Forum shows all battles combined, not just Randoms. He has 2662 coop battles and now tried playing against actual people. And he learned that they can be... a bit more lethal than bots.

Wait. You believe you've given them advice? You told them that they suck and shouldn't play PvP. You used slightly different wording, yes, but this is what you told them. I won't judge you for that (ok, I wouldn't judge you if you weren't a sub-par player yourself, but even then I'll only judge you a little) but please, don't try to pass insults as "giving advice on how to play". I mean, if I tell someone to go f*ck himself, I am technically suggesting an entertaining pastime but we all know that's not how it's going to be received, right? I can get behind that. I mean, solo stats sub 50% on 9 out of 10 tiers and overall Random stats in the red or at least orange on every single tier? Yeah, that might be hard to understand, even if you spent some time explaining. ...but I think I do understand enough to give you some Let me phrase it this way: You guys need learn a lot about game play, so try play co op before play random battles. Or at least keep to lower tiers for now. Cheers

That's just how it works when the enemy presents good enough target, you have good enough guns and the luck is with you. Learn how it works and become the occasional deliverer of devastating strikes rather than the hapless victim that just waits to be killed

Well, the problem with t6 is that all the fun ships of middle tiers are at t5 and t7 I really don't get why people would want t6 Ranked... The best tier (for a change from t10) would probably be t9... if only there was a way to exclude Missouri I have no proof but I expect that t9 scoring so low in the poll is in no small part "thanks" to Missouri.
-
Well, this would be a real SUPER test

The display often messes things up - and it gets even worse if you happen to use two ships and enter another Ranked match while the previous one isn't concluded yet...

What level ships does radar now start at?
eliastion replied to dapprman's topic in General Discussion
Yes it is. And while we're at it, so is the fact that icons for various kinds of spotting, it is unreliable and provides confusing information for no apparent reason. It's just like with the rendering delay - players who are aware of it can use it to their advantage, "adding skill" to the game. Still, almost everyone agrees that it should go, if only it can be removed without f*cking over players with worse hardware. -

The fact that a skilled player can play around sh*tty interface isn't a good argument for leaving the interface sh*tty. -
I want 5000 extra! That's obviously what I meant from the very beginning. Totally.

I would be R1 in the next season too! I demand 5000 steel!

They took special modules out of supercontainers, though. But, idk, a full complement of flooding-improving signals for a dedicated BB player? On a more serious note - when the server problems prove serious, especially if they happen around primetime, WG has a habit of compensating with premium time... while it's not exactly useful for everybody concerned, I wouldn't hope for anything more, really. Maybe 1 of each signal flag to make it up to people who got kicked out of the battle and lost the signals equipped (considering that right now a lot of people fly special signals)? But that's already super-optimistic. EDIT: And if things indeed work again, then any compensation is pretty unlikely.

I didn't get booted out of a match, but just now a match ended, I did some maintenance (campaign tasks and such) and wanted to get another battle... nope. So I restarted client and came here - seems like the problem isn't on my end after all

No. If it was t7 battle then there are exactly two possibilites: a) You missed the fact that the enemy did have Belfast, Indianapolis or Atlanta b) What spotted you wasn't Radar but Hydro (the symbol is the same) - this, however, means that a hydro-capable ship got extremely close to you -
What's up with all insulting in chat lately?
eliastion replied to ronin_hr's topic in General Discussion
Nah. You're messing up your terminology. You're talking about things like a gaggle of geese, a pride of lions etc? In this case the correct collective noun is, obviously, a team. Just like for oxen. And it's hardly a coincidence, I tell you. Notice how many of them are there to pull that one cart and good luck having oxen PUSH anything instead. They're also extremely heavy if anyone would like to carry them... The similarities care endless. -

