Gamewise the Karlsruhe is synonymous for extremely bad, the Svietlana is another animal entirely. It has a broadside of 8 130mm guns, though 1 gun has a poor firing arc, a decent rate of fire (6 rounds/minute, 6.6 with Basic Firing Training) and a fine shell trajectory. Though the torpedoes themselves are bad (5km, 52 knots) you have two triple launchers on each side of the ship with excellent firing arcs. The rest of the ship such as hit points, maneouvrability is adequate. Range is relatively short (though not as short as the Karlsruhe) but longer than it's detection range by a margin of approximately 2 km and can be extended with Advanced Firing Training. With Expert Marksmanship the gun traverse is good enough to keep up with all but the most violent turns. The ship, as far as I can tell, has two major weaknesses. It has a vulnerable engine which is easily knocked out and it has poor AA defence, which may sometimes be an issue with the Langley sealclubbers roaming about. Cheers, M

The Bogatyr is one mean dirty ship. A very good combination of excellent firepower, decent speed and good range. The Svietlana has a similar formula. Cheers, M

I don't like cruisers destroyers: 1. They usually slightly slower barely faster than destroyers cruisers. 2. They are more easily spotted fall apart way faster then destroyers cruisers. 3. Launching torpedoes Sinking ships with guns is harder than destroyers cruisers. 4. The die more easy then battleships cruisers. 5. They have no healing. What are the real adventages of cruisers destroyers? 6. Higher firing rate than battleships They have torpedoes, but so do most destroyers cruisers. 7. Cruisers Destroyers have kinda ideal for aim botters/assisters for torpedoes cause of higher fire rate and somewhat larger survivability than destroyers and are more stealthy. 8. Might be able to turn ships on fire but so can destroyers cruisers. So no real adventages, let's try again: 9. Obviously sonar engine boost... but how usefull is it really ? Vigilanity/acquisition skill of captain Sierra Mike flags can already do something like that. 10. Which leaves AA defense smoke screen which I am not sure how it exactly works, but I suspect it makes the torpedoes go wide and the bombers shells also wide, not sure though, not sure if this is the plane that does this or this ability. 11. Indeed can launch an use AA defence plane sometimes... weak sauce it seems, rarely intercepts shoots down anything... CV planes too fast and I can easily fly around it. AA planes sucks. Or are they responsibly for widening of torp/bomber ? Or both ?

MasaruKondera you lucky, beautiful bastard, you owe your division mate a beer. I salute you! Cheers, M -
Soooo... someone is complaining that a T7 destroyer took 5-10 minutes of his time to solo his T5 battlecruiser? What the heck did he do, sit on the toilet reading comic books all the while? Cheers, M

Colorado Starter Guide - What Should You Upgrade?
Meneleus replied to AsturiaDE's topic in Battleships
If you are playing a Colorado in a T8 or T9 match little changes. If anything, the need to close the distance becomes even more important since you simply can't compete at the extreme ranges featured at those tiers. You will need to use terrain features to your advantage for cover and to maintain concealment. Most maps the Colorado fights on present these opportunities, such as North, Hotspot and Two Brothers. All ships suffer when facing higher tiered opponents, though some ships suffer more then others. In my experience US dreadnoughts tend to struggle in these situations Cheers, M- 27 replies

I'd like to sign up for the event. I have a Kagero and a New Orleans in my port and I could re-purchase a Mahan if needed. I would prefer to play a Kagero, though I would not mind playing a US ship in order to properly fill out the teams. Cheers, M

This sounds pretty interesting, I'd certainly be willing to participate. I can play Axis or Allies as needed. Cheers, M

