Yes, you are quite right.

1.) Average age in WoT at last consensus was 29.3 :-) 2.) XVM may happen. Two things depend on it. First of all the willingness to make such a program, I reckon that one may not be hard. Second is if WG will allow it to run at all or with restrictions. Before you take the latter for a given we should all sit back and see how the new WG mod-control scheme is developing. I am sure at the moment there exists some kind of healthy respect between WG and the developers of XVM, and that the XVM devs will not introduce such a mod until WG says they are out of the test phase or so well in to it they feel the game is close to fully functional. In the end, none of what we say here will influence any decision made by any parties involved.

Poll: Should Wargaming allow the XVM mod for WoWS?
krautjaeger replied to Darlomidge's topic in General Discussion
Speak for yourself, my un-modded and thus vanilla WoT game has no XVM folder in it. -
They are, in patch 0.3.1 which is coming soon.

Agreed.

And now we know you're just hoping and actually have no knowledge on the subject, because that one is easily averted by technology that is already developed and ready by such simple software as anti-virus. You implement the same routines in the client, effectively preventing such measures. A program works by setting up dedicated spaces in memory, allocation, and you check said allocation for tampering. One does not even have to develop such software, it can even be licensed. Same thing that works if you do have anti-virus installed, it checks your operating system if it is being tampered with in memory.

Poll: Should Wargaming allow the XVM mod for WoWS?
krautjaeger replied to Darlomidge's topic in General Discussion
You are correct, this poll (!) is not significant other than to show how we the forum users feel about it. Just as if you had the same poll on the WoT forums it would not be significant other than to the WoT users forums. But places we are in total minority when it comes to the total player base most of which never even know about mods until someone tells them about it. ;-) -
You do not need to do integrity check of res_mod, the only thing they need to do (and has been mentioned) is to use a certification system. If mod does not contain the correct checksum, it will not run. If you're talking about the hacking of the executable itself that can easily be averted by a self-check that is reported back to the server for verification.

The verbal abuse sucks the fun out of playing CV
krautjaeger replied to Loran_Battle's topic in General Discussion
You do realize that you just gave them what they was after right? The reason people do these things is to pi** people off so they get a reaction, which they did as you quit. Just let them say their shite, if they turn to threats and the real nasty stuff (like wishing death and disease) then report them. Screen shot, report. Done it, the guy got a ban for it. -
Most people have agreed on one thing, and that is if any incarnation of this mod should be kept it should be WG-produced and available to all. And modified to not be as accurate. What is certain though is WG will not let this mod be available to people after 0.3.1. Since WG removed it long time ago, I do not see them putting it back in again any time soon but I do not have a magic crystal ball. So in the meantime you're options are like the rest of us and that is to play more and get better at it.

1.) Yeah, probably going to be a grind like WoT. Nothing really new about that, most MMOs are. 2.) At the moment we're just beta-participants, so not so many, and most are good and polite people. Hopefully we end up with more nice people, or we end up with a lot of "different" elements like/from WoT. How many in the end, who knows, there are a whole lot of ship-enthusiasts out there. It certainly has huge potential. Average age of WoT players were 29.3 years at last count, which means a lot of people 40+ of age. I reckon there will be a lot 40+ in WoWs as well. 3.) I've got no issues with any of WG's European servers, so I can not really say anything else except that. 4.) Too early to tell, economy is hugely inflated at the moment. Best estimate, most credit gain will be around tier 5-6 in regular ships. Premium ships, possibly around 7-8. Still, just a guess. 5.) It's beta, things will get nerfed and buffed on the fly and possibly for years to come.

