A bit more of news digest from getfun: Source: 1. Currently player surveys about the MM appear at the end of the battle. If you leave the battle before it ends, you will not get a survey. This will be changed in the future, so that more players can partake. The developers say that the data collected in surveys are analyzed by a competent team. 2. The developers concede shortcomings in the balancing of divisions that pertain to the distribution of divisions between the teams. 3. One developer said that a new matchmaking engine is under development. No details. [edited]

I agree and therefore I wrote my previous message. What he says is a mixture of official news, which I usually ignore, actual rumors and conjectures based on developers answers. I still believe that this information is useful, or at least entertaining, and I would stop posting it otherwise.

I translate the video digest of news and rumors taken from developers posts on the RU forum. Some of it is accurate, some of it are ideas expressed as answers to follow-up questions by the Russian forumites to the official Q&A that may get changed upon release, or abandoned. Some of it are thoughts aloud by developers. Example of recent correct information: Reticle contest was announced as rumored. Example of recent news that turned to be inaccurate: USS Indianapolis tier higher than 8. So it can go both ways. Take everything with a pinch of salt, please. Finally note that, unlike me, Carnotzet is doing the real job of painstakingly translating the original Q&A, the primary source. My postings are a translation of a digest by a regular video blogger.

This information is taken from the recent news digest by getfun Source: I skip some information pertaining to the 0.5.6 patch notes, as this information was provided on the EU server. I apologize if some of the information provided below is known. 1. The Russian tier 5 premium cruiser, the better Svetlana, will be called Krasnyi Krym (Red Krimea), not Profintern. The developers initially expected negative reaction on the more historical but perhaps also more controversial name in light of the recent political developments, but instead were met with strong pressure by the RU player base to choose the historical name. 2. An alternative hull for the cruiser Hipper featuring the Atlantic bow is forthcoming in 0.5.6. 3. The Königsberg gets a plane. 4. The Iowa (33 knots) and Montana (30 knots) top speeds will change. 5. The Aoba gets 1,500 additional hit points. 6. Torpedo soup. The developers observe a 5 percent reduction in the ship torpedo damage to tier X battleships. Further measures for nerfing torpedo soups will be taken. But these additional measures will be less drastic than those in 0.5.5. Following the negative reception of the patch 0.5.3, the developers are reluctant to introduce significant changes.

On the Molotov, I believe we that it will get absolute paper armor and weak AA. Tier 9 guns? Guns which will only citadel cruisers in the broadside projection on a ships that will melt under focus. Expect overpenetrations using the AP, while the HE is nothing special. In sum, I expect nothing of a Soviet premium cruiser based on the Kirov and believe that of the two new premium ships the Texas would be a much better buy. I played the Texas yesterday evening and it is good. A mid-tier BB can carry, and what is not to like about a high-powered AA battleship. Note that the supertester's version of the Molotov had the radar, which will be removed in the final version.

According to the most recent patch notes, bots in 0.5.5 have been overbuffed (too accurate) and will be nerfed in 0.5.6. Your observation is correct. The bots are overpowered.

However, the costal details in the game are utterly out of scale. Too small compared to the ship models. Check out the lower picture in my posting on the first (bad) pictures taken from a youtube video of a studio visit: http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/31444-some-interesting-info-from-ru/page__st__2680__p__991390#entry991390

RU sentiment on Molotov: If you like the Kirov, buy it, if you don't, pass. Appears to be absolutely unsuitable for the average or less than the average player.
-
FYI: Molotov on sale in RU since yesterday.

I agree, but only with the first two sentences. Get yourself a useless yet memorable ship, does not matter which of the four but I am most intrigued by the Katori.

BB captains basically decide the matches now

Correction: Proficient BB captains basically decide the matches now when adequately supported -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

We met Takru in Amagi yesterday and my Błyskawica died in the first 5 min of the battle - there is nothing new under the sun... -
What is determining a “good player?” (he/she)
Babykim replied to Ferry_25's topic in General Discussion
I agree, although to me this is more a description of a good team rather than good player (especially the point on cruisers). The whole issue of this game is the lack of co-ordination and, consequently, how to be a good played in a no-teamplay environment. You can division and teamplay as a group of three, and many good players do this all the time. Yet there is a difference between being good in a team and being good without a team (there is no i in a team, you know). -

@OP From the point of view of an average player like myself, a good player seriously tries to improve his gameplay based on their own experience and internet guides. The most important being situational awareness and accuracy. You cannot become a good player unless you can shoot accurately. The exception is a pure carrier player. Even IJN destroyers need the accuracy skill. Everything else like average experience and damage will come. Not the win rate. For a high win rate, say above 55 percent, you need to division with good players. There is no other way to impove it. One thing I dislike about third-party skill metrics such as the one at wow-numbers (or the wn8 in tanks), is that they are invariably biased towards dealing damage. The best metric to me simply is the average experience. This makes into account a number of relevant things like capping and de-capping, and is thus more balanced. -
The worst ship is the Tirpitz because she most frequently falls into the hands of the worst players in this game.
-
Why, in your opinion, the Americans are more willing to teamplay? Are they fewer and more dedicated? Or that fact that more than half of the EU players do not speak english, the lingua franca of gaming?
-
Some Russian video bloggers actually praise the EU and NA player base over the RU. They say that: 1. Boting and cheating is more common on RU, given that many tools are developed there, 2. Many more purely "its a game" casuals on RU, with no time or brains to learn anything. People rushing to suicide. 3. Less cooperation. At least on EU and NA people sometimes try to organize a game by asking "what is the plan", or "which cap points"? Whether it works is another thing. There will always be retarded idiosyncrates, who know beter. But I don't know how much of this is borne out of frustration and "grass is greener" type of sentiment. I see enough of all above problems here too.

Are you sure that co-op does not count? -
I care a lot about Karma, anytime I get +1 I need to bring it down back to 0 to show my appreciation of the playerbases' average intelligence.

I know there is alot of talk about MM making bad mixes but there is a reason.
Babykim replied to Flaming_Bunny's topic in General Discussion
This is exactly where your view differs from that of WG. The developers believe and have said that waiting to get into battle is what kills online games like nothing else. I cannot prove or disprove, I just hope they have good empirical evidence that goes beyond own games. -
They sold us a crapload of underwhelming ships already (Mikasa, Yubari, Tachibana). This cannot be it.

Why is the poster a fake? That is, how do you know it is?
