@luokailk It will be a difficult ranked season as It is 8x8 and there will be seven random players on your team compared to six or five previous seasons. That means it will be harder to carry, more effort to save a star which also means choosing the right ship will be very critical. Definition of the right ship is not what others think which is good for you or for the Meta but what suits you best. Choose the ship you perform best in it, you enjoy playing most.

ST 0.9.9, new permanent camouflage for Bismarck (DB 69)

Sailing cathedral or sailing town on a battleship? Where is the barbershop? That looks ugly... -
yea, the randoms quality is so low, 99% of the time you are at the mercy of MM when playing solo, doesn’t matter if you are the best player ever.

Alabama is a good ship.

The suitability of a ship is determined by the player. I think we agree on this. Choosing the right ship for the meta is one of the skills that separates a good player from an average/below average one. I define the right ship as the ship which is not the one over hyped in YT or in forums but the ship player knows he does well in it. Also a suitable ship doesn’t have to have a 19 point captain. In this context, yes, ship is part of a player’s success but it is because he/she has the skill to choose the right ship for themselves in the first place. There are many players that think if they had Pommern, they would have played much better, except they would not. They want to believe in this because admitting they have poor skills would be facing the reality which is harsh for many to do so. I understand your point and don’t share the same view because i don't think there is a bad ship but instead there are bad players who can't make a ship fully operational. On the other hand, as you noted, some ships have win rate gaps between them and I think this is because some ships are easier to adapt&play and good players take advantage of it (or abuse it). It is not because bad players perform incredibly good in those ships. Yes, but this only confirms what I wrote about ram-trading ships. If a player rams an enemy player like the one you described it almost guarantees the win, so it is a good one. I know what you mean by the third guy and agree with your points. Just saying this is a ranked sprint mode, meaning fun mode. It shouldn’t be a big deal if the game is lost or two people should be able to carry their team as they work together versus one would have to carry not one but two random players in solo play especially when there is no cooperation which is even more frustrating. Having more than 2 people in divs would fall in CBs as per the past experience we had until now and I think the more people you’d have in a division the more negligible solo players become because the enemy will be suffering from the same situation.

Public Test - Megathread for rewards & updates

But the tier of ships always changed, it would be boring otherwise. I understand your point but don't agree with it. From my experience, players did not need a pre-selection. I have all the ships for this event, except Pommern but i have the coal for it if i want to get it, and played Jutland out of all because i wanted to regrind it. Also, i never took Sprints seriously, because they are a fun mode. So, i had very easy time ranking out in Jutland with 10 point commander. If i wanted to try hard, i could have gotten a div-mate, taken Alaska, Siegfried, JB, Musashi, or purchased Pommern for coal or some other ship, but tech tree ships just do fine regardless of the maps. I still don't get what you mean as you don't explain how everyone would be eligible, as if right now they are not eligible....A player with 130 or so battles can participate to this event (which is why part of your frustration btw). How much easier could it be? Sure, it is in WG's control but it is their game. It is normal for them to set up the ranked season and decide on the choices. Or is it your expectation for player base to decide on what ships to bring , how many ships and which maps there will be in ranked seasons? Or is it even a fault WG setting up these events? This could be a feedback to developers. Let's be fair, you want everything. You want to have fun, you want to have the reward, you want to be able to grind your ship in this event, and you want to rank out as soon as possible. Well, you can want, but it doesn't mean you will get all of them :) You could have stopped when it wasn't fun anymore but you didn't because you wanted the 10K coal. You could have brought another ship that would suit you better, but you didn't because you didn't spend time to grind for other lines. But players will always be hammered regardless of the ship, event, maps, etc. For instance, in order for you to reach a higher rank you should win i should lose if we are in a game and in opposite teams. Next game, Player John Doe has to beat me to reach higher rank. See, i keep getting hammered so others can have fun. This is inevitable. I could lose a game to John Doe even if i played Alaska, Pommern or other overhyped ship. Should i go complain that Alaska or Pommern sucks in this meta, these maps are not for these ships, etc? Would it make sense? :) There are many players who sucked in these ships by the way. Because, i don't see leasing ships as a solution, because i don't believe in the idea of ships decide whether it's gonna be a win or lose. I believe in the solution of a player getting better with their skills.

