This is a good point to get some perspective. Obj. 260 is tier 10 but doesn't earn premium credits like the Missouri will so comparison is fair IMO, as Missouri is clearly better than a T-55A because of that. I started the WOTs personal missions back when they came out, which IIRC was the beginning of 2015, I got the Obj. 260 just last month, so took 1 year and 10 months basically to get it. It probably took me over 6 months alone just to complete the Obj. 260 missions, thousands of games, huge amount of frustration, playing tanks I didn't really want to play like TDs and arty, playing in ways that were frustrating or not suitable to winning (like camping or ramming stuff or capping), suffering through games where you simply couldn't complete the mission because the MM or map was wrong (like you need to kill TDs and there are no TDs on the enemy team or trying to spot with lights on city maps) To get the Missouri you don't have to do any of that. 1. You can make progress towards the Missouri in any ship you want. 2. You can play anyway you want as well and the better you play the more progress you make (because more XP in a game = more free XP) 3. You can make progress towards the Missouri whilst also making progress towards your tech tree ships, so I can play my Edinburgh and make progress to the Minotaur and the Missouri at the same time. 4. In game bonuses and rewards will help your progress, so super containers with free XP, containers/rewards that give you flags and camo that earn more XP, missions that earn free XP, medals that give flags etc. 5. You can even inadvertently get progress in other games, WOTs is often having missions that give free premium time, so free to play players could earn some premium time in tanks, that is then premium time in WOWs, premium time = more XP = more free XP. Plus, at any time you want you can pay some money to skip to it faster, buy some flags/camos (shame we can't buy papa papa flags though on EU), convert free XP using gold (and wait for sales of this), wait for pay pal gold discounts or get gold packages reduced on premium ships you were going to buy anyway. That gives you options. Pay all the money now to get it right now (if you have the free XP to convert) Pay some money (with all the discounts etc.) and grind the rest, get the ship in a few months or so. Grind it all free and accept it may take you a year or more. That's a way easier, and way more relaxing route than I had getting the Obj. 260, and that still took me nearly two years.

Ah didn't realise Thinder had infected his way over here. I'm presuming your banned on the WOT forums? Be prepared for some 'special' replies gents, the popcorn is well and truly needed when Thinder is active on a thread.

New Missouri premium not world endingly expensive with proper promotions....
tajj7 replied to g1g5's topic in General Discussion
I'm presuming this mission isn't time limited yeh? if so I'm happy to wait and do it through a combination of things, see what offers are about, wait for better XP conversion deals, pick up some cheaper gold from premiums I'll inevitably buy, build up the free XP naturally, use some papa papa flags if I have them, see if I get some free XP from super containers etc. I think I'll end up paying some money for it and kind of part grinding the rest, probably 50/50, it's definitely a ship I want, been thinking about grinding the Iowa for ages (because the Iowa class are cool looking ships, they are real and have a lot of history behind them, plus under siege as well) but I'm not a great fan of slow BBs so didn't really fancy the grind. So now I can can grind an Iowa class BB, that is also a premium, whilst also grinding other lines and playing ships I want to play. Yeh 750k XP is a lot, yes for total free to play players it will take a while, but I'd reckon if they got their 3 try your luck containers each day in those 7k games they'd get a few 50k free XP super containers in there, plus they'd complete missions for free XP, get papa flags, get camos that boosted XP etc.). I mean papa papa flags alone would cut those games in half. -
Thumbs up from me.

Played my first game in the Burgh last night, 126k odd damage on a loss, where we lost by 2 points as the timer ran out, was just one enemy Warspite less but they had held two caps for a while and I got pushed of them by an enemy Belfast and Gneisneau. Ship felt very good. The most noticeable difference for me was the heal, seemed to heal up a lot of stuff and fast, took a big chunk of damage from a BB but got myself back to like 20k HP. Also managed to charge down and beat an enemy Edinburgh, about the only ship I could tank shots bow in from whereas he kept broadside to me so I got about 8 citadels. Detection range (10.2km) and the super heal where the big noticeable differences, everything else feels very similar but a little better, are the guns more accurate on the Edinburgh, do you get more pen? cos I feld my salvos on BBs were more effective.

Scharnhorst bought via doubloons - Can I get my money back?
tajj7 replied to BruceForce's topic in General Discussion
Whilst mine seems to struggle to win, the ship is excellent, you feel very comfortable being aggressive in this ship because of the speed, agility, turret turn times and torps. It takes a little while to get used to what ammo you should be shooting at what and where, aiming more for superstructure hits on certain ships, not afraid to use HE etc. which I'm still learning but aside from that it's awesome to play, plus it gets top tier most of the time. Only usual thing I find is I go aggressive and get one of those teams that just watches me from 20km away. -
This would be an indirect nerf to British cruisers though. Personally i'd like to see something done around citadel damage, take less citadel damage or make them less smaller, reduce the chance of them being hit through the bow/stern. Citadels IMO are the main issue for cruisers. Then something should be done to range of BBs, that would help cruisers be in the same sort of areas as BBs and help the meta more forcing BB players closer. It's clear the the best performing cruisers have some sort of stealth ability (either stealth fire or smoke) and usually a heal as well, indicating that survivability is a clear issue.

