Where are the Christmas convoy missions?
eliastion replied to bigbramble's topic in General Discussion
Well, if so, then they could now offer a one-time free transfer of an account and people would switch in droves. The only thing that keeps a lot of people from moving is the fact that they'd have to start over with a new account - I'm pretty sure that's a strong incentive not to switch. -
That's a long-[edited]post for someone ignoring the community. It doesn't bother you to be treated like sh*t compared to other servers? Good for you. Quite a few people aren't ok with that, however - and they provide their feedback, as is (officially at least) encouraged by WG themselves - that's explicitly one of the reasons for Forums to even exist in the first place. Feel free to actually follow own advice and ignore them, though - you're not exactly the addressee of any concerns voiced here.

WG pls change new years camo so it is actually worth it
eliastion replied to OopsIPennedYouAgain's topic in General Discussion
Yes, it doesn't stack with signals as well as +100% XP camo. It does, however, heavily outperform +XP camo without signals. Unless you suffer a terrible overabundance of Papa Papa signals and use them in every battle, this camo is still useful. Also, might actually be better with high 1st win bonuses? Too lazy to do the math now ;)- 8 replies

Give Scharnhorst the Cruiser accuracy or alpha it deserves.
eliastion replied to Cpt_Mooney's topic in Battleships
Scharnhorst (from last two weeks): - 5th win% among t7 - 2nd best average damage on t7 (only Flint outperforms it, you know, the ship played EXCLUSIVELY by people who got to Rank 1 in three separate Ranked seasons) - 2nd best average frags per battle (once agains, only Flint gets better results in this category) Yeah, clearly needs a buff, right? Scharnhorst is, literally, one of the best ships on t7. If someone has problems performing well in it - it's most definitely not the ships' fault, even if the dispersion is kinda bad. -
They believe it's a great title for another episode of the "shaft the EU" saga. This stuff never gets old! Marry Shipsmas

Probably a known bug from last time. The game determines eligibility for achievements at the start of the battle. And the "catch them all" achievement doesn't actually check if you got all - it checks HOW MANY you got. So, let's say you start a game. You die. You start another one. You win both - booom, you just got the achievement for first victory twice. You don't get second rewards, mind you (at least afaik) but the achievement itself counts. If you score two achievements twice or one of them three times, you then get the Hoarder despite two achievements still being uncompleted.

New Year Marathon: EU gets worse rewards *again*
eliastion replied to DDMafiaAssociateMember's topic in General Discussion
Their reasoning? Like "we want to milk you for more money and we believe that letting you get something by playing is detrimental to that goal"?- 34 replies

New Year Marathon: EU gets worse rewards *again*
eliastion replied to DDMafiaAssociateMember's topic in General Discussion
WG EU. Is there a way to shaft their players? They'll take it. Is there no way? They'll work extra time just to create it. And I was actually thinking "well, at least this one part of the christmas event really seems nice". Should've known there must be some "f*ck you" hidden in it. PS: To those saying "but it makes Tin can easier" - it doesn't, the actual christmas containers count as containers too, confirmed by people on Forums and evidenced by plenty people already having finished the mission. Do you really believe they were all keeping a stack of unopened containers just for such an occasion?- 34 replies

The funniest thing? OP doesn't even get what's really dangerous in hands of most CV player against his preferred class. I mean, maybe some CV gods can sink non-braindead DDc with manual drops but that's not what I do in my Taiho - because against a DD you need a CROSS drop, preferably a 3-way cross drop. And perhaps there are people who can cross-drop a DD on manual but I'm not one of them - aligning planes so that they drop almost simultaneously is challenging enough so that's the one case where I actually do the AUTO drop or at least 2 auto-drops and a manual one on that one TB that doesn't drop properly due to clunky UI. If the DD plays poorly against this, it gets deleted. If it plays reasonaby, sometimes he just suffers 1 torp. If he outplays me (or I mess up) he can sometimes survive unscathed. It's much, MUCH harder to get results with manual drops. Well, perhaps it works differently in US CVs due to higher torp density making slipping through much harder. ...oh, and let me avoid commenting on "my CAs get wrecked by enemy CVs". Seeing how I remember myself avoiding cruisers unless really lacking other viable targets. The AA consumable is scary and really takes the punch out of a strike even on ships that don't have too good of an AA defense...

Where are the Christmas convoy missions?
eliastion replied to bigbramble's topic in General Discussion
Wrong. If they decided to not do anything, we would've gotten the campaign. There would've been worse deals (as usual) and worse/more demanding missions (as usual) - the things EU team is directly responsible for when it comes to EU server. But the campaign would've been there. Because it WAS there. They literally had to put EXTRA EFFORT TO CUT IT OUT. That's not "not doing anything". That's committing time and resources just to screw us over on this part of Christmas event. -
Afaik? We should get Christmas crates from gilding the achievements. If these guys are right: http://forum.worldofwarships.com/index.php?/topic/108298-christmas-hidden-achievements/
-
Nope, you're correct. That's because you can get a 10-point one from the first stage of the second campaign.
-
I didn't say it can't be done - but it takes the extra effort to hunt them. Or to pick a ship good for hunting them and THEN hunt them All the other achievements just happen along the way, if you play various classes and use signals with some regularity. Soo it's only natural that this would be the least completed achievement. EDIT: On another note - first Gold achievement has appeared!
-
You can't dismiss them. Also - they USED TO take up reserve slots, but then WG made it so they came with a reserve slot by default AND granted reserve slots for every ARP captain already owned, if I'm not mistaken. So, basically (since some captains went to the ships) you actually got some netto reserve slots out of this. More if you exploited the fact that a captain creates a slot if he's added to empty reserve (so filling your reserve before receiving a captain could actually generate extra reserve slots for you).