1) Thousands of people can/do participate. What rules have they changed? 2) How would/could you ensure hundreds of thousands people will participate in the events? What kind of design are we talking about here? What do you mean by ‘fairly’? 3) But it is a known thing for years and you wrote previously that you had access to those clan battle rental ships. If you didn’t try and see that you cannot mount anything on them, is it on WG now? To answer your question, it could be a big issue playing without camo for any DD as the detection range is very important for them in especially these small maps. 4) Yes, upgrades take time to grind. I was also doing a re-grind of my Jutland and happily re-grinded some part of it thanks to this ranked sprint event. 5) Ok. 6) But there were different maps in this event and many premium, tech tree, coal, RB, etc. ships shined. Good players were able to use and abuse all sorts of ships. Poorly skilled players did poorly even in ships people complain about. I don’t agree that people who play poorly or can’t select proper ships are of lesser intellect. I know people who were in top200 nationwide college entry exam and sucked in this game. It all depends on the time spent to play. Practice brings experience, that’s all about it. 7) So, by this event you got extra coal and grinded some of Izumo. Well that's great, isn't it! 8) This is not the regular ranked season. This is ranked sprint which is the fun version of ranked where in many ranks you don’t lose a star or there are irrevocable ranks and everyone starts from rank 10. Regular ranked season is the real ranked event and is harder to rank out. Of course awards in the regular/real ranked season are better as well and the duration of regular ranked season is quite long like 5 weeks iirc. Regarding the duration between ranked seasons, it is really short. One Ranked sprint season ends, in a very short amount of time the regular ranked season starts and when it ends the ranked sprint starts. 9) Of course it depends how long they played. We are talking about grinding lines and reaching tier 9 ships here. How else will you get to tier 9 without grinding? The only other option is fxping which I keep it out of the discussion. Again, regarding appropriate trees, i don’t really agree with such a thing. Any tree, any line and ship can be appropriate to anyone but every ship in every line may not be appropriate to everyone. One should grind the line they like to play because they will perform better in a ship they like playing. For instance, if you grinded Mogador maybe you were not going to perform better in it, but many people did. There are also people who did good in Izumo. The player defines what ship is appropriate for them, not the game. Of course there is always hype in the game, polishing x,y,z ships in forums so they can sell more of them but again it is up to a player to buy into that or not. I know non-premium players, without premium ships who are super unicum. I think this explains. 10) I don’t think leasing ships would solve the skill problem. Besides, there are so many ships in each tier, I don't see the need to do that either.

@Figment I'm trying to understand your point, help me out here. - You know Ranked Sprints and Regular Ranked seasons have always been at different tiers pretty much every season. Until now there has been 17 Ranked, 13 Sprint seasons, total of 30 Ranked seasons is a lot to know what is happening. So we are clear here. - Your expectation was to have rental ships like in other events although it wasn't the case for Ranked seasons (hence, it was known beforehand this is not gonna happen with this ranked season either). - Rental ships cannot have camos and upgrades utilized on them afaik, so it'd be a bigger disadvantage to play them with worse concealment in small maps. - You had access to Izumo and bought it before the event so you could grind your way to Yamato although now you'd have to play some battles without upgrades perhaps? Which would hinder your ability to play it better. Unless you fxped and fully upgraded it. - You didn't have any other tier 9 ship available at the moment to play. I understand one may not have enough time to spare for a game, it is perfectly normal but i don't understand what you mean by fairness. Do you mean it would be fair if ranked sprint was held in a tier you had multiple ship options although these events are designed for general players and cannot be tailored to specific individuals? There is also this, not everyone has to attend every and each event. For instance, in this event you didn't have ship options because you didn't have time to grind other lines, but you played in this event anyway, right? There many other players who have all most of tier 9 and tier 10 ships but couldn't play on this event because they did not have the time. There are many players who had grinded tier 9 ships and also played on this event. Hence, it is totally up to the player if they want to invest their time on grinding multiple (say) tier 9 ships and play on this event or not. For instance, next ranked sprint season will be (most possibly) a different tier and you may have more options in that tier compared to another player. Or, One year later, when you have multiple tier 9s and 10s, and having no problem with ship selection for the events, a new player with low amount of games will come to forum and say, but they didn't have the proper ship. Then, we will explain to that person again, there has been ranked and sprint ranked seasons including ships from tier 6,7,8 and it will happen again.

Slava,Thunderer, Yamato, Kremlin dispersion
_HomTanks_ replied to Puffin_'s topic in General Discussion
And i wrote people asking about dispersion pre-release Slava compared to today as it is released and everything is known about the ships makes it irrelevant. It is not my reading skills but your comprehension skills that suffer. Try re-doing elementary school. -
It wasn't a true sale event where price of a product is discounted as happened in previous events. It was rather shady with the name sale and targeted people who have gambling habits.

Yes but you gotta remember the 50% of the player base has around 47-48% wr. Even if these players had the 53%wr ships, it wouldn't make much difference because the problem lies within themselves not the ship. I agree. An average player who grinded Ostergotland instead of Jutland, Kami, or Mogador, would have harder time ranking out. But, again it depends on the captain. Many captains who had these Kita, Jutland and Mogador also didn't rank out in short amount of games, meaning they couldn't play these ships good although the ships were good for this meta. Ramming can be good or bad depending on the situation. It is bad if the player miscalculated his gunning or torping skills and using the ramming option as a last resort that may hinder team's win. It is good if he knows for sure that his team will win the game if he takes out that specific enemy ship by ramming. When you are solo, you get matched against solo and division teams. I was matched against enemy teams where there were unicum divisions multiple times. But beyond this, two men division in a three men team has much more impact on the win then all solo player team. You wrote you played in division and the third random player was not reliable hence causing you losses. Well, solo players have two other random/unreliable people, everyone is random , everyone is unreliable unlike division teams which is why many people do divisions in the first place...hoping for better win ratio to rank out quicker.

Slava,Thunderer, Yamato, Kremlin dispersion

Doesn't matter. Are the 10-15 posts back then questioning the dispersion relevant as it is already known now?
