There will never be a BB with bigger guns then Yamato...
Prospect_b replied to Jethro_Grey's topic in General Discussion
Do you even understand what you are saying here? I wasn't talking about what he (and comparable others) is able to do in the reworked cvs (although that should be telling enough) but about his analysis. Which is probably a better one than WG has available themselves. Also, people like him did feedback in the rework testing. It all got ignored. Strawman much? -

Prospect_b replied to Jethro_Grey's topic in General Discussion
Excuse me? There have been people like @El2aZeR writing concise arguments about what is wrong with the rework. Too bad it can't be according to your fourth scheme ("Posting "I dont like x because of this and here is the impact of x on the game and here are some suggestion of how this can be resolved without the complete removal of x from the game." BEST. ") cause he proved multiple time the rework is inherently broken. And besides that, he and people like Farazelleth in the days of yore, and probably a lot of other people, have actually given solutions for the old rts problems, or given alternatives to the rework, etc. That just all gets ignored. Are you really playing this card? Unbelievable. Compare it to when belfast was in testing. Every CC said it was broken AF, and I'm gonna guess they mostly did it in constructive terms? (as in "remove stealth mod"/move it to tier 8/...) - and the same for other ships that were broken in their testing. At the end of the day WG seldom gives a flying [edited]if they have set their mind on something. -
The anger was about the lying and scheming by WG, not the idiot long grind. And for me personal, anger because they waste vast amounts of time/resources in bs like that, and premium ship spam etc, but don't even vaguely care about more fundamental problems that have been festering for long time now (ingame balance, carriers, the retarded amount of roflstomps, etc) Very simply put, you have no idea what you are talking about. You don't "outplay" a smolensk, just like you don't "outplay" a carrier. Which is exactly what WG wants, no tactics, no convoluted play where you outthink the other, cause that is all bad for their target audience. Just click left mouse button please.

What's up with the Norse names for German premiums?
Prospect_b replied to Prospect_b's topic in General Discussion
While I admit I was wrong about the origin of the names - I did not know about the coastal defence ships - I also did not just identify them with nazi crimes. Why is it genius? The Norse/Wagnerian names were used by one and only one select class, namely coastal defence ships. These were relatively small ships, nothing compared to the class the ingame Odin/Ägir is supposed to be like. Hence why they probably got their own separate class of names (i.e. the norse/wagnerian) The ingame ones sit somewhere in the large cruiser/battlecruiser class, and there Germany in whichever navy form did have its own name scheme. Which means, historical persons or indeed, titles. Not Norse gods. von Hutten and von Berlichingen were possible names given by Hitler for two of the H class battleships in construction, who would have higher authority in the namegiving than maritime tradition. Amazing you didn't know that, since you seem to know it all. -

Different time period maybe? That's the Kaiserliche marine (ww1 and decades before) you're referring to. The kriegsmarine (ww2) had a very typical naming scheme - like the cities for the light cruisers. The heavier ships seemed to be all important historical figures, be it political (bismarck) or militarily (admiral hipper, blucher, etc) A few others that might have been historically possible are mentioned above by @ImperialAdmiral -
Semi-noob, frustrated and confused
Prospect_b replied to SolanumTuberosumRex's topic in General Discussion
Well, in some cases, good players too would die if they move ahead. It's more that bad players take some "tactics"/"strategies"/... too universal because in essence they don't know what, or better, why they are doing. For example, if the flank you're on is vastly outnumbered, of course you have to play safe, and let your stronger flank do some more active work (which they might likely also refuse to do of course). But the bad players haven't learned that total picture, they only have learned "going forward will kill me". The ultimate example of course will always be the "bow on nose tanking/reversing" tactic. This is useful in a few cases, but in the end not even that much. Their monkey brains of course can't filter which situations, so they just generalize it as the one and only "tactic". (it might not be useful, but at least it's somewhat safe) Hence the musashi's reversing from the literal start of the game. Or a schors I've seen trying to put that off against a missouri (spoiler: it didn't work). Or the best one yet: A bow on reversing Roon -
How to manual attack with CV planes?
Prospect_b replied to MilfHunterTR's topic in General Discussion
You always want some boost available. - Most DDs will have their AA enabled. The moment you see the AA shooting you, you should slow down (can't do that with no boost left), so you can still strike them. That will not work for every CV though (for example audacious and saipan can't do that) - You also need boost for "accelerated bail-out". This means: right after having struck a ship, you max your speed with boost and press F. This maximizes the speed to get them into the "secure zone" and hence minimizes the time in AA. (and as you said, slowing down also helps plane maneuvres) I know @El2aZeR has written a way better explanation for this somewhere, but I can't immediately find it. I'm sure he'll post it here later. -