I free XP'd to the Fiji and I'm like 1/2 games from unlocking the Edinburgh and so far it's been fun. The Fiji (and the other British cruisers) have smoke and heal, this means you have survivability, you still don't really want to shot at and still can deleted by stray BBs shells but you at least can do some damage fairly risk free and take a hit or two without worrying too much. Several games I've taken like 40-50k in damage, which in other tier 7s just makes you dead, you are less worried about fires for example. I am a little worried about the step up to tier 8 as it will be a lot harsher MM (tier 7 is pretty sweet at the moment) and I'm not sure the Edinburgh is a huge improvement. Luckily I got some Dragon flags in a super container so hopefully in about 15 games or so I should get my 5th Captain skill so that coupled with concealment equipment should drop the concealment quite a lot for the Edinburgh over the Fiji, I'll be playing most of my Edinburgh grind with less than 9km spotting range, compared to over 11 with the Fiji. But aside from that it's not much of upgrade, same guns, same ROF, similar range, similarly terrible armour, similar speed. I've found the AP only fine, when you get broadsides and you get broadsides you absolutely wreck BBs, getting 4-5k damage numbers every salvo.

Er except if an enemy BB can shoot either you (a cruiser) or your friendly BB he's going to shoot you 9 times out of 10. Sailing in support of team mates is fine in principle but doesn't actually work in reality because if you come and add your support to a BB v BB engagement, the enemy Bb often turns his guns to you because he knows you are easy damage as cruisers are so stupidly squishy. Agree with what has been said above, Cyclones remove the only real defence cruisers have against BBs (and even then it's pretty weak because BBs can fluke citadels at most ranges and any angle). At range you can remain undetected, find island cover to lobs shells over, smoke cruisers can slow down and smoke up, kite shells and rng is more of your friend. At 8km you have none of that, you are just a big relatively sluggish and extremely squishy target with no alpha strike damage (unless you can hit many torps (which 8km is not a good range for), low hp and generally no repair. Cyclone basically says here BBs as if feeding on Cruisers was not easy enough, now you can stumble upon them at optimal range where you can barely miss but still dodge their torps.
-
I don't do that well with mine, but I find it's often in tier 10 where the meta punishes it at times. Like the game I had last night, you have like 16km range and then the BBs, yours and theirs sit at like 20km in long firing lines sniping each other, so whilst you have the stealth to remain undetected most of the time, if you get into range to fire you suddenly become this cruiser target that is much closer toe the enemy than most your team and in front of all these guns. Means I end up feeling I'm not doing very much waiting for opportunities to happen, seems better on the smaller more island maps where you can often ambush people and find smaller engagements.

Went pink last night, whilst it was partly my fault, I have no regrets. Was in my Myoko trying to torp something, friendly Russian DD just cuts across me from by blindside (so he was behind me) and eats a torp. He starts going ballistic in chat at me and starts shooting me, demanding I apologise or he's going to torp me. I ignore him for a bit as I'm in a fire fight trying to shoot a BB and make sure I don't get deleted, and then when I go to type in chat I see him closing in on me, so I finish him off with my guns. Not having that threat hanging over the rest of my game. Think it's the first actual TK in game I've had, not much happened, little fine and you go pink for a bit where you have to be careful the next games, so it's not much a problem, only real issue is if you repeat it. Unless you doing TK damage game after game there is no real reason to worry and if you are doing TK damage game after game then you are either doing it purposely or being very careless and either way the punishments are correct.

Tier 7 and 8 Cruisers are in a very bad spot. Something needs to be done!
tajj7 replied to Kazomir's topic in General Discussion
Well you will probably naturally get more divisions up because people will see all their clan mates online and have their own clan chat so might see more people to play with beyond their friends list. -
Yeh thought the same, don;t think the deals have changed since friday.

