Playing poorly is acceptable, misbehave in chat is not.
Babykim replied to Xinyue's topic in General Discussion
Exactly, playing badly imposes a negative externality on all those who want to win the game (it drags them down), and winning is the primary objective of this pastime. -

You got it wrong way arround: Misbehave in chat is acceptable, playing poorly is not. -
And I just bought the Bayern...

Mandy, only scrubs play tiers 9 and 10 nowadays

But DDs get a buff too, namely the fast rudder shift (Steering Gear Mod 3) will be available to high tier destroyers as well as the cruisers, making hitting them significantly more difficult. This will destroy one last bit of realism in this arcade, which is reasonable inertia of the hull in water. Sadly.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Babykim replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
I recon this is new information, at least partially new since some things about the RN cruisers have not changed. He explicitly talks about RN 2.0 (reloaded) and says that as of today they still may have balancing issues, hence the possibility of delay. One thing in general, it is a rumour-mill, so take it -

A shell does full damage on a citadel. Any other hit does a fraction of full damage. This fraction will be 3 times higher for the RN cruisers than other ships (or the penalty lower). -
News digest by getfun: Source: The new RN cruisers: All cruisers, expect tier 5, have AP only. (nerf) Their alpha damage is lowered initially 3200, to 1400 till tier 4 1500 on tiers 5 to 8 1600 on tier 9 to 10. (buff) When a RN cruiser AP shell hits anywhere except the citadel, its damage will be 1/2, instead of the usual 1/6. (nerf) There will be no smoke consumable. (buff) The will be an improved Engine Boost, that increases the speed by 15 percent, instead of the usual 8 percent. The improved boost takes the fighter slot. This allows simultaneously taking Damage Control Party, Hydroacoustic Search and the (improved) Engine Boost consumables. There is still no Defensive AA Fire consumable. Most other parameters, such as turret rotation speed, rate of fire and the AA auras remain the same. The premium HMS Belfast will remain an HE spammer, with AP as an option, and will retain the Radar. (nerf) All ships up to tier 7 will lose the Radar. (buff) All ships of tiers 8 and 10 will get the improved Repair Party, which restores 2912 hitpoints per second. This healing speed is thus quicker than of other tier 9 and 10 ships. The improved Repair Party is more effective in terms of the percentage of lost hit points that can be restored per second. Normally the Repair Party restores 0.5 percent (HMS Warspite 0.6 percent) of maximum hit points per second. On the RM cruisers this parameter will be buffed to 8 percent per second. However, despite all the above buffs, the rumor is that the RN cruisers are still not very competitive, and perhaps therefore are far from release. The new Rank Battle Season: The season will commence shortly after the release of 0.5.12. It will be on tiers 6 to 8, 23 ranks and more irrevocable ranks. Some maps will be removed, while other added.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Babykim replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the info. This is a general nerf that will not spare premium DDs. On the contrary, the battleships bow nerf will not apply to the Tirpitz. -
I just had a game in which a pink player started torping allies, killed himself because of reflected damage, and then managed to kill an ally while already being dead. Is this a known issue that team damage goes through if it cannot be reflected back on the offender? I want to ask whether this is a known bug (if anything), not have another thread on the issue of teamkillers and their punishments in general.

