I think we have some misunderstanding here. I agree with everything you say, but you seem to imply that the playerbase has even a vague idea of what they're supposed to do in this game ;) We'll have to wait and see anyway I guess. But I'm quite sure about the HE shooting, once the typical player, at least those that can read, find that firechance number.

I heard that before you know? Remember German BBs, "only good if you close the distance"? I'm not sure what you mean here tbh. What I mean is that this gives way to be the dumbo playstyle that typical yamato/musashi/iowa/richelieu/... does these days - go bow on, reverse, no matter the situation. But combined with spamming HE, just like a lot of French BBs started to do recently(ish).

Agree with a lot. New Russian BBs with most guns in front and very high firechance ("Nelson inspired bbs"), cause meta needs more bowcamping max range BS - while simultaneously nerfing flooding because WG, 2016: "we are aware that BBs survive too long" while giving them radar just after injecting new BS storm mechanisms in the game etc etc Though I must also admit I don't really care anymore, cause WG itself doesn't give a single about the quality of this game - random games are unplayable for half a year now already (had 2 tX games yesterday ending in 8 minutes, 7 of those being purely formal) and cause starting next week I'm not gonna be seen in a DD anymore for a long long time, and I'm gonna annoy people with glorious carriers, or play something else while being babysitted by @El2aZeR (or just go some other game. Cities Skylines (or most other paradox products) is very recommended btw)

Yea I just watched Flamu doing Saipan & Enterprise on PTS. It's brutal. But on live tier 8 cvs barely see tier ten, so it won't matter, right? -

Well I will be the last one to deny playerbase getting worse and worse. Also, regarding original topic. Did some solo games & some divs later with @El2aZeR. I have to agree, was probably worst evening ever in this game. *edit

Sure, I can think about it, but I'm not seeing it. If you click on the link I gave, you can see that the last hour about 4.5K players played wows through steam. Let's say 3K of those play EU, or even all of them. There's 25K players online on EU atm. So I have a hard time understanding how 1/5 or less of the playerbase would give all the problems.

I have heard that a lot since wows went steam. However https://steamcharts.com/app/552990 gives very limited amount of wows players, around 7k peak. And I presume those are spread over the servers.

because they do not indicate ship performance, they indicate average player performance in them Given 1 Majority of high tier games is (luckily) still domination 2 Games are won by information (spotting) & capping -> Assumption: "Real" capping DDs and/or stealthy DDs should give an advantage Why isn't it? This is pure speculation, but the average DD player for a while has been so inept (a lot of games where one team has lost most/all DDs in a few minutes), that the typical khaba style might give his team an advantage: i.e. by not capping and going full suicide, he at least keeps alive. And a living DD, even if it is a pure gunboat, is still better than no DD. Something like that. For "real" ship performance stats one shouldn't look at average pleb stats, but look at individual players, preferably good ones, and make a comparison. I'm not on my main computer now so looking up is somewhat harder, but looking at Flamu, @_Teob_ and @IceyJones gives results more conforming to what I would expect.

You aim for "most likeable forumite 2019", right? Anyway, I'm to blame as well for not clarifying that more, I guess. a. I wasn't stating that I didn't believe those statistics to be true, when I said "not taking it seriously", but more, as I can't take limited statistics like that seriously in a discussion regarding ship performance. b. If I were to take them more seriously, I'd like them to be a lot more detailed. To begin with, only giving solo games. Or, an option to give ship stats over some period, only giving results for ppl who have played all the boats I'd be interested in. Etc etc.

I have had a long suspicion that there's a lot of people who take the "Z is a total bully in cap control" too literally. Z can be a total bully of course, but needs to know red radars before going total ham. Not to mention that any non braindead red DD can troll a Z, a lot. But that would count only for the part of the playerbase that watches streamers.

While I obviously don't blame you for posting them, I can hardly take those serious, seeing that people barely can do better than a shima in gearing or Z. The fact alone that khaba & haru have positive winrates, while the ones I have mentioned (including shima) are all below 50, makes absolutely no sense to me. edit: nm, haru has below 50 as well. Anyone care to explain to me how khaba & haru have 2% difference?

While I'm sure that even our glorious playerbase knows about caps giving points, I would be very curious about a general poll that would inquire if people knew about ships lost giving points to both your (negative) and the enemy (positive) team, let alone how much. Another rule that they seem to know quite well is "the less caps your team has, the harder you need to run to the border - the more caps your team has, the harder you need to yolo, with virtual bonus points if you can do it one at a time"...

There's exceptions to that (ships like hinden etc), but in general I tend to agree. Especially the "very heavy AA" ships like wooster, DM, mino, etc have playstyles that aren't really compatible with fleet escorting.
