    Premium Ship Review: USS Missouri

LOL! Hopefully, i'll have my system upgraded when i got this ship, Co-Op is an OK training room, it looks a lot less memory hungry (reason why i personally don't play Random since the last "big" update), but you earn quasy nothing in comparison and it's often way less intense, so the goal still is Random... Plus, i can't complete my missions in Co-Op. I did play Random and went up the USN line up to the Baltimore, with the Des Moines in mind, and the North Carolina as well which i like, but after this update, i couldn't play higher than tIII without my system hanging from frame 1, half a second ping and the rest of it, in many case i got killed looking at the loading screen, so i do myself and any team no favour even trying... I did try it with the Dunkerque, i got 0/0/0/0/0 as result. Right now, i got to log out of the game after each round or the whole thing slows down more and more after each round until at some point it wont even start, so i don't know about the other guys but for the time being i stay in Co-Op...

    Premium Ship Review: USS Missouri

And yet (no confrontational attitude or personal attack meant) you mention figures perhaps out of reach of most newbies, a "good" game is not my usual when it comes to this tiers with all the best guys out, so i'm gonna have to soldier-on with half or less than that by game if i'm lucky. So perhaps again, talking about the fine points of high skill game play for days on end would be a good idea because bowin'in, we learn fast, but the rest of it takes more time and a little read on those subject would be welcome from time to time. Especially for a ship we look forward to get, because some of us doesn't spend time with a ship in a line once we have it, and try to get the one they want if it's the next, like the Des Moines. This tIX id gonna do me because i dont want a USN BB in tX, i am still not sure which, i wont try the Yamato so what else? Then of course i need to learn how to use them, tiers vs experience is not always the same for everyone. So we end up having to face high caliber players with ships we don't really know how to play to their full potential and just the basic knowledge of bow-tanking or tactics we elaborate from building a little experience with the ship we like. I feel very much that this ship plays a little like the Dunkerque, am I wrong? If that's the case, it's the ship for me, i play Dunkerque most of the time, still being stocked in Co-Op for cause of a system hanging up on frame 1 when playing Random above tIII, i also got my Captain Seagal on my Colorado so as to train him for the Missouri. All in all this sounds good, i got a third of the FXP already, thanks for the infos!

    Dunkerque (Tier 6)

I wont reply to the usual mediocre flame baters and tarzoon emulators banging chest implying they're better than you at every opportunity, here is an intelligent comment i respond the same way. YES i realised that a long time ago playing WoT which is full of that if you see what i mean, but there are 3 things that makes me respond to bullies this way: 1) W.G rules. 2) The fact that i am NOT mother Theresa. 3) If you let them do they will do it again. Otherwise said, little provocations, bullying, blue on blue firing, stalking, and the rest of it demands MORE than what W.G is prepared to do, simply because they dont want to loose customers and are much too lenient toward bullies stalkers and the rest of them, in real life, at least in the UK, those are punishable crimes, even online. I guagantee you that when they get hit vandetta fashion a few times, they start to figure that perhaps it is not a good idea to take the mickey with another player, you never know, IF you chose to give the other cheek, then THEY already know that they can and will keep at it. In WoT, my cr@plist was way longer than the number of players you could block, i'm not going to let those geezers bullie me in THIS game, as for support IF i did send them the replay it wouldn't be in the hope to escape punishment but see them spanked like DOH kids they are (and if they're adults then they are challenged in more than one way). I got torpedoed at least once every 5 games by friendlies, i voice my feelings but will not retaliate nor repport for a mystake, but THIS is something else and is relevant to psychiatry, those guys need corrective therapy, a little bit of their own medicine helps.

    Dunkerque (Tier 6)

It looks like they've been playing WoT for too long... Now i have set up replays, so i can bring evidences to Support, i'm not gonna get bullied over here too, not that it worked that well for the bullies in WoT either, some guys whould push you out of your hide, over a cliff or in the line of fire of the red team to take your position or a shot, obviously i turned blue more often that not...

LOL! Those carpet bombing entire areas with H.E in the hope to torch you? Some Brits are doing it too, not to mention Atlantas or other US Cruisers...

