[Info] Torpedo Spreadsheets, incl. reaction time and chances of flooding
Hawg replied to WeGreedy's topic in General Discussion
The mod I have for the ship names at the top corners shows the torpedo loadout that the other ships have. So for a shimmy for example, I can see which ones have the 12km torps vs the 20km torps. Its one of the mods in Anslan's-- I'll try to look it up when I get home.- 133 replies

This is awesome OP, thanks for making this :) Now you just need to make a mod that tells you this information in game when you target someone ;P (i.e. Target another ship and it shows how long it would take its torps to be seen by you, and vice versa, etc.)- 133 replies

Get really good at CV's - Play them a lot - nothing can carry a match like a skilled CV player. Or sealclub a lot. Or only play in divisions with skilled friends. Or re-roll. Or just don't care about your stats.

WG thank you - the "Clan Wars" (once in the "Gale League") offer best consistent gameplay experience in WoWs!
Hawg replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
This thread gives me hope... haven't managed to make it in to CW yet, but now I see it is largely seen as fun, so I'll keep trying. -
The problem with the current system imho, is it teaches passivity and cautious gameplay. Some people may think of that as a virtue, but it can lead to booring games. In other words, the way to do well at T8 is to be very cautious and careful, this "breeds a new generation" of campers.

The new World of Warplanes is quite fun. Maybe the way to fix CV's is to scrap the current UI and design, and either: 1) When fighters TB's DB's want to engage, the screen zooms in and the CV captain is suddenly flying the plane and doing the dog-fighting, torping, or dive bombing himself. or, 2) Have CV battles be a game mode in WoWP and when planes engage in WoWS they are actually piloted by randoms who have qued for that game mode in WoWP. Obviously neither of those solutions are without problems, or technical and logistical challenges, but neither is the current state of CV play. Regardless of what WG chooses, they need to be "thinking outside the box" for solutions rather than just tweaking what we have now.

Where do I turn on auto denial for clan invitations ?
Hawg replied to AlwaysBadLuckWithTeams's topic in General Discussion
My enjoyment of the game has gone up tremendously since I joined a clan... can't imagine not being in one now. But if your personal preferences are to go solo, then as others suggested, your only choices are to either suck (I speak from experience, I never once recieved a clan invite in the ~3000 games I was clan-less), or create a personal solo clan. -
Countries just need to stop doing daylight savings time... we're not farmers anymore.
-
Maybe just extend them by an hour? So keep the current starting time and have it end an hour later. Let each clan decide when they want to battle. Where I'm currently playing is GMT +3 so your proposal would have me going to bed at midnight - I'm a delicate flower who needs his beauty rest. (Didn't know that Potatos had flowers, did you?!) That being said, I havent done a clan battle yet so my vote should probably be weighed accordingly.

Are you kidding me 7 dd's in a clan battle????
Hawg replied to OttoTTV's topic in General Discussion
That's pretty funny, but you might want to consider swapping the Defensive Fire mod for Hydro since there are no CV's in Clan Wars :) -

Hawg replied to OttoTTV's topic in General Discussion
The 20 km torps are slow and are visible from space, so it might not be as hard to avoid as it might seem. I can't remember, can the shimmy choose the torpedo reload module instead of smoke? 14 shimmy loads of their 12km torps might be completely unavoidable :) I would love to be in a battle like this... The 7 Khaba battle seems even worse imho though. I had a khaba battle last week where I had just short of 5million potential damage... I stayed just at the edge of range, full speed, and lots of turning, the enemy team couldnt hit me which left the rest of my team free to do whatever they want. When you can sucker teams into focusing on you at long range, the Khaba can be the best tank in the game. Trying to hit 7 of them that are BBQ'ing you... to me that's a nightmare scenario. What would make it better is if they all changed their names to something like 8136232999164 And had only one digit swapped with each... making it difficult for the other team to even coordinate on a focus fire target or call out targets. -
What you got in your pumppimpkins? Pumpkins and new Halloween event available now
Hawg replied to 22cm's topic in General Discussion
Ohh another reading comprehension failure for me lol :) I frankly am a bit tempted to do it again.... 16.5 more duplicates would be 82,500 which is by far the cheapest price I've ever seen for dubloons. Not even accounting for alll the other good stuff you get out of that many containers.. I suspect there will be a droprate nerf incoming soon. EDIT- Turns out my estimate was wrong, I forgot that the lower tier perm-camos give you only 2.5K dubloons. Still not bad though. I pulled the triger and bought another 55x = got 16 camos, 12 dupicate low tier (gave me 30K dubloons) and 4 duplicate high tier (gave me 20K dubloons) so 50K dubloons. If you type 55k dubloons into the store, it wants to charge you 155Euro (of course you can get dubloons cheaper as part of a package). I think this is the cheapest way to buy dubloons plus I got a ton of oil for the clan, a ton of free exp, and a bunch of flags and camos. -

