning that your estimation will be within this range 19 times out of 20 experiments. So I’m changing my earlier claim that 1000 crates are enough for a good estimate, but 10000 crates would probably do it.

USS Black will be nerfed before being available for coal.

But you had one year to grind it… -
Was it new info?

So you were able to grind the Missouri with 800 games. Entirely doable for a regular player (supposing she was available for a year), given that there were no other freeXP sinks at the time. Nowadays, you have to whale thousands of Euros for an already powercrept ship, without the generous credit bonus. I’ve checked some old post and some guys claimed to farm 40000 FreeXP per day, and they were speaking about 100% XP bonus on weekends, something we rarerly see nowadays. -
Not really, a sample size of 1000 would be quite good, maybe even less. Basically you can calculate with confidence intervals, that he does wronngly, that your statistics are most likely very close to the true probabilities used.
-
But shows that it’s absolutely not worth for a beginner to buy 80 megas. They could rather buy a couple of worthy premiums with the bunch of discount coupons around.
-
Actually, his calculation of the ship drop confidence intervals are totally wrong. These are his figures for 99% confidence, meaning that there is 1% chance to have something out of the given limits: And this is the reality for 50 crates, basically the chances are much more widely distributed, not extreme tight as he claimed:
-
No, he misses a lot of ships, that’s why the experiment was done.
-
The guns are actually good for a T9. This ship will face Scharnhorsts and eat them alive. Super heal would raise the ship above dockyard quality. Remember the WG formula: dockyard < coal < research bureau < steel. Dockyard is a cheap way to get a toned down premium ship which can be fun, or useful as a credit grinder for beginners.

German streamer Krado opens 86 (title says 80, but he opens 86 crates) mega crates. All ships are T5-T7, nothing from T8 and above. 13.7% to get no T8+ from 86 mega crates, so this can happen:
-
Says the guy who picked up a couple of premiums for cash this year…
-
Actually, the OP immediately wanted to buy two ships with the coupons combo. Actually, that’s more direct cash revenue for WG than buying one ship. Remember, everything here is virtual, so no additional costs for WG. And the variety of ships to buy is practically limitless, so it’s not like they lose on future sales because someone is buying two. So I expect better Santa RNG from WG, lol…
-
That’s why these are the Satan’s boxes. It’s like always the friend of someone who got lucky, instead of you.

I wanted to get the Brandenburg, but then decided to not pick her up because of the reasons above. If I let the coupon expire, then I will have my 50% coupon next October. I have enough doubloons for the discounted 1 year premium and for an upcoming T8 dockyard ship, but would need to buy more doubloons to get the Brandenburg. I don’t see any real T8 alternatives. There is the Chkallov, but I rarerly play CVs, and then my goto CV is the Haku. T8 is uptiered quite a lot, and Chkalov can be nerfed. Then there is the Borodino, but I already have the Lenin. Similarly, there is the Congress, but I have the Alaska. Finally, there is the Tone, but I have the Atago and the Kearsarge. Also, I could pick up the Marlborough, I’m not afraid of the trendy bashing ongoing, but I have the Thunderer.
-
I was fancying the Branderburg, but Tirpitz seemed to be better, at least when uptiered, which so to say happens. I also have a coupon for 15hours more. Shall I go for the Brandenburg with 600+ battles in Tirpitz, or let the coupon expire?
-
Buy doubloons with 30% off, then buy the ship from the armory with 25% off. Don’t buy T9s that you can have for coal.
-
I don’t own either of the ships, but have an opinion. Having a similar choice, I’d pick the Carnot. I have the Salem, can pick up Des Moines and the upcoming Annapolis, so having a 4th one of the same style seems redundant. Carnot is more unique.
-
This. Everybody is trashing Marlborough, but I watched several streams where the streamers were easily racking up 150k+ damage, setting two fires in every third salvo. This is a long range HE spammer, nothing more, nothing less.

Anyway, this seems to be the stingiest WG Christmas, so far.

Did something 'wrong' to the red team to get -2 karma -
No better way to collect some recognition in the form of negative karma than putting 20 fishes in the water against a single target. If you don’t provoke immediate appreciations, then type the following in chat after the torps hit: Just dodge!
-
A few things will surely happen: 1. People start to get accustomed to the new ships, learning that they have OP secondaries and long range torpedos. 2. People will use non full secondary commanders having no 21 pointers to spare. 3. Pommernization happens, where people learn to keep distance and burn down this close range fighters with HE.