Well, it's just like having them in your team in Randoms. One retard is not that big of a problem - but when you get a bigger group of them? -
If you're into IJN torpedoes, you should probably advance towards Shimakaze. Be warned, however, that while at early tiers IJN torpboats are easy to play, higher tiers get more and more demanding. Landing torps becomes harder (enemies tend to be more cautious as the average level of experience is higher) and the torpedo reload grows to very uncomfortable values. Even IJN signature advantage of stealth (the DD stealth, their torps are the least stealthy) becomes somewhat unreliable AND DDs of other lines have torps that - while weaker - hold some important advantages over IJN equivalents. It's not that the ships can't perform, mind you, but it's much harder to bring out their potential at high tier. Also, one more thing about IJN DDs and the choice you have now. The "gunboat" line actually has three gunboats - t8,9,10. Up to that point the line is still firmly in the torpedo boat territory, generally enjoying less tubes but better concealment. Especially interesting is t7 Shiratsuyu - a strange ship that, tier-for-tier might well be the best torpedo boat in the game. It should be noted that she has significant weaknesses though and isn't recommended for beginners. Her speciality (improved TRB that normally only appears on single-launcher DDs further down her line) requires you to give up on her smoke. When you consider her small hp pool, existence of Radars at and especially above her tier AND the fact that her stealth isn't all that reliable against t8+ DDs... she's not very easy to play. And it's going to get harder with some stupidly stealthy gunboats appearing at and above her tier. Still, since you ask about DDs in the context of good torpedo capabilities of these two IJN DD branches, I don't think the thread would be complete without mentioning that little t7 beast, even if she's most definitely not for everyone EDIT: Oh, one more tihng I don't think it's really a good idea to make plans of keeping this or that ship at this point. Setting grind-goals is one thing, but if you're going to grind through the ships anyway? Just decide as you go - and keep these that you have fun playing. No amount of advice will tell you if a ship is worth keeping - it's always your personal experience that you should consult when making this decision

wg improves the quality of the t10 games - gg!
eliastion replied to a_p_u_l_e_i_u_s's topic in General Discussion
In theory you can be like that without a single premium - the stats shown are for Randoms and it's not impossible to grind to t8 in coop. But yeah, these people are likely playing premium ships. WG really should make it so that you can't take a premium to PvP unless you've at least researched, if not bought, a silver ship of that tier... But that will never happen. Then again, these people kinda pay for our game and these particular folks only messed up a handful of matches, their impact is less significant than my Internet problems - I'm sure I've f*cked up at least a couple dozen matches when my Internet died for one reason or another or the computer gave me some other technical issue. Rather than some random gold newbie or another, I'm more tired of people who properly grind to t10 and then play in (below) 40% winrate 3BB divisions. These guys mess up literally thousands of matches - unlike a typical gold newborn these guys are PERSISTENT. They are there to stay and they usually believe that - having grinded to t10 - they can play and it's the teammates that (surprisingly consistently, for some reason ) drag them down. -
Bullsh*t. I mean, I don't say WG didn't claim at some point that capping gives lots of exp, but it's insignificant when compared to farming damage all match long, especially when you compare the danger involved - at least for anything other than that single uncontested cap at the start. Oh, and then there's the fact that contesting a cap without ultimately managing to cap it (but, say, preventing enemy from doing the same) gives you nothing or next to nothing (I'm not 100% sure that there's not paltry reward for blocking a cap - it sure as hell isn't significant though). But sure, I guess your extensive Ranked experience of having played 15 Ranked matches, 4 of them in DDs, lets you enlighten us on how XP Rewards in Ranked clearly favor DDs
-
Caps give little, spotting damage even less and a DD in Ranked doesn't get much damage done. DDs can progress quickly in Ranked because they're the most influential but scoring high on the team ladder? Nope. They're quite unlikely to score well compared to cruisers and BBs that are expected to deal damage - the activity that gives by far the most XP while being much less risky than contesting caps.

