Public Test of Update 0.8.4: Round 2

Play 3 battles with aircraft carriers in Random or Co-op Battles. Reward on the live server: Ten "Type 6" camouflage patterns. Reach Rank 1 in the Ranked Battles season with Tier X ships. Reward on the live server: Five of each of the following special signals: Dragon, Wyvern, Red Dragon, Ouroboros, and Hydra. CV's have been the main concern of development in 2019, sparking the most conflict, creating anticipation for the most urgent changes, and you have reportedly again adjusted CV gameplay, which would require testing. Test Server: "Press "W" 3x4 times, spend a total of 6 second ingame - rewards! Nothing to test here anyways, we don't really care about CV's or anything that flies - remember when we ditched World of Warplanes 2 years ago?" Ranked offers absolutely NOTHING new, save the tiers, and perhaps that odd season of arms race style games every few seasons. Test Server: "Throw out hours, probably days of test-environment gameplay simply hoping that the completely randomly generated MM will match you up with non-monkeys good enough to not throw the game away - rewards! Because this is what truly needs testing!" Priorities done right. Gud jub.

    Poll: Permacamo or special signals?

In all honesty, I think that the winning camo is a nice one, and will be happy to have it on my Minsk, even though I (will) only play it on Operation Dynamo (if it ever makes it back into the game along with most of the other ops). What is pathetic, however, is that this is the SECOND time in in _3_ months that they hide the reward for the greatest activity of daily mission-completions behind yet another paywall - this time in the case of Leningrad. "Here's the camo, now go buy the ship!" Well, I don't have the ship, and unless I SuperContainer it, I won't have it, either. Same goes to Blyskawica. Got the camo, havn't got the ship. Sad part is that you cannot sell these unwanted reward-camos for doubloons or anything in your inventory. At least they had the decency to provide the camo for a silver ship this time, besides a premium ship (just be sure to do 150% of what's normally needed: 30 daily missions). I sincerely hope that in july there will be yet another silver ship getting the permacamo, and not just the next random premium t7 destroyer (what's it gonna be next time? Sims? Z-39?). On the other hand, we DID get a Helena camo at some point (although I can't recall it for being a reward after the 20-daily-mission-thing). Seems this is just another way to stop free exp inflation. Not that I'm worried for myself: I'm still sitting on 3M+ free exp after grabbing Alaska and Azuma recently, and have at least 73 of each special exp/free exp-granting supersignals for yet another farming frenzy... but still. Under such conditions I'd go for the signals too. Monthly 20 or 20+ mission rewards: Silver Ship Camo reward: hell yes! Premium Ship Camo: Fod off. Gimme seegnulz.
  3. Not what I was hoping for, yet quite close to what I expected. Thank you for your answer, and good luck to the dev team when/if they start working on these, too!
  4. Well, the CV events/updates are done, and some time (exactly 3 months to date) has indeed passed since january. And winter is here in game of thrones. So... "Work is already underway to "upgrade" them, and we'll make every effort to put these Operations back in the game." I like the few that are left, especially Narai. But it would be good to get back on the old ones, and I'm sure a lot of us are curious as to how the new planes will act. Also, having some AI'ed CV's in coops were promised at some point (although exactly how beneficial or not this would be, I'm uncertain). Any E.T.A. on these? As long as it's not this:
  5. :D One of my favourite TR experiences was attempting a minotaur vs minotaur secondary shootout. It didn't go really well lol. But at least we learned that it's actually possible to push two opposing ships together without causing damage, lol. :D
  6. I'll definitely test them on TR, too - should indeed be fun!:D KW was also handy to learn the attacking-side of these new CV mechanics while getting some exp as well... apart from that though, I agree on Narai completely! KW and Aegis require a joint effort of collective mass-errors to fail anyways (no real need for squad assembly), and Newport is usually too frustrating to return to. It would be nice to see something for the japanese and german ships again, too. Heck, even UF would be welcome again actually - I loved it with Gneisenau.

    Space camo is back

Confirmed. I learned this last year the risky way. I absolutely fell in love with Moskva's Aurora camo and sfx. At that time I hadn't even started the russian cruiser line, and heard mainly bad stuff about the Moskva in general. But the Aurora camo, and a nearly simultaneous CB-period with the chance to try out the T10 russian cruiser made this purchase a no-brainer for me. I bought it too, and hoped that it'll wait for me in port when I get to the end of the tech tree. In a matter of days, She finally arrived in my port...and the wonderful outfit was awaiting Her in Her dressing room! :D If you cannot unlock Zao by the end of the event, go ahead and buy the camo in advance!:) I'm in the same shoes, and am considering the same thing.

