I've pretty much quit random battles as I can't stand the lack of gameplay quality and the BB dictatorship. Operations brought a much needed alternative, but those should be expanded to more tier brackets ASAP.
-
The capt is for Tier 1 because he must be trained for a ship of his nation, so they just leave him trained for the mighty Hermelin by default. It's not WG intention to have you use him on Hermelin for real, their idea is that you would put him in a T 7 and spend $ to retrain him. However this mission is ill-conceived, any player that's not a good CL captain or a CV unicum is pretty much useless. DDs have no role there, BBs lack the DPM and are only going to engage bow-on BBs. Not even all CLs are good, the Duca for instance lacks DPM and AA power. I could hard carry in Aegis, in this one we are very dependent from our teammates' skill.

I should have said nothing. Second battle 3 stars victory, then all defeats. I've had all the most enjoyable experiences this game can offer, I've been citadelled by forts or by stationary camping BBs, torped to death by CVs, smoke spammed by a bloody T2 mosquito, I've been called names in Dacian by unsportsmanlike teammates. And every darn battle there's the tool who brings in a Furutaka.
-
Got 5 stars the first time, thanks to a CV, a BB player knowing the plan and my Cleveland's dakka dakka.
-
Be careful my fellows in asking for added difficulty, I guess you've never lost one or witnessed unbelievably stupid acts. DDs kamikazing against the first wave, battleships sitting behind the F3 island until it's too late to catch up, last night I saw an Emily with a helluva premium camo and the whole bunch of flags (gotta be a pro, I thought) leaving me alone in distracting/tanking the last wave in order to go camp where the Hosho died and farm its two airborne squadrons, and we won only because my crew hoisted a big Playboy Playmate poster in order to get the enemies' attention. Yes, it does get repetitive and foreseeable in a short while, but I'm quite fine with that. There's difficulty in the sheer amount of enemies around and getting all the transports home is hard if you can't rely on a tanking BB and some good teammates.

Indeed, but it's a source of anxiety nonetheless. If you care to get the 5 stars, you must be sure someone with a fast ship is babysitting Mr Akulov in order to pick him up when/if his dumbness gets him sunk. I think I'll report him someday for playing poorly. Jokes aside, I wish the mission was less punishing for battleships. I'm trying to grind a pair of BBs but it's hard and dumb work. I can't push as I will be focused to death, so I miss most of the action. In the end I die acting as a shell magnet for the last wave. Remarkably less enjoyable than doing the same mission in CAs or DDs.

Kirov, as I expected it to be a performer and found it really unrewarding. Good guns balanced by the worst cruiser hull in game. For premiums, it's got to be Lo Yang. Dunkerque close second.

PVE Scenarios (S1): Which ships for which missions?
Cosseria replied to Sams_Baneblade's topic in General Discussion
I see, thanks for the insight. However I was mainly shooting HE as the targets were mostly heading towards me, and it yelded very poor results. Never mind, it was just because I had a captain retraining. I shall move him to Murdermansk, I've had some good games with her. -
PVE Scenarios (S1): Which ships for which missions?

I tried the Okhotnik thinking I would kick @$$ with her guns and struggled a lot. Most shells just shattered. Anshan on the other hand ruled the map. -
Where have you found this profile of the tier X Russian BB? It should have been sikrit!
-
The problem is that a week of hard carrying rotten potato bags to 5 star victories in Aegis didn't award me a single compliment.
-
Of course not, but a plane could spot for only one ship at a time. It was difficult enough for the observer to do the work for one ship, let alone two or more.
-
Torp walls, HE spam, CV cross dropping, the devs managed to put all those things that make you scream with rage in a single mission. Edit: uh, I actually forgot the smoke spam. Hey devs, put a pair of Flint bots burning us from smoke next time, the mission still doesn't suxxx enough!
-
The quick progression on low tiers is meant to encourage new players and besides most of those T 1 - 4 ships are underdogs which I wouldn't bear to grind for 50000 XP. The problem with potatoes reaching T 9 without having a darn clue about the game lies elsewhere: lack of a real, readily accessible knowledge base about game mechanics and reluctance to put in place some kind of hard barrier for stubborn noobs.

I play for the team if I see a team, in the common random mess I just try to sort it out and play for the win, or at least to get enough damage done to not be at loss with credits before the steamroll.

WG breaks its own rules, admits this cheat, and support trolls offer no support

I think I'll put the blame on the railway company next time I happen to miss a train because I'm late. -
Can we stop this (There is a High DD Meta in game) Crap, Its just not True
Cosseria replied to T0byJug's topic in General Discussion
I'm confident most BBabies will then quit the German line and grind the British one, so maybe we won't get past 65-70%. It could then be the right time to get back to Fletcher and Kagero if only those new BBs hadn't got a radar. Don't count me in for DD play above T 7 when that line goes live. -
Well, put the heal zone in the very middle of the map, problem solved What could be added to the game is firefighting assistance. If a cruiser keeps within a ship's lenght to a burning ally, the ally will get 50% fire extinguishing time bonus, the cruiser a ribbon and an XP prize. Uhm, no, never mind. It will only lead to more BB bullying "NOOB Y U NO HELP ME".

[Operation] Defense of Naval Station Newport
Cosseria replied to blindhai's topic in General Discussion
I wonder how well the Dunkerque may fare, she's got good speed and the all forward armament to deal with charging bots. Also 35% fire chance on HE. -
I've already got the Duca for when I feel like being shafted by bismarks, not going to touch this one unless it's blatantly OP.

Apart from bunching up like scared chickens, which we did, surrendering caps to the enemy, there was nothing we could do. T 9 planes just ignored our AA, even if we moved in groups. Losing battles and wasting goodies because luck says foxtrot uniform. Totally fun and engaging, I'm loving this game more and more.
-
I just witnessed an extreme example of the influence of CV player skill divide. Ours was a kid in a Kaga. Theirs was a 6000 battles, 62% unicum in a Saipan. While our kid kept feeding his planes to Saipan's F 14 Tomcat fighters, enemy TBs were farming us like there's no tomorrow. End result: Unicum: 4 kills, top scorer Kid: 29 XP points. No, not 290. Twenty-nine, two-foxtrot-uniform-charlie-kilo-india-november-golf-nine. It was very fun and engaging seeing that hopeless slaughter and being on the receiving end of it. Thanks WG for allowing clueless random bobs to jump at will into the most influential ship class of your silly game at the expense of your other customers.

How do I unsubscribe from this bloody thing? I'm on an uninterrupted 9 battles losing streak since I signed in. This flag has cast the SFIGA (the Big Black Thick Bad Luck) on me.
-
It's a bonus in any case: a spotter can help you nail an enemy ship firing from smoke, a fighter can protect you from CVs; both can spot torps and nearby ships. Just put it into the speed boost slot as an option.

For those that love Warspite, something over at NA.

I had a good laugh at his "French flag" Like that youtuber who I heard saying that the star on Duca's stem is there because of the Soviet Union