Landing a torp on a CV. Happens very rarely in normal play - all the others are, indeed "just play some games" or, at worst, "just play some games with camos" or "just play some games in a BB" (for secondary hits). In torp-scoring one you need lots of luck OR you need to alter your approach (and not only go after CVs but explicitly do it with torps). Making it hands-down the most demanding of the bunch.

Where are the Christmas convoy missions?
eliastion replied to bigbramble's topic in General Discussion
Well, the GS-only campaign would've been quite demanding for anyone not paying to get GS early - it would require heavy grind to both finish the last stage of the hunt and the whole second campaign in time. Especially without premium account and/or high tier premium ships (to get 500k credits in a single game mission done). So, yeah, it would be a thing for heavy players and for those willing to pay up (to get GS right away and complete the campaign at their leisure). However - it WOULD have been possible. Not to mention that even if you pay - GS's price doesn't seem like a bad deal (for those willing to pay at all) for permanent camos for all the ships you can get them for with this campaign. -
Isn't PT common for all servers? Of course it hat the campaign. I mean, who* would go the extra mile to remove it? That's extra development time, guys. *Other than WG EU

I can't be sure about this time, but I can tell you how it worked the last time we got similar missions. Basically, there was a bug as follows: your eligibility for the achievement was checked when starting the battle (or even going to queue). What it meant was that if you happened to complete the achievement, leave the match after getting sunk and started another match YOU COULD GET ONE ACHIEVEMENT TWICE. You didn't get the rewards twice, if I'm not mistaken - but it did count both times and the "get all achievements" wasn't actually checking if you have all of them but rather: whether you got the correct number. So, long story short: most likely it works the same now. You guys, most likely, played a match. Died. Started another match. Won both. Result? Your "win a match" achievement counted twice, making it possible to get a Hoarder without completing one of the other achievements.

I happened to get the hardest part of To The Bottom in an otherwise pretty bad game - I was about to die and launched a spread along the line at an enemy CV that was about to hit the border... he even saw the torps but before he managed to steer clear from the line, regain speed and move away, he received the single torp I thought I'd never get for this achievement (seriously, I don't remember last time I scored torp hit on a carrier - and suddenly I managed to get it on like 1st or 2nd DD game with CV present, almost by mistake since I wasn't even trying to CV hunt). I actually scored the CV torp before I did a DD one - with all these smoke-sitters that's certainly something

Where are the Christmas convoy missions?
eliastion replied to bigbramble's topic in General Discussion
You know, people, I would at least feel somehow appreciated if the general tendency of having harsher requirements (as we know: it most definitely happens) came together with being offered better possibilities. You know: harder to get anything (unless you pay) but when you do manage to pull that off, you get things you couldn't on another server. When it goes the other way around: we both get more difficult tasks overall AND the top rewards are worse? That's just a slap on the face. And the explanation that we should be happy because we got a chance to buy the rewards is a spit in the face to go with the slap. I must say - I did play with the thought of getting myself a christmas gamblecrate or two, just to check things out. But like hell am I gonna give WG any money these Christmas. -
Where are the Christmas convoy missions?
eliastion replied to bigbramble's topic in General Discussion
Well, it is SOME form of communication. It's telling us to go screw ourselves, but it's still a communication - so I'd say it's a better thing than just ignoring us completely. -
Where are the Christmas convoy missions?
eliastion replied to bigbramble's topic in General Discussion
Well, EU and their timely announcements are a stuff of legends already, so I wouldn't fret about lack of announcement. ...as for all the other Christmas missions, however, even excluding the campaign this thread is all about... -
This really sounds like an issue for support system rather than for the forums. Forum might help with some graphical issues or some options you can't find - but a captain that goes to missions and returns from them without accumulating XP sounds like a bug to report, really. Ok, perhaps I could advise to restart the client and/or restart it with no mods (if you use any) just in case. But I'm pretty sure you'll end up having to submit a ticket. EDIT: Unless, perhaps, he's stuck at some XP and you miss the retraining counter that's separate from his XP? Although seeing how you have over 400 posts, I doubt you've just discovered retraining without doublons?

I remember some matches lost due to divisions made up of fail-players. In fact, I had one like this just today. I can't, however, recall any situation where defeat was caused by a fail in the form of 1 tier difference between division mates. Sure, being in a -1 tier ship (as in: below the range normally allowed for this match tier) does generally make it harder to contribute, but it hardly seems like a problem worthy of forcing the =tier rule. So, to sum things up: 1. Fail divisions are pretty rare 2. Some people form fail divisions knowing what they are doing. 3. Most of the time fail divisions don't end up as bottom tier (with undertiered companions as -1 tier) so they get balanced against their tiers normally. Actual problems are rare and far between. Why restrict players' options further to fix an obscure problem like this?

Where are the Christmas convoy missions?
eliastion replied to bigbramble's topic in General Discussion
WG:EU. I wanted to write a full post about the issue but, frankly, is that needed at this point? The "WG:EU" seems to be enough... Oh, in another thread somebody wrote about extra missions (repeatable as well as non-repeatable) on NA. I looked up the webpage and guess what... They get: for every victory: x3 commander XP for every victory in top 5: +15% Credits for first victory: 25x Type 6 Camo10x Dragon FlagsShipsmas Event Flag! Ho, ho, ho!
