The minimap is normal size, its just everything else looks bigger... I'm playing in 4k. And if I need more detail I just use the plus key. I usually am not off by myself with the khaba, so don't become the target of air dropped torps (this time I had just broken from the group to cap). But its turning is crapfor a DD, I think given this CV's drop skills I probably wouldn't have been able to out run them, but who knows.

Ok well this is why I asked, I didn't think it was possible to drop them this close to the island... its certainly beyond my manual drop skill level.

Why were you AFK at the start of the game? (assuming you were)
Hawg replied to SomeoneYouKnow2's topic in General Discussion
EdiJo, on 16 May 2017 - 11:23 AM, said: What?! Why do you need to wait in Belfast or Minotaur? They have the best concealment AND smoke if things get hairy. They can even go vs single DD into the cap easily (depends how much backup that DD has...) So you stay in your Khaba until someone else makes a red carpet for you? Geez. I do it to counteract my natural propensity to yolo.... I find I just cant hold back... I know its not ideal, but it works well for me. -

It depends on the ship... some ships like Belfast/Minotaur/Khaba, you need to wait for the rest of the fleet to get moving first... find yourself alone and the closest target to the enemy and its an early ticket to Davy Jones' Locker. When playing a ship like that, I don't have the patience to putter around at 1/4th throttle until the rest of the team starts moving, so I find I do better by starting the game then going for a piss or a beer or both, come back 2 or 3 min after the battle started and then I can easily catch-up. -
What is causing you to facepalm... enlighten me please.

I agree... its the old adage "a dead enemy cant shoot you" -- which doesnt work for CV's or artillery/torps already in the air/water, but its still a good idea to finish the low hp guys asap.

I've had many games where I didnt get a single kill yet ended up on the top of the "Team Score" page above people with 3 or 4 kills. So the team ranking page must be taking %damage into account. Thats fine with me. I wish they would also give more credit for caps and defends.

That first photo Ive seen before.... I always suspected it was photoshoped. Would love to see video of it. (Sneaks off to youtube search)

I think my following suggestion is easier to implement and would solve the problem:

Sorry double post

I was going to posts some photos of BB's buring irl.... but i came across this and got sidetracked, interesting reading: I have been told that if battleships of the Second World War era fired a broadside with all the guns of their main armament at the same time they would capsize. Can this be true?
-
Viktor, I think my earrlier suggestion would solve your issues too... do you agree?

Sorry guys, Im going to be the outlier here: I dont get the bitching in this thread. Ive played a lot of "free to play" games and I cant think of another one that was less PTW than WOWS. You cant buy any ship currently in the game with irl money that will allow you to seal club or ignore bad playing (trust me, ive tried). None of the premium ships are vastly OP (except maybe Koneg Albert imho). Yes some are strong, but none are grossly OP to the point where they can carry a bad player or allow a good player to perform dramatically better than they would in a comparable non-Premium ship. So whats the problem with Hood? I dont get the anger? If we were playing a game model like WoW where you pay for the game and the expansions and a monthly fee, then yeah ok I might see the anger when new content is not free. But here where you can play the game for free, I don't see what WG could be doing differently and still be profitable. Without profit this game goes belly-up.

It only changes your detect-ability range temporarily, and only for the range at which you can shoot. So a dd with an 11km shooting range would still only be visible to ships within that 11km circle after firing. The BB camping at 20km still wouldn't be able to see that dd unless he moved within the range of the dd's fire. I think that's ok. Its also realistic, when something shoots you can see it from further away.

Super Container Loot Thread [ topics merged ]

Yeah I knew of someone winning an Indianapolis, but that was near when they first started giving these crates. -
I have a Bulldog too, and a wife named Maggie, are you trying to insult me?! I think the whole question of "which Navy was the best" is silly for many reasons, but if one is going to attempt to answer it despite the silliness, then I think the way to do it is this: For the given year, imagine that you have to take a particular country's Navy (ships, people, technology, logisitics, etc) and try and win the rest of the war with it. Which Nation's Navy would you choose? If not limiting yourself to a particular theater (i.e. You need to fight a global war), then from about 1940 on, I cant see myself picking any nation other than the US. Of course I'm personally biased, and have the benefit of history.

