I used the turret rotation module in this ship, it helps in those close range fights and RoF is still good enough. However I try to keep at distance from targets I want to gun down, it's just that silly Straits map that puts me in situations where I must go up close and personal.

Most handsome and most ugly ship in the game
Cosseria replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
Most handsome DD, Tashkent. I want to own her for her look only. My overall favourite as well. Most handsome battleship, I'd say Iowa, but Fuso is a close second. So ugly she's beautiful. Best cruiser, Mogami. Sleek and powerful. Best flattop, Shokaku. Worst DD, Storozhevoi. Looks like a firemen truck. Worst BB, Kawachi. But stock New Mexico is not far. Worst cruiser, Chester. Her hull is out of proportions. But Roon may deserve a closer examination. -
Every time I sink a Nürnberg, I draw a little swastika on the bridge wing of my New Mexico. With a little nuclear mushroom cloud if it was a citadel.

It's a basic rule of the sea: don't rescue a ship in trouble if this puts your own ship and crew in peril. I'll generally rescue a CV if: - I can do it without being destroyed myself (no way I'm going to try to get Solo Warrior for a flattop) - The CV is crucial for points or the CV player deserves it (didn't see the onslaught coming? Didn't move when asked to do so? I'll watch you sink without remorse)

She's a bit harder to play now that Dresdens and Kolbergs with their 105 mm MG 42 have gone in Barbarossa mode invading T 2 and 3, but still fun enough.

Small Nations premium ships, Sweden, Poland, France, Italy etc

I also suggest the Greek Vasilissa Olga... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_destroyer_Vasilissa_Olga_(D15) ... or the Vasilefs Georgios as the German ZG3 Hermes. As for the Dubrovnik, she could easily fit into tier 6. I think there's hope for her as the player base of all the countries involved seems to be quite large.- 66 replies

I remember I suffered quite a lot in my Mutsuki grind, the only thing I really liked about her being the aesthetics. At one moment I even got back to the stock hull as I preferred to have more shells on a single salvo even if the avg dpm wasn't the same. That being said, there's no doubt she's a dangerous opponent. Last night I wrecked two in my Mahan but the second one got me with a random torp spread, and when in a BB I consider them one of the main threats.

Just write them a big bright sierra tango foxtrot uniform, I wish I could hoist those flags on my ships.

It seems to me that she would compare favourably with the Wakatake. Small dimensions would give her low detectability and small turning radius, she carries the same artillery as the Derzki and, at least the second batch, the same number of centerline TTs of the Wakatake. 34 kts isn't the fastest thing around but it's not bad either. IMHO she would be a very funny boat.

I want the Turkish destroyer Kokatepe and the British built Dubrovnik of the Yugoslav Navy Https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adatepe-class_destroyer Https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yugoslav_destroyer_Dubrovnik Also I'd love to have the Wicher or Burza of the Polish Navy, just to complement the Błiskawica.- 66 replies

It's too modern for the game timeframe. What about a Spica class TB as a tier 3? Also the Ehrensköld looks like a fine ship for tier 4.
-
Indeed, but at least he could have dished out some pain before to die... The guys had a 4 tier difference between them (the leader was in a Cleveland) and it didn't bother them at all.

To be honest, the Chester of the fail flotilla I found yesterday was quite daring. He covered my flank all the way instead of just hiding near the cap. Too bad he got sunk without having fired a single shot, I'm sure his marksmanship would have been terrific. Besides, I was in a Colorado. And we lost the battle. Thinking about it, I would have preferred him to be in a Pensacola. But this time at least I didn't feel like reporting the whole fail flotilla for poor play. If there's a limit for 1 carrier per division I can't see why a limit of two tiers difference can't be adopted, at least for randoms. It doesn't happen that often but it's as frustrating as having AFKs.

