I'm a bit confused. How do you know there is a ship behind an island then, if he isn't detected, even though you say he was detected by planes (but you still can't see him). Yes, that rule applies only when you shoot, also when your ship is on fire it also gives you an additional "detection penalty", but again, I'm not sure how much ~1.5-2km I suppose. Yes, if you are in smoke then you can shoot and not be detected (2km+). I assume that Benson was spotted exactly at 2km away, but he was probably moving towards you and you towards him so the distance between you was dropping heavily?

Those kinda stuff happen a lot to inexperienced people (like you, and I don't mean anything bad by it) when you jump from tier 1-2 to tier 8 premium, where both guns and ships get bigger stronger and come in more numbers. Battleships are counter for cruisers and you can always expect stuff like that to happen to you if you show your broadside or come too close to battleships (at open sea). I saw that most of newbies who buy Atago rely on torps A LOT, while that should be the last thing you think about using (unless there is a clear opportunity to use them) and get destroyed just because of that way of thinking. My best salvo was a devastating strike on Amagi with my NC (not sure how much dmg I did tho, around 50k if I remember correctly) while just today I've managed to get 30-40k salvos 2-3 times (40k on an Iowa happily showing his broadside to my Iowa)

If a ship behind an island is shooting at you, it is because you are detected by someone else and its pure logic that you cannot see him if he is behind an obstacle.. After you fire, you get a "detection penalty" which varies from ship to ship and it lasts for 10-15 sec if I'm not mistaken. All ships are autodetected at 2km distance, whether they are in smoke or behind an obstacle, they are going to be detected.

At the moment I have 11 (with 6 more empty slots) because mainly I don't stick around with ships, although I'd love if I had kept the likes of NC, Colorado, NM, NY (basically the whole US BB line ) Nagato, Fuso, Myoko, Aoba as I really enjoyed playing with those ships, but I had to sell them in order to get the higher tier ones (yes I'm too lazy to grind credits all the time). The only one I've rebought is Minekaze to grind credits (when I'm in mood) as I kinda got bored with Murmansk and I don't really like Gremy that much, for some reason

It's not too overpriced tho. The only time it was being sold on EU it was 60€ Also this might mean it will be on sale on our server SOON, but who knows. Last info I got was that it will be on sale around Christmas. And I recommending you getting to AT LEAST T7 battleship as the gameplay over there is much different and there is much more experienced players which might result in you being bashed quite often.

Nah, players skill cannot be determined by most of his stats yet (and there is no other way MM can determine it) + there is just no need for it as then you probably wouldn't be able to play with mates that just joined the game, or play a division with a mate who is a bit better or bit worse player -
It's not just you. Lots of people share the same opinion. I haven't noticed much difference in the "fun factor" going to the upper tiers, but things kinda get more serious, as you meet ships that can deal more potential damage, which makes you play more carefully or otherwise you lose credits. Low-mid tiers also seem to be more dynamic as well, throughout the whole battle. I guess it's because of the faster reload time on almost everything (except BBs) and people just tend to be more relaxed there...

I don't like reading science fiction and fairy tales mate

Well, I'm no big fan of any navy, but I myself would like to see the likes of Richelieu, Rodney, KGV and some other ships, but it's not like I think of them every time I play. I think the pace the new ships are arriving is fine because adding all the stuff at once would just make some people (like me) lose interest fast, as knowing its all we'd ever get would just make me think its not sufficient. This way you keep your players "on their toes" PATIENTLY awaiting for the new ships to arrive, and yeah, some had to be released before for economic reasons, although that doesn't make them more "valuable" and important.

It gets much better with the hull upgrade! Try to show only your "nose", those 6 guns should be enough to deal nice amounts of damage. It has a weak broadside tho, so try not to expose it too much! As for the shells, I don't remember having anything bad to say about them, they seemed quite similar like on the Colorado, but maybe they also get better with the second hull (I didn't play with stock hull for a long time so I cannot really compare).

Some interesting info around the world
IamTroublemaker replied to Takeda92's topic in General Discussion
Yup, I think we are going to need a new topic. I'm too lazy to search for the info so much , and Takeda kindly posted it for us in this topic -
I can understand all the critics up to some point, but was this really necessary? That kind of hypocrisy?

Last time I read, German BBs and Russian CAs are planned for Q1 2016. I cannot wait for them as well, plus I'm slowly running out of BBs to play with. Patience is a virtue

You will probably see that much more often on lower tiers as people are still learning the game. Sadly most of them don't even know torpedoes can kill an ally and that they have a certain range. On mid-high tiers you will encounter those rarely, and even if you do get hit, they probably didn't mean it.

Patch Alert: Game Update 0.5.1.2
IamTroublemaker replied to IamTroublemaker's topic in General Discussion
I could never pay that amount for a T4 premium ship. That would be almost double from the price of T4 premium tanks in WoT and close to the price of T6 premium tanks there. I guess I'm still used to the WoT prices... -
You get both, the percentage shows how much you get and it equals that second number (+1.5km)

Couldn't agree more. This way it really feels like they just want to milk the cash, instead of offering us some choice -
Patch Alert: Game Update 0.5.1.2

I'd say 900-1000 doubloons? I hope you were sarcastic. Tirpitz is the first thing that came to my mind -
WoT does it a lot better? Are you crazy sir? I came back to WoT a few days ago, and you know what was the longest lasting battle? 6 minutes!!!! 3 of them ended in 4 minutes! While my fastest battle in WoWs was 5 minutes, and it happened only once.
-
I've noticed the same, but only when I look somewhere else after firing with my BBs. At first I thought I was crazy, but there is no way I missed slow moving or stationary BBs from 5-10 km, without getting even 1 hit
-
Maybe you didn't finish the mission on time? They expired today at 6 am (UTC+1)

Why Steel Ocean is my new game...after 5 minutes playing!
IamTroublemaker replied to Adamo1's topic in Off-Topic
OP I dare you to play some real submarine games and you will see how the gameplay there is "fun". Submarines are not needed in this game, and even if they add them, they would have to change the gameplay and basically the whole game a lot + I bet 90% of the people would find submarine gameplay boring EDIT: You got 1 T6 and you say no features? You've played with like 10% of the total ships in game. Enough said...
