  1. I am unaware of a petition to undo the changes made, though I would not be surprised if there was one. It seems the changes are here to stay, if they are not I have not heard of anything of the sort. Cheers, M
  2. The analogy you made here is so disproportionate it is disingenuous. As a matter of fact it is just as rediculous as the OP's reference to players favouring battleships as the "BB mafia". Learn and adapt. Like the light cruiser and mogami players did when changes were made regarding their captain skills. Cheers, M
  3. Because some nebulous assertions are an adequate rebuke to an in-depth commentary of 26 minutes right? Try again. I consider that a legitimate complaint. It would have been the correct thing to allow the IJN captains specialized in the affected ships a free respec in the light of the changes. Cheers, M

    Any tips on North Carolina?

I found the North Carolina a joy to play. After five sluggish ships I celebrated the increase in speed because it meant a drastic increase in flexibility, something her predecessors sorely lacked. When I played her I specced her for AA to improve her considerable AA even further. I prefer to close in with my battleships to medium range or even closer if I can manage. The NC can angle bow-on with the majority of her firepower available. The angle to use the rear turret is rather poor, making it a risky proposition the closer the enemy is. Her maximum range is gigantic compared to older USN battleships and, while her accuracy certainly is not worse then the Colorado, it can be appaling at ranges of over 20km. This might create the impression of a lack of accuracy. Close in to remedy this. The NC can use the Concealment System upgrade and Camouflage to lower her concealment to cruiser levels, allowing you to cease fire and disengage or turn when the foe is outside your concealment range. Situational Awareness is a must for this. Cheers, M

How much money have you guys spent on the game?

Depends how large and competative you want your army to be ;) Regarding the topic, I have been playing with a premium account for some time now using the basic needs package (includes 1k dubloons which I use for swapping and transferring upgrades), perhaps 6 months or so? I purchased the Murmansk, Anshan, Ishizuchi and Aurora, most with special offers. I guess a bit over €100,- or so. Cheers, M

    Another noob question - sorry

ZombieCheese is right, all hits register regardless of inflicting damage or not. This is most visible when shooting 203mm AP vs angled battleships for example, or when bombarding them with HE shells after the superstructure has already sustained a lot of damage. This is one of the reasons why I prefer ships with rapid-firing, low calibre guns when doing missions requiring a certain number of hits. Cheers, M
  7. As long as WG releases premium ships which are clearly superior to regular ships they are a cancer to competative play. It is akin to allowing certain athletes to use performance-enhancing drugs. If they somehow level the playing field in this regard by adressing the balance between premium and regular ships it would be much less of an issue. Regarding aim-assist programmes being available atm I can only say that I expected as much. To have a Kiev captain unerringly aim amidships of my destroyer at ranges of over 10km kind of gives it away. I am wondering what they are going to do about it next. Cheers, M

    Maps Ocean and Strait

I really like the Ocean map. It offers a proper naval encounter, offering a lot of room for maneouvre, and I have had many excellent games on it. I am less pleased with the Strait map. I think the map is awfully confining and essentially robs you of freedom of movement, which is what I dislike most about it. It forces you in a funnel, the only alternative being leaving your comerades to rot while you use the back door to the other side, which happens far too often. Cheers, M

    A dying game

  10. I specced Hiei likewise. I used the ship today and it was hilarious, despite the rest of the team folding like a piece of paper. Cheers, M
  11. Interesting thread. I think people are mistaken when they assume damage dealt is the standard on which ships ought to be judged. The same goes with the idea the whole game evolves around the idea of rock/paper/scissors. The way I see it the game is about defeating the enemy by either having more points at the end of the match, completing the mission or having sunk all enemy ships. This is achieved by ensemble, different ships of different capabilities working together in order to maximize each other's effectiveness. Rock/Paper/Scissors provides a general rule of thumb, a very situational one, and one that is bound to have an increasing number of exceptions as more ships are released. At Austerlitz Murat's cavalrymen did not defeat those of Liechtenstein because they were better swordsmen or riders, they won because their ensemble with especially their infantry was impeccable, where that of the Austrians was absent. The same goes with ships in this game. Because of these different roles different ship types can't be compared to one another with regard to damage because the game features many more elements that can scarcely be measured while having the potential to win games. Examples are threat projection, area denial and reconnaissance. Aside from that damage is heavily influenced by situational circumstances and target availability, which is in my experience moreso the case for destroyers. I think the majority of ships work pretty well in this game. The main issue seems to be that many players have either no idea about teamplay or have come not to expect any from their fellow players. MM is sometimes just too weird

The MM seems legit to me. Divisions have the tendency to cause odd matchups, this one looks like it was influenced considerably by the fact all the cruisers on the red team were divisioned, two of them with their carrier. Cheers, M
  14. It certainly would be very welcome at T8 to increase the longevity of cruisers in an increasingly hostile environment. Cheers, M

You are lucky, I have had a Saipan on my team who took 5 minutes finding out how to make planes take off. Seems like he never figured out how to use them after he managed... Cheers, M

    0.5.5 News (Supertest)

She is not and I doubt she will be. They might bump her to T6 like they bumped the Blyskawica a tier, maybe giving the AA capability and extra bump in the process. Cheers, M

    Molotov spotted ingame

So it is basically a Kirov with rail guns and 6 shots pm? Sounds decent enough. Curious if the range and hp pool will be any different. Cheers, M

    famous ships

Hmmm... None of those really. I am thinking of the SMS Goeben and the SMS Breslau, possibly including an option to play them with Ottoman colours instead of German ones. These two ships were ultimately responsible for dragging the Ottoman empire into WW1. Another interesting candidate might be the HMAS Australia, the battlecruiser commissioned by the Australian navy in 1913 and the only battlecruiser not operated directly by a great naval power or, if folks would be more interested in that, the heavy County-class cruiser commissioned in 1928 with the same name. Many people have dropped the name of the SMS Tegetthoff, the lead ship of the only Austro-Hungarian dreadnought battleship class ever built, which I would be interested in as well. Cheers, M
  19. QFT Sometimes you have the most useless sods at the helms of the cruisers on your team, as in 100% waste of oxygen. They don't follow when you lead, they don't push on their own. They just sit there in their own poop being useless while the enemy team has all the caps. Makes me want to @OP: Maneouvre, stay at range and take demolitions expert = having a good time. CHeers, M

  22. Met Spellfire40 in the Blyskawica today while sailing the Budyonny. Uneven fight though, his team got surprised by a very aggressive push and was on the back foot. It was glorious. CHeers, M

    What's your favorite BB?

Kongo beyond a doubt. Cheers, M
  24. I think it will be! Cheers, M
  25. I think historical flags should be included. As mentioned by other people, an option to activate the historical flag or the current one would be excellent. Not including them at all is simply censorship. Censorship = Intellectual cancer Cheers, M
