Immeasurable Frustration - The biggest loss streak I ever had at the worst time
WinningSpike010 replied to ColdHeat's topic in General Discussion
You have to take in account two things. 1- "MM is random, teams are random" it's a fairy tale. If it was true it would follow the probability's rules( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Probability ) and either winning and losing streaks would be exceptions. Since in WoWS on the contrary streaks are common (mainly losing ones), there MUST be other rules MM follows instead. IMHO the main rule usually is that "best session WR means best MM". Just after is that "best ship's WR means best MM" (anyway subject to the first, so is fully applicable to the first 1-2 battle of the session). That's why every WoWS player says the best way to break a losing streak is to STOP PLAYING (I know... a game made not to be played seems something ridiculous...). 2- Unfortunately it seems EVERY new patch changes the above rules in some way... So you better remember Sung-Tzu: "He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight." That's it... -
After the new main update MM made the battles unplayable... So: whw
WinningSpike010 posted a topic in Archive
As usual, after the new main update the battles became almost unplayable because of the totally lost teams balancing. Since release of 5.12 once again the winning team has no more than 2-3 losses, the losing instead is ALWAYS totally wiped out or nearly. This happens almost every main update and is somehow corrected in further sub-updates (X.X.0.1/...0.2 etc.). I wrote about this topic many times. But nobody seems understanding how to fix that. So the question is: is it REALLY impossible to prevent this recurrent MM deterioration when releasing main updates? The turn into the BBs+DDs-only battles mode made the game much less unactractive IMHO and doesn't need these recurrent further worsening too. The fixes for these issues are easy in my opinion: 1) to limit the BBs and DDs number in teams to no more than 3 for each class and 2) to become taking into account players' stats too for a real balanced MM... When could it come true?? -

But MM knows that very well... The losing (sometimes even winning) rows everybody experienced on WoWS are far away any randomization statistical rule. For instance... Is there someone that could explain the roandom balancing like the one depicted in the attachement? -

Stated that people NEVER learn, WG can apply the fixes I've suggested to compensate their insanity. Another fix is urgent too IMHO: MM must STOP to put who loses a battle into a noob team on the next one... This is incontestable notwithstanding WG continues telling the story that battles are fully random... They still kidding us with that story... LOL!! Every experienced player can tell that when one gets a losing row the only thing he can do to break it is QUITTING the game for a lot of time or sometimes for the whole day. This is mainly true in the [edited]bonus-weekends where too many noobs play alongside a lot of very experienced players. So after a couple of battle MM starts to build a team full of total noobs that usually make their team lose anyway by camping/hiding/running away/not helping/ not teamworking plus some average and even exp players that were unlucky to lose their first battles and these not-real-noobs get the usual endless losing row. This way a noob too can have a winning row even not deserving it if he's lucky enough to start the day into an experienced team. Anyway what is an objective fact is that MM REMEMBER what your ship has just done in the previous battles and it doesn't care whether that was because of you or not. And that's could be really boring sometimes... -
Pensacola's INSANE detectability range by sea: anomaly or historical feature?
WinningSpike010 posted a topic in Cruisers
I'm very surprised after all these updates the Pesacola anomaly not fixed yet. In fact that ship has the worst concealment's value of ALL the tier VII and EVEN VIII WoWS cruisers. She has concealment 42, and even T10 US and JPN CAs has better!! The T6 US BB New Mexico has a little worse only with value of 39. However concealment value results from detectability range either by sea and air and if the second is not bad the first (15.2 km) instead is INSANE for a cruiser and I can't see the reason... Even NewMex has shorter and she's a BB one tier lower only!! Among CAs, only the German T10 (16 km) and the RU T9+10 battlecuisers has longer (16 and 18 km). I really can't understand if there is an hystorical reason or a playability balancing one, but it seems to me much more as a kind of bug/planning error that has been forgotten to be fixed in all the updates released up to now. If so, it's maybe time to fix it for rebalancing that ship... If not, I'm curious to know the reason why that's in this way. -
Pensacola's INSANE detectability range by sea: anomaly or historical feature?

Sorry but 1-2 km of detectability range more than even a little lower tier BB (NewMex) and some of T10 CAs is out of any balance logic IMHO!! -
Please find a way to discourage the [edited] of lemming trains!

I did this way even alone playing a DD... Won some battles even 1 vs 5-7!! LOL!! -

WinningSpike010 replied to Kazomir's topic in Archive
Lemming trains are most of the time made either by scared noob players that feel theirselves safe (getting wrong...) fighting strictly close to their team mates only (not understanding this way they haven't enough space for dodging... that's why whole lemming train almost always achieve a quick death only) or by own-score-oriented-only (even experienced) players, going where they guess will find many targets. In BOTH cases lemmings care NOTHING about team win or destiny of the others not-lemming mates so they are most of the time a good assurance of defeat for the WHOLE team. On attachement you can see some exemples on how WoWS is now... -
After last MM adjustment I'm seeing teams zeroed again. MM will never be really balanced 'till players' achievements won't be taken into account. However foolish divisions high+low tier still allowed spoiling any balance attempt... Still a long way to make this game really attractive. After the WoT experience I'm spending a real penny for WoWS no more...