http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/11327-development-bulletin-031/ In Version 0.3.1, we start tests of a script protection system intended to take control over the creation of undesirable modifications and ensure the client’s security. This will be a long process, requiring constant adjustments and numerous updates before we reach final conclusions. And, be advised: with the introduction of Version 0.3.1 most mods will stop functioning or require profound revision. Unfortunately, on this stage, the effect will impact some of the good, useful mods, but we plan to gradually build up channels of communication with responsible mod makers and even collaborate with them, providing them access to the relevant data. Since this mod, and the different incarnations of it, calls on in-game functions they will abruptly stop working the millisecond 0.3.1 is launched. A lot, and I do mean a helluva lot, of mods for WoT (and now WoWs) calls on functions that is within the client. With no access to call on these functions, mods will have to be rewritten from scratch and that means no fast python scripts but writing new code and actually knowing how to do it. I've modded some serious code in my time, last big one was for X3. That mod just set up for more conflict between the different races, and it contained tens of thousands of lines with code. When you played the game, it just seemed pretty minor. People expect modders to do miracles some times, but most of the time modders are people with some knowledge and has the time to tinker a bit. People will undoubtedly wait for some new, completely rewritten, version of this and others like it but they will have to wait a long time for someone to even start writing the code and by then the rest of the process on securing client architecture has a high probability of being done. After all, WG has quite the head-start in the process as they already are familiar with their code and have without a doubt a pretty good idea on what options they have and what is feasible.

Well, that's where ranging-shots come in though. Firing a few salvo's to get the bearing on a ship so the next one will hit. After a while you get better and better at estimating speed, and your ranging shots will become better. Users of this mod skip the whole process of ranging and skips right to where you have the bearing on the enemy ship. Aiming is supposed to include ranging-shots, or else the developers would have kept the auto-aim in the client to begin with, and is also a reason why it will stop working after patch 0.3.1. You're new to this thread, but there is a lot of information been discussed and WG staff posted replies and information on what will happen next and with patch 0.3.1.

This mod has in some sense become the focus for a lot more than just what it does and that it is for this game, it's become a symbol on how easy it has been to use mods that gives you an advantage over people that does not use it in any WG game. And now WG has realized that they need to do something about it, and again patch 0.3.1 will do away with this kind of mod when they are securing their own files. After reading Ritas blog and checking her source I was left speechless. I knew that WoT had a problem with mods, but when I had a look at what was really available it really made me wonder about how many people actually use these when I am playing against them. And the very creators of those mods are lining up thinking they can spew their abominations in to WoWs as well, though not taking in to account that WG is now going to do something about this. When WoWs have been secured hopefully WoT is next.

I suggest everyone have a look at Rita's blog just to keep informed. That pack also include overview fire, like WoT arty-fire. But still reckoning patch 0.3.1 will do away with this latest incarnation as well.

When I open it, it just says 'we are still working on it' and that's that.

Speaking of chat, has anyone been able to use any chat outside of battle for a while? Mine still says 'we are working on it'.

I do not think they enforce, or will, any specific game language. I find it extremely odd that people just insist on using their own language in a game that is supposed to have players working together for a common goal. Unless people are of extremely young age, or over 80, I see no reason why people can not use English. Everyone today have some basic grasp of English, like 'please come', ' I go', 'stop'. At the most basic level. But even here in major countries, in Europe, where the educational system is way above average they still insist on using their own language.

I've mentioned this earlier, human beings are for the better part careful about appearing "stupid" to others and moderate themselves about things they do not know or know little of. People who flame others are insecure people who thrive on pointing out faults in others to feel better about themselves and do not really want to say the wrong thing to appear like a "fool". The more people think they know about something, the more opinionated they become. The less they know, or think they know, about something the more insecure in their statements they become. Only exception are those with extreme anti-social skills, who would call anyone an arse and rage no matter what be it on the 'net or rl. The latter part have a multitude of psychiatrists, doctors, researchers and whatnot standing by to help them, the regular insecure human being are on his/her own when behaving like an arse and have no excuse for it unless they feel they can back their claims up by "knowledge".

Too much TK'ing ingame report system needed
krautjaeger replied to G01ngToxicCommand0's topic in Archive
^^ This. If that small thing is time consuming then how is your beta-testing coming? -
Yeah, this is pretty much what I am talking about. Nudging gently. Not becoming the über admiral.

If I'm dead I just remind people to repair, if we lose cap and most importantly about time left. I usually call time at 6 minutes.

And this is why our arguments here are just for our own amusements, as such a poll can only be given by WG (please guys, don't let him have your poles :-D).

These threads here are just for our own amusement, and if it goes either way some of us may feel we contributed to that outcome. We here on the forums represent at best 1% of the current populace, and WG ain't going either way no matter how hard we argue for it. They know just as well the ups and downsides of XVM, or other mods, just as well as we do.
