^^ Exactly.

I think this would be more helpful. In current meta killing DDs with a CV or crippling them hard enough to leave them out of the game is so easy, for exp. in Randoms i sometimes pass the DD intentionally so he thinks i over-passed him and hit the ship right behind him because i know when i turn for a strike or the next round i can still hit the dd. It has nowhere to go.
-
This is already an upcoming change but i think it will help only with the initial spotting. DD will be spotted whether AA detection range is full or half and speaking strictly of ranked, the CV player won't let him go away to look for other targets unless it is between cruisers or in smoke. When the DD is spotted all a CV player has to do is drop a fighter squad, make a quick turn and hit. Then, hit again and only in two salvos potentially 8-10K from DD HP pool is gone. This upcoming change of half lowering DD air detection is not a solution to the whole broken class of CVs and their interaction with DDs but rather a band-aid for competitive modes like CBs and semi-competitive Ranked. On the other hand, this band-aid may cover more wounds in Random mode as there are many other targets for a CV player tho choose from.

Maybe only T8 and above DDs should be given somewhat similar AA to Halland if =>T8 CVs won't be balanced. It won't be effective against great CV players but considering they are so less in overall CV player population as most of them (if not all) being only in top clans, this could help DD players in more than 50% of their games.

Cheers mate, i didn’t play Yamato for quite some time. I think it was a different Executeorder66 :) -
Good ships you have horrid stats/performance in, and what you're doing wrong

Not a single kill in five games, low xp and only 44K avg. dmg/game. Do you think there is a slight chance that you got carried? -

@Europizza I wonder if this falls into PEGI12 rather than PEGI7? Azur Lane app has 12+ age rating btw.- 87 replies

Which ship do you find hardest to play well?
_HomTanks_ replied to Gebbly's topic in General Discussion
When i first had Tirpitz i used to rush like a noob and got killed. After playing some battles in it, i started being more cautious and used torps only when needed, it worked. It usually takes me fifty battles to play good in most ships. Some take longer, and Soyuz apparently will take more games for me to get better in it. -
If you are a collector, very much yes. If you are not a collector, don't have other Free XP, RB, Steel, Coal and Premium ships, very much no.

You can't position against a CV with a DD. CV rockets will hit the DD regardless of the angle. And that's really not limiting anything. It all depends on the enemy ships, their HP left, time left, and the score for a CV player to decide whom to hit, when to hit. Above, you are describing your personal preferences which are kind of irrelevant. Plus, in the end, CV will still hit, nothing limiting. And if you think AA matters in this reworked mode, we shouldn't really continue our conversation. Because i also play T8 CVs and know how AA works, what it does and what it doesn't. What do you mean it is not quite as real? It was deadly real. I played thousands of games during RTS and know how no fly zones were with Mino and such. It would be delusional to think an enemy ship positioned well and hence, you couldn't hit him with planes. The best answer to that would be lack of skill. How can a CV not hit a surface ship with be it fighters, TBs or DBs? It requires special achievement to miss it. A BB or cruiser can out maneuver some torps but not all. If all torps miss the target, it is a learn to drop issue. Same with DBs. RNG can be involved with AP bombs but the bombs would still hit the BBs or Cruisers. If they miss, it's because of lacking skill. And if someone misses their rocket plane hits, they better play another class.

To me it’s bad bro. I look at it as if those numbers are not purple I am not making the ship work well enough. -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
_HomTanks_ replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Yea it is a good idea to be prepared from now and I think it is better to play them fully upgraded with decent captains. -

If you already have Yamato and bought Izumo, it means you want to give it a try. If you will play it to see how it performs then you need it fully upgraded. Get the range module first, then hull and lastly the engine. -
And how do exactly surface ships limit or block CV from anything? During RTS it was possible to set area denial zones with DM and/or Mino. Even AA specced Hindy or Zao were strong against planes. Now CV can just approach (this word is important as no plane was able to approach a Mino in RTS) and nuke any Mino. DM or other ship. How are they limiting CV? Or during RTS CVs could strafe each other and spend time fighting against one another. Now it is not an option as CV vs. CV interaction is removed (no, putting a fighter squad is not an interaction in terms of spending time with each other) and hence they focus more and only to surface ships.Since the thread is about ranked battles, when and how did you feel limited in your CV? Do you seriously think a skilled DD, cruiser or BB player has good chances or any chance against a skilled (in your terms, exceptional) CV player? There are skilled players that will rank out in surface ships quicker than most others in CVs. That’s because many bad, average, good and highly skilled players play CVs in ranked as it is the most advantageous class of the game. There are skilled CV players that will rank out quicker than skilled surface ship players. As of now, there is an Enty player who ranked out in 52 games by playing Enty only. It doesn’t mean he could do the same in a surface ship. There are average CV players that will rank out much faster than average surface ship players. There are bad CV players that will rank out faster than bad surface ship players. The exceptional players In general and regardless of a class simply play exceptional and get outstanding results. And how often do you meet them during the whole ranked season? Once, twice? They are less than 1%.
-
If it makes another class unplayable or obsolete then no.
-
It is also the case for CVs. For instance, it requires a great virtue to wait patiently for regeneration of planes, skill for killing DD, foresight with 150knot planes, improvising from TBs to DBs and adapting to this whole situation.
-
Right. The only time when competitiveness kicks in is when it comes down to saving a star because if your team is running towards a clean victory, it is a victory anyway. When losing though, things get tough and tougher. I also understand your point of competitiveness from completing the season in minimum amount of games. If one is trying to achieve that in a surface ship patience, skill, foresight, improvising and adaptation are must, IMO.
-
My excitement towards this competitive mode ended around season 10, now we are in 17. I'm just playing it for the rewards and try not to care too much while i play because seeing AFKs, Kageros without camo and dying in 3-4 minutes, or yolo rushing BBs, or cap rushing Le Fanta getting killed, or team killers etc. in your team removes the competitive feeling and brings frustration. This is not competitive like CBs where everyone knows each other, know where to go and have common priorities. Ranked is just Random in 7 vs 7. Showing the carrot (rewards) to the players isn't enough to make it competitive imo. But gotta admit, playing against CVs is always competitive time wise (i wonder this time how long i will last).
-
Of course, a good DD player is not doing nothing, they try to cap, spot, torp, shoot, etc. But a good CV player will and can always shot them down which will block/limit the DD player from doing many things they should be doing in the game. There were games like that, i felt like i did not do anything because i couldn't due to the CV but my team won in the end. But does this change the fact that CVs are brokenly strong against surface ships and DDs in particular? IMO, no.
-
In your example, NC was obviously a bad player. The biggest problem with CVs is their interaction with DDs. A bad player like NC in your example can jump into a CV and ruin the game of a super unicum DD player by keep attacking him/her with rockets, keep spotting them and eventually getting them killed. While the CV player's overall game play skill is let's say not even half the DD player's skill, he uses the advantage of a broken class to overcome enemy DD player's better game skill advantage. I hope it is clear enough.
-
I saw you in one battle where you played better than enemy CV and we won the game. If enemy CV is good, DDs have zero chance of surviving let alone capping or torping. There have been games i wasted all 7 smokes in Cossack or Lightning and enemy CV still sunk me. Because they can. CVs are the most unfair class in this game and imo, ranking out in a CV in below 100 games does not even equal to ranking out in 200 games with a surface ship.

It's not time being well spent but rather suffering for the rewards. Always have been, always will be.
