Take out one of the following ships, and come back later to tell us about the love you felt. - Konigsberg/Nurnberg - Omaha/Pepsi/Buffalo - Aoba/Myoko/Mogami/Ibuki - Kirov/Schors/Chapayev - Emerald/Leander/Neptune/Mino Oh, and when those shells hit you, and in your PTSD from your "BB trauma's", you're tapping and tapping that heal-key, yea, bad news. (xcept for the Brits and/or t8+) And when those BBs shoot you, and at least you know about angling, so you do that, and it doesn't matter cause you still eat a double cit, yea, come tell that too. And when you see an open map, and have to close the distance cause you can't just shoot all over the map, tell us how fun that is. And please take priority target, to quantify that love you feel. christ

Well, my point wasn't that the Z is bad as such, no tier X ship is I guess, but just worse compared to some others. Glad you're doing ok in her :)

I know this is about randoms, but ranked is just randoms but with less ships & no tier differences. Yesterday I met @Ze_Reckless on my team, who had fast fun in his DM. Today I met @Aotearas on my team in his YY who did great job and in my first carrier game in ranked I had @absolute_justice on the enemy team - cause of course - while my CV has 7.6 (...) % WR in his midway, and who had the audacity to AP Bomb Cit me straight through my woosters defAA - yeay the next game I had the previous carrier on the red team - sucks to be them - and @_Kettenbeisser on mine, who had fast fun with the red planes (as far as I could see, game was over fast) And since I finally had r10 (with horrible wr :/ ), and I notice the CV mains are crawling out of their hiding place, I'm gonna take a break

Because it needs its hydro/smoke combo to have an advantage over red DDs. In this radar meta, that is highly questionable. Also, you mentioned torpedo damage, but I'd place the limited range as a more acute problem.

If you'd go smoke, why not gearing?

Every Salem I have seen was beyond useless. I don't understand why one would replace one of the best radar cruisers in the game with an almost copy with inferior radar - at least in ranked or competitive. Also, I'm curious how you played 3 Z-52 games if you're still at the tier 8 ranks... Too bad I can't check it by your stats, which are hidden. Admittedly, very smart choice to do that, given your loud mouth.

Just realized I didn't give any alternatives. Essentials are Last Stand - Surv Exp - Concealment which gives ten with some one pointer (be it PT or PM) RPF for germans still is good, you could do without - depends on playstyle and confidence. Given your preferences I'd say 1 pt PM or PT 2 pt LS + AR 3 pt Surv exp + Super 4 CE + RPF if you'd ditch RPF, you could take additionally Torp Armament Exp + ( PT or PM )

That's your first mistake right there. As Tyrendian said, you don't want focus fire - so DON'T be (one of the) first ones detected, cause you take way too much damage. People for some reason think they must go hyper with german DDs because hydro. Don't. One unlucky BB AP on you and you can go play max range torpedo spammer all game. Good to let someone more sneaky than you go first, and support. Be careful until the BBs are spotted, as well as the most dangerous cruisers. With your 150's, which I took too, you can keep quite some distance shooting DDs, if your aim is on point. With those guns you don't want to brawl anyway. With Gaede, your hydro is defensive in the first place. Hydro rush only if the DD you want to rush isn't too dangerous and has no support nearby. Eh? You certainly like smoke stuff. Dump the Smoke screen expert for last stand immediately please. The Smoke generator mod on a German DD? Err... Have no idea, but it seems uninteresting at first sight. You could go for main battery mod two instead, if you have trouble with the turret speed and dump expert marksman. Demo expert is meh at best.

Tadaa (edit: @JapLance in essence beat me here) Of course WG says the opposite. One of the basic rules of propaganda is to sow confusion, even on the semantic level of basic words. ("We don't sell +T8 ships" - "We are doing our best to fix BB AP on DD" - "We do agree that there are too many BBs ingame, which survive too long" - etc)

I already stated I dislike the Jean Bart (even if it is WIP), and the Missouri is the main reason I said those tiers are relatively ok.

Let this be a lesson to everyone not to trust the WeeGee ministry of propaganda PR department. And I can live with things like Salem. Ships like Jean Bart & Stalingrad (and others?) though, seem very unhealthy for the balance at those tiers (9/10), which until now was relatively ok, as opposed to other tiers that have been infected by the premium disease.

You forgot about the carriers. DDs be oneshottable. CAs/CLs be oneshottable. CVs be oneshottable. (or just deleted out of the game) Only the one true masterrace will be spared!

This. Quite sure it is a combination of bad luck (the t4rds are out in full force, in case ppl didn't notice it), and the fact that the khaba isn't the best carrying boat in the game imho.