Imagine the outcry for the MM in a land base game, if only one team gets a pair of ships who can shoot with higher shell arcs than the others, allowing them to bombard mortar-like from hidden positions. Also land bases controlled by players have nothingnto do with the game theme.

can you stop rewarding bad players in ranked
Cosseria replied to anonym_gCiyicUsNYGl's topic in General Discussion
I'm all for the best player of the losing team not losing his star, but not for the other way around. Sometimes bad luck, not poor dkill, is the reason of worst performance, like being detonated at the beginning of the match. Also, I'm afraid the noobs in team may be scared by the perspective and seek contact at all costs, finding silly/early death. -
So someone should get reported and maybe banned because his connection crashed/his PC failed him/his house caught fire? No thanks. AFKers are a big liability for their teams but you report someone for willingly screwing your game, not for things that can be wholly independant from their will.

In this case the demand should be extremely strong and widespread for WG to consider it. For example, even with all the outcry caused by the Karlsruhe and massive amount of complaints about it and intelligent suggestions for a replacement, as far as we know WG isn't taking steps to replace it in the line. I don't see them taking the fuss of developing a substitute for an already well liked - nowithstanding the nerf - ship, without a consistent return. Thus I suggested the Premium status.
-
Yes the shells had such arcs. Maximum firing range is theorically achieved with elevations between 40 and 45 degrees. But real ships also had firing calculators which took care of leading the target. As I said, a pre-nerf Cleveland with more Bofors could make IMHO for a nice T 7 premium ship, so I'm all for it.
-
You obviously have to go for the higher tier, then Cleveland/Fuso to start with. I have tried the Gnevny and only managed to take both caps, sink 2 ships and survive in a losing battle. Tried the Murdermansk but its range doesn't matter when you have to go brawling near caps 'cause obviously everybody else is going touring and I've been maimed by clevelandia. I have yet to try the NM, if you head straight for a cap she should do fine.

Psychological factors may have their role. You begin losing one, two, you get a bit pissed off. You get into another battle expecting another dumbo team, you lower your expectations and goals, you tell yourself "I'm not going to push till the end this time", your aim becomes less accurate and your tactics more banal because you just lose concentration. At least that's what I notice if I analyse what happened when I had a row of defeats.

I actually consider DDs as the most thrilling ships, and I've been playing them much more lately. When I get into those close quarters with other DDs I get a blast other ships never gave me. Of course they have a lot of enemies, when I drive in my Kiev everybody perceives me as the greatest threat and shifts fire on me, but as you know, Viel Feind, Viel Ehr!

It's funny that the 610 mm torpedoes get the highest detectability while IRL, thanks to their oxygen propulsion, they left very thin bubble trails and were accordingly almost wakeless. About the AA, like most of you, I turn it off, then I open up when spotted. One of the good advices I found here on the forum. Speaking about the situation of Jap DDs in general, I find them still playable but very situational, more than I used to think when I started grinding the line. They could surely benefit from some minor buff like a smaller torps reaction time at least on tiers up to 7 and better artillery thence. Currently when I play the Hatsuharu (boys talk about an ugly ship) I know I stand no chance against a Błiskawica or a Kiev.

I think I'll gladly pay some bucks for a premium Cleveland offered at T 7 with pre-nerf shell V° and all the 32 Bofors guns it should have. I played it in the golden age of flat trajectory and that was an hell of an OP ship. Omaha is a great ship, very agile for its size and with excellent artillery. Just engage CAs and BBs from your maximum range in order to be able to dodge shells. Give your captain the incoming fire alert perk and look around very often to check for incoming salvos. Then usual advice applies: don't show your broadside, try not to get too isolated from your allies, send up the figher not only in case of CV trouble but also if you feel a DD is nearby as sometimes it can spot torps. One last advice: if you head straight for your target all the 6 bow guns can fire on it, you must aim with the rudder but you show a small profile while having the same bow firepower of a Cleveland. It works on some situations.

I really dont understand giving cruisers limited defensive AA.
Cosseria replied to _x_Acheron_x_'s topic in General Discussion
Carriers must be able to sink you in much the same way a BB can citadel you, so a limit to defensive fire is understandable. If you want more, superintendent is your friend. -
In the last issue of Storia Militare there's an article about the Re 2005; apart from the navalized version of the land fighter for Aquila, it unveils the existence of a project for a twin-fuselage Re 2005 heavy fighter/bomber/torpedo plane. It could be another possible TB for Aquila.