You can always share replays if you want, there'd certainly be people willing to go constructive criticism on that. My best bet on "best carrier to take the first live steps with" would be ryujo. (or, if you have her, enterprise :D ) -

El2a channel, most vids are ingame recordings with the reticle visible. Mostly shoka, enterprise, midway vids iirc. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD8ItVUX6nkg6nfvu6SZGLw @El2aZeR how much did we agree I'd get for the shilling? -
dd nerf Huge DD nerf might be coming for patch 0.9.1
Prospect_b replied to Jethro_Grey's topic in General Discussion
Way to create a strawman. Nobody said "every" player. Only one BBkevin needs to have it to spot it for all his friends close to him. As for how many? Well, what about you tell us how many of them take survivability expert, which has about zero value and still is taken by a buttload of the genius playerbase you keep catering to? You certainly have those numbers somewhere? And at least the "please nerf DDs some more" module has value, so there will be enough of them - I wouldn't be surprised if about 60% of the BBs will drive around with that bs. And while you're looking up numbers, again my question for the fifteenth time: please share flooding numbers since you nerfed flooding into oblivion. But that still wasn't enough apparently. -

Belfast and Kutuzov are not longer in shop cause after releasing them WG realized that high rate HE spamming cruisers with smoke are cancerous. So they removed them and would never again release a ship with such characteristics. -

WG is the best company ever. At lying straight in your face without even blinking once. The true sign of the greedy scum that they are. Little contest: I'm gonna give 1000 doubloons to whomever gives the most fun idea about how to earn this ship (except for paying half your rent)- 256 replies

Now you're getting it. Don't forget there is no BB problem, it's barely 5 in every game. It's those dirty DDs they have to take on, there's one in most games, sometimes two, have to address that infestation. Good for weegee to set their priorities straight. -

So, how about a DD that has torps with a special mechanism, that breaks the BB module and only will be detected around 400 meters. Let's call them deep water torpedoes 2.0, but better, and deeper? Only 120euro's - buy now. how about a DD that has torps with the locking mechanism that is tested on subs? Yes mister BB, you might detect my torps at 1.8km, and you can run, but you can not hide. Only 150euro's - buy now. My god, I'm giving away all these brilliant ideas for free. -

Not enough. What about we replace all rockets on carriers with heat-seaking ones, so that literally all of them will hit the ship you target? As compensation they do zero damage to BBs, cruisers and carriers. What about we introduce new speshul ammunition? If it hits, it's always citadel. As compensation it doesn't work on BBs and carriers. Am I hired yet Weegee? I can always get a lobotomy to fit in some more. -

I get what you say, and even though one CV ripped more than half of my health with two strikes (just rockets), I wished he came back faster to finish the job, cause the main reason for me that game would be unplayable was the cyclone. I hated that mechanic ever since they introduced it cause it is also just another F you if you have bad luck with your ship pick. -

Just being tired of your relentless empty comments. Congrats on 21k comments btw. Being able "to make a ship work" has nothing to do with being able to fight +2 ships, but 1. making the best of that ship in that particular game and 2. making that ship work in the long term, which will be visible in your stats I'm not even saying that all ships are by definition powerless against their +2 counterparts. Konig can do well against most for example, so can NC, etc. I am saying though that there will be situations (i.e. the combination of a specific map and matchmaking etc) that will give you unwinnable fights. Those are most notable at tier 7 when +2 uptiered (same for the dds). You can not defend (be it angling or outdetecting) nor attack. In the end I fundamentally agree with the gist of what @Excavatus said, that the most important "stat" in this game is personal skill, but I also would make clear that is not visible every game. (Another example, on my NA account I was recently the only tier 6 in my newly unlocked galison game, with double t8 CV on both sides, no dds and a cyclone. There's literally nothing I can do, end of story.) So if you wanna say personal skill is 95% or so of this game, meh, somewhat agree, but that's only on the long term. In a single concrete game it's more like 75%, if it even makes sense to put a number on something that concrete. -

If same tier, maybe. A good example given the glorious recent matchmaking changes: your colorado will see a butload of Jean Barts and Musashi's. You can be a superduperultraunicum, and the other guy a 46%er, you will never win. -

I said it implicitly, for me the most broken characteristic about the smolensk is its "weak armour" (in combination with its damage output of course) Although "weak armour" (with the quotation marks) seems to be a main feature of their bbs too, so what do I know.