Does someone know if a slot comes with Campbeltown after Rule the waves has won? It's not really clear that. The prize seems to be the DD and captain only. But if any slot goes as prize and none is free at that time what it does happen? DD will maybe be lost or it will be saved "in dockyard" waiting for an available port slot? Same about the RN captain too? Waiting for news...

Survey on teams balancing has been a feature that was worth to keep unchanged IMHO. It was a good idea by WG, but why are there no more surveys now? Maybe does WG think that after the more strict balance about ship type every issues has been now completely solved? Latins used to say: "summo ius summa iniuria", i.e. more or less that doing things too objective has usually an unfair outcome. I noticed that team balancing got worse already after update 0.5.9.1, but since 5.10 with German BBs most of the battles are no more fights now, but SLAUGHTERS instead where one team is wiped out almost without losses by the other one. It would be interesting to hear the players' current feelings about that. Some kind of adjustments in teams balancing are needed IMO, maybe taking eventually into some account the players' SKILL-EXPERIENCE-PLAYING STYLE and anyway changing the battle level completely (putting a ship in team with others ONE TIER higher or lower ONLY). Or at least lowering the probability to fight in 2-tiers-higher battles and however allowing it to top-researched ships only but not allowing it would be the only one in the class. Maybe a limitation of the ships number in a class would be useful too. Too many BBs into the team means more camping (due to their long range guns and low speed) and more frequent lemming trains (every BB's captain wants to play close to the other ships because it's hard a BB can play alone and survive). This means also that CAs can't survive for too long especially if they are lower tier so CAs are becoming more rare to meet in-game. This way the game has now lost most of its fun for many players. So I believe that nobody will complain about to get a longer time in queue instead of a shorter time in battle.

Why no more in-game survey on team balancing?
WinningSpike010 replied to WinningSpike010's topic in Archive
Well, they did that a lot of months and updates ago... They should restore that feature now, after the arrival of German BBs messed everything up. And however now it's just the right time to put a LIMIT to the in-battle BBs number IMHO!! LOL!!! -
Do you REALLY think playing against 2 tiers higher ships is better than against 1 tier higher only??!! After German BBs has come, a T5 CA usually fights vs T7 BBs. This way almost nobody is still playing CAs. Now most of the teams are made of 4-5 even 6 BBs, max 2-3 CAs and 4-5 DDs. CVs are almost disappeared too. Not fun if you want to choose your ship by yourself instead being forced to play BBs or DDs only ...

Just one thing is not true here: crossing the T. This tactic is (better: was in past times before AS missiles) good in RL but it's really bad in-game. Crossing the T shows your broadside, letting enemy to get easy cits with APs. Firing APs to the ship cross section (mainly to the bow) is conversly not very effective (APs can't usually deal their max damage potential) so who crosses the T can deals full HP damages firing HEs only (but no cits using them and each HE shell has a less HPs max damage potential than an AP).
-
Right. Too easy: a CA less in standard battle and they had even one TOP TIER CA more. Another almost-zeroed team. At the end of battle our score was 84 (see 3rd screenshot)!!. The reason is in the 4th and 5th screenshots showing how battle has been started: a noob-team-mark LEMMING TRAIN (look at chat messages)!! There are the days when a CA less means the team has either less firepower and players' skill...

8 battles played today... 5 out 8 has been a complete WASTE OF TIME for one team at least (4 out 5 mine!!): they weren't FIGHTS, but SLAUGHTERS instead!! This means MM maybe gets worst fails during the weekend when too many people are playing. I've quitted the game for today... but with this MM I'm not sure if it's worth continuing to play again...
-
More again even in the night with few players... That's becoming really boring!!

I agree that playing against two tier higher ship is really not fun. Anyway when you'll research Omaha's hull 'C' you'll get a 14.8 km firing range, but this won't solve your problem yet because even a couple of T5 cruisers can outmatch your best firing range. Both Konigsberg and Kirov have around 16.5 km FR so they can hit you long before you can do them, not mentioning T5 BBs but your detectability range will be well into your top firing range so you can always return fire if not spotted by another closer ship allowing shoot at you even from a very long range. . The only way to survive playing an Omaha is to learn dodging and not showing broadside and that's quite easy to achieve thanks to her good manoeuvrability (if player has some skill, obviously...). ;) Take into account that the Omaha has maybe the best armor among all T5 CAs so turning the bow to an enemy CA can makes your ship almost invulnerable to T5's APs and your narrow cross section makes hard to hit you even by HE shells. On the other side your APs can easily get a lot of citadels on the above mentioned german and russian cruisers as soon as they show you a little of broadside because of their paper armor. So you have to research all Omaha modules as quickly as possible and to learn taking advantage of her full potentiality and you'll love her more than you do your girfriend!!

I'm going to stop the test for few days. I want to resume it during a XP bonus weekend to see if there will be some differences. In weekdays the battle outcome seems to be less predictable according to the ships being in each team only, but this "balanced" outcome seems to be simply a strict win/loss turnover of 1/1, 2/2 or 3/3, especially at night.