    Exeter - Last stage

For those of you still doing the citadels, don't waste time on BB's or cruisers if you have the DD line. Rush in, smoke and hydro up, mow down the mirror-DD, then go for the first cruiser following it, and give it a salvo or two. Nearly each map and nearly each starting location can help you with an island to line you up even better for an attack. Given how so many people are scrambling with Fijis and Belfasts (and other squishy cruisers), you can be done in no time - those are even easier to cit. The best part is that if you build up your position for good citadels, then you will still not do enough damage to 1-hit your target, plus your reload time will be very fast. This, coupled with the fact that all of your teammates will be lagging behind you will give you great chances at gathering quite a few citadels each round. Got my 3-kills-in-one-game on first try, and the 20 citadels came in with just 4 rounds (3 of which were again 3+kills. Those separately launchable torps can do wonders). Good luck guys, get'em!
  9. Hey Folks! Arms Race, even with some of its shortcomings, was a fun alternative to t9/t10 gameplay besides random, co-op, and ranked. For me it was a balanced mix of other modes: due to its stats not being registered anywhere, people tended to take it less seriously than randoms (such as is the case with co-ops), yet you still get to play in a pvp environment, you gain decent exp/credits similarly to randoms, and there's the speshul feechur of random circles loaded with buckets'o joy for those brave enough to pick 'em up. I also liked the fact that no CV's were in there, and that T8 's were a bit less frequently uptiered during AR. Why is it so infrequent (not counting being the format for the previous ranked season)? Would you like to see it available more often/permanently?

    Azuma coming in 0.8.2

Also, Azuma is just 5 letters long, as opposed to Alaska's 6. Both have two letters on the keyboard requiring and adjactent keystroke. This provides the same obstacle, so Azuma is still somewhat easier to type correctly - making the average WoWS player's life easier. Every little counts.

    Ping issues

Sadly, quite a few of us. 200 players who have been thrown from the server have reconnected within the minute. This is the third time it has happened this night - twice in battle, once just in queue. This last one hit particularly hard: less than a minute away from a 5-star run on KW, and of course, camo/flags wasted this time again. When the potatoes are absent, the server'll seem to work out a fine loss for us. Looking forward to any possible refunds/compensations.

    Exeter - Last stage

Well, my only problem with these achievements as a "shifted-from-randoms-to-anything-else-due-to-CENSORED-CV-update" player is that these crud-fed mission designers are now forcing me to join the one thing in this game that I have been trying to avoid the most. Ah well, not like I log in for fun anyways. It's more of a job recently, so I guess I'll just have to hop to it, anyways. Conqueror, here I come. Should be finished in 2-3 games. At least those games don't require winning.
  14. Just had a nice 700+ base exp coop round while grinding the british missions for X@er. Only on the result page did I realize how safe a victory this would have been without me even pressing the 3 W's thanks to the shiny Mighty Mo piloted by @aboomination - Had I seen you sooner, I would have saluted in battle!
  15. ...And he's very happy to meet you! Sorry to disappoint - no drama thread or CV stuff here! Take it easy, things will be getting better soon! :) Have a nice day - Fair Seas, Captains!

What do you like about patch 0.8.0?