    Dunkerque (Tier 6)

  10. I got hit more often by allied torps than by the bad guys, MANY DD and Cruiser players have NO clue when to use torps efficiently, not to mention.... They will try to finish the demolition job you started, miss the red, hit you and let the next trheat alone (the one that will finish you both that is). The complete DHO syndrome.

Bots: Skill levels in Co-Op compared to Random?

I've learned to play a lot more aggressively with North Carolina and Dunkerque, not being too tactical a player, i still find it hard to get the right ballance between aggressive and "support from the back", i do engage from max range but i dont hesitate to get close and personal, now i got a few trick on my own... Yes, bots play to win, in Co-Op you see all type of human players facing them, the BB campers that are happy hitting a few in a pack then capturing a flag when on the next some guys get slaughtered by the heavies, and the Kamikase style throwing himself into a rain of shells, between the two, it is where this right ballance still eludes me sometimes and lack of experience makes it more difficult not to fall into the classic trap. Anyway I think i am learning and making progresses, i dont play my two favourite of the moment the same way, i know it's Co-Op but when i got this sort of result (screenshot) i'm happy. I just had a game in Random, by accident i must say, i thought i was in Co-Op, it was barely playable, starting with 0 frame rate hardly going up to 30fpm with frames dumped every ten sec or so, but what i noticed is that most of my team was miles from the read heavies. We were 3 on my side, a DD a Cruiser and myself (Dunkerque) and obviously we got slaughtered in little time, i managed some good hits in the DD and Cruisers who were the closest, but considering the condition (more than one second between firing and next frame) there is only so much i could do. I don't even get upset anymore, i guess i will have to adapt my play style to that once my system is sorted and i go back to Random...
  12. When I first played this game I though "wow! I''m not that bad at this", but then I realised I was playing against bots although some skilled tactician for some, when I went to Random thing started to change. LOL! I'd be interested to know what's the average skill level of those bots compared to the average player's skills in Random, particularly since my system still lacks in memory and random is quiet unplayable (especially from tIV upward) until I get my Corsair DIMM sometimes next week. For the moment i'm limited to tIV/V max in Co-Op so I sharpen my tactical and gunnery skills with, anyone have some graph/scale on this ? Thanks in advance and world peace! Errrr, fair seas! [edited]

Rest in peace Cruisers, may you be remembered.

If you know how to shoot at long and medium range YES you pen them, you wont do that by aiming at the water line though, but as i said, i use HE for the first 1/2 salvo or vs DDs and i got pen from the bow as well, i managed to get a citadelle on a North Carolina at 18km with the Dunkerque. That's the very last thing i would do, or only for a very short time with the Dunkerque, first i face every ship from long range or the start of an engagement, I favour high-speed but when not possible i also brawl backward when needed. I use this maneuver when they are equiped with torps, if not BB which can hurt a lot when showing them a broadside even for a very short time (you need a perfect timing and then again it's not a good idea to show a BB your rear side), i do a quick 180 after the last salvo when the ennemy ship is commited to a run or/and in torpedoes range and coming my way. Not only i deny them their torp shoot but i keep them under fire for the whole time, i rarely get pen from them during the maneuver and damages from DD and Cruisers from the rear are not much higher. Generally it end up with a few hits from them but no pen, while i reload, my secondaries are wrecking them (i maxed out my ship's upgrades and Captain skills for the purpose of using the 130mm Secondaries, next, Manual Fire Control for Secondary Armament) and it's already showing results, (i did sink a lot of DD/Cruisers with those 130, even finished some BBs). After that it's a matter of giving a few degree of angle to shot backward once reloaded, Dunkerque rear-firing angle is really good, it works every time, and when i am not engaged by ships from different angles it's real safe, i control the engagement. What you say proves my point, most players (even bots emulating the trend, since i play mostly Co-Op until i can upgrade) chose to fire H.E, it became a fashionable thing and something else, i rarely got citadelled by those guys, they dont try, they dont work at their skills, as simple as that and i should know, before the memory-heavy update, i grinded the USN Cruiser line up to the Baltimore with the Des Moines in view, i made a point of getting pens and citadelles. And that's not misconception, it's MY experience of the game, you might have a different one.

Rudder = Gouvernail. Shift= Basculement. Pour vitesse tu rajoute Speed. Rudder Shift Speed.

Rest in peace Cruisers, may you be remembered.