I did the 55 also - I think I now have all the camos, plus the 6 duplicates = 30K dubloons - and a lot of other useful stuff... Actually interms of spending money on WG stuff, not a bad return. Especially since I have all the ships for the camos. -

You are very grumpy today my friend. -
Hmm maybe this means we will get some ships that are less than T1? T.25 Ironclad Steam Ships?

upcoming smoke change for british cruisers, why?
Hawg replied to elblancogringo's topic in General Discussion
I'll just say that I think this is a good change. The problem with smoke for RN CA's is that it cannot be used as an "oh crap" button like on other ships... since it is activated for so short a time, and since RN CA's take forever to slow and accelerate, you basically have to be going less than 20knts before you activate it or you will sail right out of the other side, and while you wait an eternity for reverse to kick in, you sit like a vulnerable baby in the middle of the highway, with about the same armor. -
Might as well skip on the T8 ships with this matchmaking
Hawg replied to Michey802's topic in General Discussion
Well at least its better than when T6 could get put in matches with T10. Fuso against Yamato ... (this was before I ever played so I am only recounting what I've heard from others.) I do wish they would give you the option of a longer que but a tier specific MM. As it is, I hardly ever play my T8 or 9 ships because of this. T5 has a bit of the same problem, but not as bad (get more matches where you are not bottom tier). Getting up-tiered in a DD is not as bad as other classes. -
I assume HE chance is calculated on a per shell basis, but I'm not really sure. If I'm wrong about that, ignore what follows: Since the chance of starting a fire is calculated on a per shell basis, then a ship like Zao that fires volleys of 12 shells, each with a 21% (with DE) chance of catching fire upon hitting, has a theoretical "chance per volley" of starting a fire 94.09% of the time. How do I arrive at that insane number? Well the formula for multiple chances for an event to occur is the chance of the event not happening (not starting a fire) to the power of the the number of rolls (shells). So here that is 79%/\12 = 5.91% of not starting a fire (or 94.09% chance of starting a fire). (Sorry for the exponent symbol there-- I'm typing this on an iPad and cant find the exponent symbol so I'm using /\ in its place.) Of course with dispersion RNG you are unlikely to land all 12 shells, which reduces that 94.09% to 84.83% if you only land 8, 75.69% if you only land 6, 61.05% if you only land 4, 37.59% if you only land 2, and of course 21% if you only land one. But, there are also other factors that explain why we dont see as many fires as that math might suggest. For example the 10% fire chance reduction from the 4pt fire talent. Also, fires are limited to the zones on the ship, if that zone is already on fire, I'm not sure you can set it on fire again. Also this shows that if you take the DE talent, on a "per volley" basis it is better than just the 2% increase it advertises. It actually increases the chance of fire for that Zao per volley by as much as 8.51% (with 4 shells landing). Anyway, the point of all this in relation to the OP, is if your enemy started that many fires on you with one volley, he must have hit you with a lot of shells in that volley and those shells must have hit multiple zones. Very lucky for him, very unlucky for you. At least its an efficent use of your damage control consumable to extinguish those. :)

The free respeccing of captain talents ends tomorrow morning (October 24th at 8:00am) - So for any captains you have that you are not 100% happy with thier talent selections, before you go to bed tonight, respec them. You dont even need to re-assign the points just unlearn what they know now and you can research the best build for them later when you have time. Save yourself some dubloons. I found the easiest way to do this was to go to a premium ship and select each captain for that flag, then unlearn their talents. If you run out of reserve spots, just shift to another premium of that flag. If you dont have premiums you can just log onto whatever ship each captain is assigned to.

PSA: Respec your Captains before you go to bed tonight
Hawg replied to Hawg's topic in General Discussion
LoL thats the clean up process I went through last night... I'm not sure how many captains I have, (I have 182 ships) but it took me over an hour to go through them all and reset their talents.... I'll worry about picking new skills for them later. The abilty to respec freely was nice while it lasted. We had some clan events that were a blast because of it. We did the battle of Trafalgar with BB's that were only allowed to use secondaries ... so retalented to secondary spec with anti-fire etc... would be way too expensive to do that normally. Also did some "can only use torps" battles, and some "can only use "he battles" and other such foolishness that was a complete blast. Those are much harder to do when they cost you 500 dubloons per respec. -

The snow blowing off the top of that mountain, and the ripples on the water... a beautiful shot. We work in the same industry btw, I've hired your boats a few times :)