You can try and push something like this through suport ticket. They might do something (but will tell you to use in-game reporting next time). Also, don't post such things on Forum, not with offending party's nick visible. It's against the Forum rules. -
Bonus codes for 300k & 500k views on the Pinup video
eliastion replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
I'm not relating to that. Leaving the more technical details aside - afaik the views are counted by the servers that provide the video. If a video is watched again without re-downloading, it would only count as a single view - because there's never a request made to the server. Plus there are some anti-abuse systems that prevent quickly refreshing a video from being effective. I admit I don't know the details and my information might be wrong/old/inaccurate. But according to my knowledge, that's how it works. So to get another view counted, it might be necessary to not even just hit "repeat" but refresh the page and force re-download. -
Your initial poll was like this: Do you like apples? a) yes, I want to eat nothing but apples b) no, I'd prefer something else c) no, people should stop eating fruits d) no answer Someone who likes apples needs to choose between declaring that he'd like apples and nothing but apples for each meal until he dies OR one that says he doesn't like apples. Many apple lovers will either refuse to answer or will give an answer that they don't like apples. These answers lead to apple-liking being heavily underreported. Thus, the provided answers and the structure of the poll heavily influence the results. Hence, the poll is biased. It should be noted that there's been plenty a Doctor's Thesis written on the topic of poll construction - it's extremely hard to remove bias from a poll and get representative results (and that's assuming that you can actually get a representative sample of population to respond to your poll) but some mistakes are pretty straightforward and easy to spot even for a layman - this was one of them.

What Worcester "needs" is to be vulnerable to spotting. Currently she's extremely resistant to that, not just because of stealthiness (she's not THAT stealthy) but because she has such powerful tools against things that could spot her. Her Radar extends beyond concealment radius and I think her AA extends bast her aerial concealment too? Since people compare her and Harugumo - Harugumo is actually easier to spot for a stealthy DD. When a Shima spots Harugumo (assuming some minimal level of caution rather than charging head-on), she can remain in stealth and force Haru to try and disengage, probably using smoke (Shima is both faster and more nimble than Harugumo so the latter can't really shake her off easily). Worcester - while her concealment is much worse than that of Harugumo - is effectively harder to spot because our Shima (or any other DD) that blunders close enough to spot a silent Worcester is also deep within Radar range. In the end you can't spot Worcester (and not suffer for it). Your planes will droop from the sky, your DDs will be radared for everyone to shoot at and will have problem disengaging - to spot Worcester you basically need to push her with a big ship. At least she doesn't have torps...

From Reddit: The cost of fully upgrading the Clan Base with all new bells-and-whistles =782.300 Oil !
eliastion replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Well I bet the idea is for Clans to actually pick things instead of the "lol, our clan exists for two months so we have everything built already" situation. Let's face it, the "old" Clan system was just there to give people a slow start but it was pretty fast that all the bonuses were the default benefits of being in a clan. Of course, the new system will give big clans things to grind while - by comparison - screwing over the small clans... Oh, well. Seriously, why can't the cost of bonuses be dependent on clan size? Either the costs could scale with the number of clan members or maybe the usable oil would be 100% of earning of top 5 earners + 10% of oil earned by less "profitable" members (so that you don't get too screwed by having people who aren't super active) and balance the costs for that?... Oh, well... -
Practically everybody uses HE on targets they can't damage with AP - like angled targets they can't overmatch. HE gives some alpha damage and - even if not - it still has a chance of setting fires. But "to the exclusion"? I mean, you can say that HE is more dependable but it doesn't change the fact that AP are a bigger source of damage in WoWs than HE and fires combined. At least both BBs and cruisers at the "adult" tiers (5+, where you can get +2 MM, all classes are represented and heavy cruisers start being a thing) receive more AP damage than HE+fire. When you take into account the fact that AP damage is much harder to repair, you'll realize that while the volume of HE fire might be high, it's still a secondary ammo type used used in situations where AP can't be used. And the reason HE is used so much is PRECISELY because AP is so much more dangerous and everyone does their best to position themselves in a way that protects them from AP. Nerfing HE won't significantly change the usage ratio. When AP can be successfully used, people use it already, because it's simply better. When it can't, they'll still use the HE because the nerfed HE is still better than a 0 damage salvo full of bounces. As for people who currently spam HE no matter the situation (sure there are these too, including infamous HE Yamatos), a nerf won't make them realize that they should switch to AP - if they had the capacity to make an informed decision of what ammo to use when, they would be already using AP when appropriate. In the end, your proposition does nothing to limit HE use. It's just a buff to BBs - since they depend the least and suffer the most from fires.