Originally, if i understood well what was explained to me, this "RNG nature of fire" thing was changed to favour of H.E in the hope that players not to camp, but it had the opposite effect, people still camp but on top of that they dont even try to pen anything, i figured this after i procured the premium Atlanta, which i hated and sold rapidely... When i took my decision to splash some dosh in it, it was the result of a video showing just that, camping and spamming HE but then i didn't know the game and havent experienced this unpleasant play style myself. So much for a skill considering the results, to give you an example, i have the same 35% hit ratio with a Dunkerque than many guys on more accurate Japanese Cruisers and i always start engaging at long range, whatever the type, from agile DD to BBs, with ONE or two HE salvo, passed that i pen them if they are not DDs for cause of over-pen, and i collection the citadelles with it. Now, to counter this HE B-S, from Cruisers and DDs alike (I can understand DDs firing HE since they cant pen anything), i did find very useful to max-out my secondaries, show them my back and let those 130mm chew them up clocking 29.5 kt out of range of their torps, then finish them with an over-the-shoulder 330mm salvo, since i adopted this tactic, i'm laughing at them. Fire can be repaired to an extend citadelles cannot and scoring pen requiers a lot more skills than setting a ship on fire, i can do that too (the 330 HE pens Cruisers very well)...

Rest in peace Cruisers, may you be remembered.

Arffff. I was joking! Not implying you do HE spamming etheir, but i still dont like the H.E spamming thing, it's not a tactical move it more often a case of lack of gunnery skills for some players...

Hitting the Citadel of a Scharnorst/Gneisenau

If W.G did indeed compute ballistics as they are behaving in real life, this is only an object obbeying to the laws of physics, gravity AND aerodynamics. A shell "flies" only in virtue of its propeller mode (detonation in a confine environment tend to have this effect on objects), with a little help from aerodynaic characteristics (rotation, shape etc tend to result on a limited amount of lift*), but then it's shifts to natural laws after all those forces ballance each other, gravity takes over and bring the shell back to hearth at an increasing rate, as does aerosynamics (drag vs lift* + thrust) as the shells looses its velocity. So at the end of the trajectory, your shell lost its speed, it became proportionally draggier and more subject to the effects of gravity, simply because the effects of what sent it/kept it in the air are fading, so it is only normal that the curvature of the trajectory increases with flight time, especially because speed decreases and drag increases exponentially.

Des Moines - The Monster AP Machine - 6 kills, 228k damage

All ships i played are good with HP, it's a matter of choice, some players became what i call "HE invisicampers" from the moment (i've been told) HP was nerfed by W.G in the hope that people would stop camping. BIG MISSED. They still camp but instead of practising their gunnery skills, they did figure that carpet bombing an area with HE firing in your general direction could eventually work. VERY ennoying when you play a BB, but playing the Dunkerque, i figured that the answer to that is to max out your secondaries (130mm), who fired HE back at them (since they already have the tatse for it why not?) and show them your back, with 29.5kt on the clock, not only you avoid their torps, but you can laugh looking at your secondaries munching them up, then finish them with an over-the shoulder salvo of 330mm. I guess i'll love the Des Moines, at the moment i'm literally stocked in Co-Op playing tVI max because the last updates were too heavy in memory and my system struggles to play without hanging on frame 1, but i did research the USN Cruiser line up to the Baltimore with Des Moines in mind. Can't wait for an upgrade...

    Royal Navy CVs

It's a real pitty. Now that i play mostly a BB and got done more surely by CVs than anything else, i can tell for sure that keeping it as it is would force players toward a more collaborative team work, i mean i like to play USN Cruisers as AAA platform, all they would have to do is to give more points for downing A-Cs. Because right now it's a bit of a sacrifice, if you protect BBs and other assets, down 18 A-C in a game as i've done once with a New Orleans, it is not really rewarding, which is rather unfair, considering the impact of preventing the loss of one or more ship of your team from air raids. I'm not "offended" when i loose a BB to a CV, i'm ennoyed and i curse the absense of AAA cover... Let's hope they dont go too "historical" with the quality of RN Aircrafts because without being formulating a dumb critic, if there are underperforming embarked A-C in the history of WWII those would be the Swordfish, WG staff might be crying at the pain of having to model them, but "historical" Swordfish aren't going to be much trouble for same tier players in the game, all you need are good AAA ships...