Super Container Loot Thread [ topics merged ]
Hawg replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
When was the last time anyone got a ship from a Super Container? I havent heard or read of anyone getting one in ages.... makes me wonder if they have been removed from the loot table? -
There have been many threads on this lately, and in each of them Ive said the same thing. So to be fair, Ill give my suggestion again: Make it so that when an enemy ship is spotted by someone else on your team, you can see their location on your mini-map and map, but can only actually see the enemy ship if you are also in range to see them. This will force people to move into range if they want to do damage. If you want a hybrid on this, the make it where you see only a silhouette of the ship if you are not within visibility range but that ship is spotted by a teammate. You can still shoot at the silhouette (at reduced effectiveness, and maybe a delay?) This would mimic the real life practice of shooting based on coordinates and not visual sight. This would allow dd's and ca's to fight for capture zones and not suddenly be targeted by every player on the opposite team if they are spotted by an enemy ship in that zone. BB's can still lob shells at each other from 20km away if they want, but they wouldnt be able to effectively snipe other players who are not within visual sight and who are trying to fight for objectives.

Talk me out of buying the... BELFAST! (Bought Horst and the Saipan already)
Hawg replied to AndyHill's topic in General Discussion
Shiny Horse was a fun ship in the last ranked season when all the ships were t-7. If modded right you had great secondaries with a +7km range. The smaller guns are a liability against other bb's but still shread everything else. If you want to go head to head with other bb's just go straight at them, letting your secondaries join the battle and then wen in range use your torps. Its a very fun ship imho. Outside of ranked you have to consider mm in your playstyle. If you get in a t9-7 match, you become a heavy cruiser instead of a bb and you need to play it that way or you will get melted. -
There probably wasnt a single DD hit by an air dropped torp in WWII so isnt this as it should be? (I havent verified this statement, just a guess.)

Penalized with 19 pinky games for 1 TK torpedo ?!
Hawg replied to EdiJo's topic in General Discussion
Pink CV's is not a punishment, they are just flat out cool. Don't sweat it. -
Was that me in the OP's video... that happened to me yesterday (cant see the names from my phone). Minotat is a ship that i seem to either get 120k damage in a match or 3k ... never in betwen. It is the classical "glass canon" Ill add that I had a gamethe other day where a Yamato was ignoring me while i rained shells on him... it took 349 hits to sink him...... that was primarily at about a 45 degree angle. If he had turned his attention to me he could have probably sunk me in one or two salvos.
-
Ok refunding current CV's is a problem, I agree. But otherwise, why would anything have to change. All the fun games (those without CV's) do just fine without them and nothing has to be tuned differently. Maybe get rid of useless modules and talents, but otherwise it would simplify things, not complicate them.... right?

Clash of the Elements Commemorative & Winning Team Flags, where?
Hawg replied to Interceptor_One_EU's topic in General Discussion
I'm a big Grateful Dead fan, so I love this flag. -
CV's should just be removed from the game... that's how to fix them. Don't get me wrong, I like playing them, but its a game of baseball in the middle of our rugby game. I have never once thought a battle was better because it had CV's in it, unless I was playing one of the CV's. For the other classes, CV's are just this outside force that has nothing to do with the game you are playing other than to randomly screw it up. World of Warships would be a much better game if CV''s were removed, end of story. If they want to keep CV's in, then make it a mini-game within WoWS. An RTS where only two players play and where they not only control their CV and aircraft, but also the other ships on the battlefield (the other ships would be appropriately tiered ships that had auto fire and torps). Let them play their game without screwing up everyone else's.