tajj7 replied to Kazomir's topic in General Discussion
Are they? Or are you massively over simplifying those results? For a start, not in damage or amount of plays they are not looking at that list, Bismarck, NC and Amagi ALL being played more than the cruisers, all doing more damage. More players = worst player ability on average, and the British cruisers are benefiting from good players free XPing up the tree, that will skew the results and the rest are premiums that benefit from from good captains and no stock grind. So lets look at the cruisers that you say are 'dominating' - - Smoke is common for several (Flint, All British, Kutuzov) - Heal is common for several (All British except Belfast, Atago) - Being premium is common for several so good captain and no stock status (Atago, Belfast, Kutuzov, Flint etc.) - Plus the British ones have probably been played by better players due to free XPing/rushing those tiers. So no smoke or no heal and cruisers don't dominate it would seem, the only non-premium regular cruisers appearing in your list are the British ones that have both smoke AND a heal. Yet at tier 8, there are 3 BBs there, mass played (so played by worse players on average), stock grinds to go through, no premium captains and yet they are winning games and doing more damage. Clearly when it comes to most players and normal grinding, BBs are clearly dominating. The Edinburgh needs smoke, heal and being exposed to way less bad players to get just 1.38% more win rate than the Bismarck and it still does 15k less damage. So for Cruisers to dominate they need a much higher average skill ability, a heal and smoke, yeh seems balanced. What's clear from that list is that cruisers need more survivability, for those without smoke I'd suggest heals from at least tier 6 and across the board I'd reckon either ability to repair more damage from citadel hits (like 50% say) or just make them much harder to citadel. Because it's a game and should be balanced. You should be able to take any class, and if you play it well and you should make a big contribution. -
This. I don't want a cruiser meta, I don't want cruisers to be OP, I just want to be able to play my cruisers and know that if I play well I'll have a meaningful impact on the battle and know that if a BB player plays badly he won't. I do not currently think this happens, whilst I am quite willing to accept BBs should and will always be more forgiving, I think that some of them are currently too forgiving, some cruisers are too hard to play and some of them playing well does have the impact it does.

Super Container Loot Thread [ topics merged ]
tajj7 replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
Got 100 Dragon flags yesterday when going for a credits container, which for someone like me who doesn't play that regularly is excellent, was the one thing I was hoping to get because it means I can get my British and Japanese cruiser captains to 15 points a lot earlier. With the flag as well you are talking 18 - 20k Captain XP a game. -

Wow amazing, what a gesture, thanks guys. ID: tajj7 Ship: Graf Spree if its out or Dunkerque. -
So we get deals on Monday? odd choice to be honest but there you go.

If anything in the world says sad little man, it's anime. Like that is my instant thought when people start discussing that, but as long as it doesn't infect my game time I don't care. So I like what they did with ARP ships, where that anime rubbish is basically hidden from me.
-
Typical WGEU to be honest. Was hoping they would have the everything flag package or something at least.

So lo0king at those two sets of numbers posted above for tier 6 and tier 8, I think it's very telling there that your two newest lines, one BB and one Cruiser - The Bb line has 23% (Bayern) and 17% (Bismarck) And the cruiser is down at 8% (Leander) and 3% (Edinburgh). So Germans BBs alone (presuming the pattern is similar at tiers 5 and 7) are close to 1 in 5 of ALL ships in the main tiers people play. One class from one nation is 1 in 5 when there are 4 classes and several nations? Clear problem.

Cruisers have become too squishy making them basically more fragile than DDs because DDs don't get a citadelled and are undetected a lot of the time. At the same time, BBs have become too well rounded, most of the things that killed them reliably have been nerfed in some way over time (Fires, DD torps, CVs) or they have been buffed or given tools to counter these things (better AA, hydro, captain skills, buffed secondaries, improved agility etc.) Those two things then make it like you have now where they are the most numerous class you see. You can work your a rse off in a Cruiser for 100k damage, most of which will be in fires that BBs can completely heal, spending most of your game desperately not trying to get deleted by the 5 or 6 enemy BBs. Trying not to lose hp to enemy cruisers because they will shoot at you because it's easier damage than shooting BBs and trying to avoid getting spotted by DDs cos they will light you up for BBs. Or You can sail around in a BB, that many of which are as fast as cruisers, some have 10km secondaries and hydro so barely need to worry about DDs near them, you'll barely see a CV anyway so not much to worry about there and anyway your AA is generally good enough to avoid taking heavy damage, you can get spammed by shots and repair most of it, taking 50% sometimes even 100% damage over your already very high HP and the only real thing you have to worry about is not sailing broadside to other BBs. It's no wonder most players, particularly average ones will favour BBs in the current state, you only really have one true enemy, other BBs, with luck you can delete cruisers and get massive damage numbers, you have the tools to keep DDs at arm's length and you can make mistakes for days and get away with it. Why would you bother playing a cruiser where you have to play so much better than you would in a BB, and still have a less of an impact, plus your mistakes are punished massively. IMO CBT had better balance than the game currently.
-
Well it makes sense if it helps balance. And 'relatively safe', I'm saying take the ability to Citadel away from the front, not the ability to pen, you could still easily do 8-10K AP salvos, that is not 'safe' in any term. ------------------------ If people think the current meta is fine, they seriously have the heads buried in the sand or they are a biased BB player.
-
I'd give away my Simms if I could, but to be honest those beta ships shouldn't be sold. I'd be tempted by the flag package, but no dragon flags puts me off, not really 'All' flags is it.

Bogue - Why does the 2 fighter setup even exist?
tajj7 replied to ColdHeat's topic in General Discussion
I think it's pretty 'un smart' that people don't realise Game Balance > Real life, always. There are 10 people per team, one should be no more important than any other. So no, the job of the team should not be defend the CV. The CV should have been set up as a team support class because that makes more sense gameplay and balance wise.