Apparently, the nerf applies to the armor, which may not be a decisive issue for destroyers. To me, the most important part of this statement is the possibility of bending "no nerf of prems" rules, and the possibility of a compensation for non-systemic (i.e. purely ship-specific) nerfs. -
On the nerf of premium ships. Background: This discussion pertains to the upcoming nerf of the Błyskawica and the Anshan, the details of which I am not familiar with (Chinese leak?). Apparently, the upcoming nerf will not be specific to the above two premium ships, but a systemic nerf that applies to all destroyers. EDIT: The nerf applies to the armor, which may not be a decisive issue for destroyers. Comment by JamesWhite: Source: http://forum.worldofwarships.ru/index.php?/topic/66052-%d0%bf%d1%80%d0%be%d1%81%d1%8c%d0%b1%d0%b0-%d0%be%d1%84%d0%b8%d1%86%d0%b8%d0%b0%d0%bb%d1%8c%d0%bd%d0%be-%d0%bf%d0%be%d1%8f%d1%81%d0%bd%d0%b8%d1%82%d1%8c-%d0%be%d0%b1%d0%bd%d0%be%d0%b2%d0%bb%d0%b5%d0%bd%d0%bd%d1%83%d1%8e-%d0%bf%d0%be%d0%bb%d0%b8%d1%82/page__st__220__p__2699276#entry2699276 1. We do not plan nerfing premium ships, whether in ports or in online shops. All assumptions to the contrary are incorrect. 2. There still exists a probability that sometime in the future the circumstances will compel us to do something like that. In such cases we will compensate all owners with doubloons. However, I would specifically like to emphasize the role of systemic nerfs, which apply to all ships of a given type or several types. For example, such systemic changes may pertain to the maps, shell penetration or spotting mechanics. The points 1 and 2 do not apply to such systemic changes.

The "Birthday Achievements": here is a list of how to unlock each achievement, and the rewards..

I would love to have an official statement on this. -
On the question: "So what are the people testing then?", WellDone responded: "All other changes indicated in the patch notes. Anyway, changes to the economy cannot be tested using a public test". The last comment probably means that only full population statistic will show how changes affect profitability.
-
A potentially interesting point by WellDone: Source: http://forum.worldofwarships.ru/index.php?/topic/66149-новая-экономика/#topmost This iteration of public test contains no changes to the economy. Please stop panicking till you have a reason to. I appologize for not informing the players about the absence of changes regarding the economy. We do not plan to nerf profitability. If anything, we plan imroving it slightly in the future (will be noted in patch notes). The average profitability will roughly stay the game. You get more if you fought up close, spotted and took damage, and less for camping.

Here is a brief summary of a comment on the battleships bow armor nerf by developer ArdRaeiss: Source: http://forum.worldofwarships.ru/index.php?/topic/66132-%d0%bb%d0%b8%d0%bd%d0%ba%d0%be%d1%80%d1%8b-%d0%b2-0512/page__st__20#topmost For most part, the battleships have armor in the belt, casemates and cross-sectional bulkheads. The bow is typically unarmed, covered by plating (metal skin) only. We do not nerf the actual armor. You will still be able to tank with whatever part of the armor belt extends to the bow, more so by angling the ship. What we changed is how the shells bounce off the plating. We do not want heavy AP shells to easily bounce off the unarmored plating at very acute angles. This is how is it already implemented for the medium tier battleships.

Please read carefully the text you quoted "a penalty in the form of no reward after the battle ended", which in simple English means "no reward". Why should you get a reward, however small, for doing nothing? The new "penalty" is the removal of all rewards. I approve.

Same here! WG, can you please sort out this mess?

Premium Shop Weekly: USS Marblehead (in a bundle)... Still no sight of König Albert. Why?

The Russians are getting the Koenig via an R event to be announced soon. -
The overall logic behind granting Credits and XP per battle was reworked to include the above changes. Consequently, if a player carries out useful actions (causing damage, fighting for control of key areas, supporting allies etc.), their average rewards will not change compared to Update 0.5.11. However, players whose behaviour is mostly "one-dimensional" (for example, battleship players that stay away from the heat of battle and try to only cause damage to the enemy, rather than lead the attack; or destroyer players that focus on capturing key areas but do not perform any reconnaissance) will be less generously rewarded. I am getting this right? Together this means less rewards for pure damage, because you cannot add new criteria for rewards, while keeping the total rewards constant. So a good player will get the same average rewards, a smaller share of which would be due to damage. A bad player will come worse off simply because whatever small damage he does is awarded less than before. Do you like it? I am not sure I do. Sounds like a hidden profitability nerf, somethings that I expected since long. P.S.: expected because the WoW grind is rather quick, while new content is slow in comming.