Colorado Starter Guide - What Should You Upgrade?
Meneleus replied to AsturiaDE's topic in Battleships
I really wonder why people put as much emphasis on range as they do with the Colorado. The dispersion at long range is pretty bad and the tendency for people to max it out and sit on the edge of their range is counterproductive. When I played the Colorado I played her as a brawler, try to close in and mitigate the dispersion and let your heavy calibre main battery do work. With close in I mean 10km or less. The Colorado does not have a lot of hit points but it does have excellent armour. It also has a very good AA suite worth investing in. My suggestions would be as follows: Unless you are a New Mexico fan, sell the damn ship. Upgrade to the B hull as fast you can (free XP it if you have it), then select engine and C hull, finishing with the improved FC module. As for upgrades, aside from the obvious ones, take Steering Gears 2. Another excellent pick is AA 2 to extend AA range by 20%. As for your captain, select Basics of Survivability, Expert Marksman, Vigilance and Advanced Firing Training. If you have the points Situation Awareness is excellent, Basic Firing Training is nice. Superintendent gives you an extra Repair Party charge, yet as I'd recommend to take Repair Party 2 you would already have 4 charges. If you have a very experienced captain Concealment Expert is awesome to have, as is Manual AA control. Nonsense. The NC is a very potent ship. Armour is decent, excellent pool of hit points, potent guns with excellent range and, most important of all, speed. The NC is so much more flexible then the slower dreadnought-type battleships before her that the speed alone makes her worth it. Cheers, M- 27 replies

Short answer to your question is: You don't. The Myogi is a battlecruiser design, while the Wyoming is a battleship. This means the Myogi is specifically designed to counter cruisers using a combination of heavy guns and speed while the Wyoming is designed to take place in the line of battle, sacrificing speed for armour and more guns. The only way you are going to beat a Wyoming is either by a running battle where you kite away from him, or by engaging him indirectly, by which I mean he is pre-occupied with something else. If a Wyoming is aware of you and keeps angled you will not be able to sink him, nor should it be your priority to do so. Look at the bright side: when you get to the Kongo potatoe time is over and all will be gravy. Cheers, M

The sound played when modules are disabled or destroyed is just horrendous. Someone compared it to a 56k dial-up modem and he is right. It is THAT bad. Please, ffs, hotfix this, it is torture to the ears. Cheers, M

I think all of that hype is just conspiratorial nonsense from the ministry of tinfoil hats (the one next to the ministry of silly walks). WG aims to make money, not to enact a silly revenge scheme for acts beyond it's scope to control and would only hinder their primary aim. As for "Stronk" Russian ships, and the large number of them coming out, the answer is simple. It is their national heritage, and Russians I am told are very proud of their history. I guess that information pertaining said ships is more readily available to them too. Simply put: if WG was a French company you'd be complaining about the strength and numbers of French ships in the game. Cheers, M

Comrade Stalin sends reinforcements - Soviet cruisers revealed
Meneleus replied to RoyalColor's topic in Cruisers
Everything is subject to change. It might be that they have become more careful viewing some of the problems a few german cruisers had at release. Things like shells landing nearby and spooking the hamsters, causing the hamsterwheel-powered engines to fail. Cheers, M -
Pensacola balanced at tier 5 (read the last paragraph)
Meneleus replied to fallenmemories's topic in General Discussion
We will see how well the Russian cruisers will perform when they are available for the general public. As far as I have seen things do not seem to be as bad as you portray them to be. Cheers, M Edit: You might want to edit your OP to clarify sarcasm was used. Many people seem to be oblivious to the fact... -

Arpeggio phase 2: EU missions are *very* different to the SEA's mission
Meneleus replied to Yuzral's topic in General Discussion
I think that high kill requirement will add quite a bit of frustration to the game. First game in, get stuck into a battleship brawl and a clown on my team fired all his torpedoes in the middle of it... Of course he missed the enemy battleship. Of course I ate one of his torps. Let's hope this is an exception and not the rule coming weeks... Anyhow, glad to see some more Arpeggio content. I do like lengthy missions, they give a sense of accomplishment, the rewards are nice and you make a helluvalot of credits not to mention XP by pursuing them! Cheers, M -
As the title suggests I am worried about the Mogami concerning the upcoming patch. Currently I use her with the commonly used 155mm setup and a captain with the Basic Firing Training, Advanced Firing Training and Expert Marksman skills. As it currently stands I have not seen any modifications to the Mogami specifically. In this scenario the Mogami will be indirecty taking a tremendous hit because of the upcoming skill changes. In short the range and rate of fire will no longer be improved, and the benefit to turret rotation is much reduced. In essence it loses the competative edge it has over the 203mm setup, which in my view will become a better choice. In this scenario however, the Mogami in essence becomes a gimped Myoko with 1km less range on its guns. For me this is simply amazing, a brutal hit with the nerfbat causing the ship to simply no longer be competative compared to the Atago and the Mikhail Kutusov. The ship can still be played to some effect of course, however, the idea that premium ships are simply better is in my view a very, very bad development. Cheers, M