Somehow, Narai seems a lot easier (probably because it was a very recent operation...). Quite a lot of 4-5 star runs happening!:)
  17. Hey-ho, Fellow Captains! A few operations will shortly be gone (on thursday), and although they may return in the future, they will probably be different. If you enjoyed them the way they are, or are simply in need of some quick free exp before Kronnie and Sushi are gone... now's the time! :) Although UF and RR often turned out to be a bit complicated with random teams, the others were quite farmable. From which Dynamo is currently ranking in at #1, by far. With Musashi and Kronshtadt sailing off for an "indefinite period" on thursday ("indefinitely" meaning "will return in lootboxes" in WG terminology), this may very well be the last chance for some of you to do a quick last grind. For Dynamo, you only need 4 players (or rather, in all honesty, 2 good aa-DD's with a decently aiming player - the others are there just to be able to start the operation), and make it 5 for a safe Cherry Blossom. For anyone still in need of a little free (or normal) exp, while having any good flags/camos and a few friends derping around... Suit up, and fair seas! P.S.: Use the "Operations" Channel to quickly find players and divisions - even if you have no friends/clanmates online! --> Little orange chat button in the bottom left of your port --> Select "Channels" --> Scroll down to "operations" --> Left-click --> Win!
  18. Extra bit of help for the last few hours, if you do not have friends available: Check out the "Operations" chat! Quite a few good players and nearly-complete div's are continously looking for extra players - and games start quick even if you have no allies online. Oh, and as a little btw: Those who found this chat seem pretty decent - so far the games I had with random divs created by players from this chat were potato-proof :) (Hmmm, actually, I think I know where I'll search for div's during harder ops instead of just clicking on the "battle" button, lol...) Where to find it, and how: Little chat bubble to the bottom left of the screen, choose "channels", scroll down to "operations", "left-click", "enjoy"!
  19. Mahan is also good if you do not have access to Sims:)

    So no Alaska in 8.0?

lel, major undertaking indeed... towing away two monsters from the arsenal/techtree simultaneously on thursday will be a rigorous effort, without a doubt! May Sushi and Kronnie have a safe tow-trip to the far shores of Lootboxistan... and may their tugboats return to us safely with Alaska after their 6-month-long-journey!

    Playing WoW like WoT

Me too. And since I play a Warlock, I can easily snipe/nuke any camping/hiding/spamming WoT-like player I choose from behind their cover. Worked out pretty well in this game, too. Oh, wait - you mean, WoWS? I feel you. I also like to play in a realistic fashion. More of us should go rescue helpless crews after our kills. Just be sure to warn the enemy team: You mean no harm, nobody shoot please (and anyone named Nobody-something, please do not shoot!), you're just recovering their allied, able-bodied seamen!

Whats the deal with players like this WG?

This. Completely this. I composed a very long post to another thread about exactly the same problem - only to have the server crash (forums too), and lost all I wrote. It is painful and pitiful to watch WG attempting in vain to market/promote WoWS as even a vague resemblance of a resemblance of a resemblance of a [...] fraction of a resemblance of an E-sport game, while even the most fundamental concepts of scoring and the design of the "ranked" competitive environment, along with many events has more to do with luck, and IRL time to spare than actual skills and team-oriented focus. All you need for ranked: - beat your teammate's scores, not your enemy - have waaaay too much time to spare (1k+ games and 46% winrate for a R1 position (?!)) - and simply have luck on your side to pool you together with the better players of that given game Scoring in randoms: - capping is worth lots! - shooting from 20km+ is worth lots! (Provided you've learned how to use your pixelpoopdeck) - killing enemy planes by the twenties is worth lots! (Provided your decently AA'd floating joy has been chosen as the next pokemon of choice by that soon-to-be-potato-syndromed enemy CV). - Being the tank who takes 3M+ for the team is worth... a few Witherers/Arsonists for the enemy team. Points? Nope. - Being the one to risk everything and spot enemies is worth lots... of reports for being a noob and the first to die. Okay, that's actually an exaggeration. You get 1 in each 1000 points you earn for massive spotting - yaaay! - Tactical defence/providing AA deterrence for key allies is worth... reports. Again, reports, for being AFK and not fighting. Well, you will end up on the wrong side of guns eventually anyways, and hell... is supporting even a THING in the 21st century? Shortly: capping and damage FTW, all else is deemed nigh-useless in terms of exp and credits. ...And finally... with winrate being the key (or, in most cases, ONLY) determinant of performance in all game-modes instead of PR-rewarding, WoWS will remain little more than a peculiar, funny little arcade game compared to other, more serious endeavours of competing companies. Funny thing is, that even within WG games, at least 1 is PR-based (WoWP. Or at least was till 2.0.) It would be so simple to come up with more performance-based rewards in all game modes, and such events... but hey. Our "development" team (Development. Haha, get it? Development... hahahaha) is only capable of so much. The only few members I can truly respect are the CM's who do their best to convey our thoughts and observations...only to hit the rocks themselves on the deaf ears of the so-called "developers". Well, hope dies last. There probably still is hope. Somewhere.
