Some TIX-VIII ships proposal (for fun)
Karasu_Browarszky replied to TheKaramelka's topic in General Discussion
There's the 'sister ship' concept that would allow for fairly consistent variations in terms of ship design class. In the case of the Vanguard, that would mean fictional variations, but I think Vanguard is (or at least was) a fairly good but not a very inspiring ship in terms of gameplay, so those variations might be worth looking into. -

What about tier 1 then? Each nation only has exactly one ship for the whole tier? Has anyone ever counted how many ships we currently have per tier/nation in the game? From a gameplay perspective, the number of ships should, IMO, be roughly equal all over, and also some of the nations remain fundamentally neglected. -
Karma is nothing. Well, mine usually is anyway...

Game crashed, then I get back on and get two kills. Still penalised....
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Miscommunication_dept's topic in General Discussion
Now... that is interesting. Apart from a DC or a real life situation, what other possible reasons are there for being afk? Personally, for me... well there's the alt tabbing during deployment which I sometimes do, mostly with the slower ships on the lower tiers, not really on the high tiers because that can be... deadly. A bigger cause for me being afk is the long queue times, I don't facy staring at a clock for minutes waiting for the queue to pop, so I alt tab to the forum or somewhere else. May even be physically afk for a minute or two while waiting. -

Gesundheit. Yeah, in the old days things were better in this regard too. Whether you came back after a DC and if your ship was still afloat you could resume the battle, have an impact on the battle and reap the possible rewards. Now I guess WG wants to just quit if anything unexpected occurs, whether something technical or something in real life. It's like they are telling you to find something better to do.... -

Wut?

I pick up TYL's. I get some other type of containers from occasional mission. Or, rather, I did when I was still playing on a daily basis.

Invite Bobby Kotick as a consultant with wide powers!

Ah... so that's how they do it. They enter the desired result at the end and the spreadsheets is automatically filled in with the correct data that matches the desired output. Clever! -
Balanced does not say if it's well balanced or poorly balanced. Just a thought....

No more side panels in operations?
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Kruzenstern's topic in General Discussion
That I don't know, because I've been using modded panels for years. IIRC, originally this game had WoT style side panels in vanilla, when we were still in open beta. Can't be 100% sure, but I don't think I was using any mods back then. -

Some mods weren't initially yet updated. At least one of the side panel mods was greyed out. Some mods may still not be available, I haven't checked for a couple of days, but at least yet I've not got the ship info displayes back. You need to keep checking pretty much on a daily basis for the missing mods. -
What to do with beginners and bad players
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Grolaris's topic in General Discussion
Typically, new players start at the lower tiers where they will play against more seasoned veterans who provide the newcomers with splendid learning opportunities. Alternatively, those who are do not care for the natural learning process and are impatient will look for a shortcut which is provided to them by WG in a number of alternate forms, not just limited to premium ships only, but to other content that they can purchase which also provides them the same premium level fast track experience right to the higher tiers of the game. We could think of this as something of a community effort, players and WG working together to make the experience all the more fun and engaging -- for everyone! -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
@Northern_Nightowl spotted in battle, on the same team. I got sunk, he got sunk, and the battle generally er... everything went according to the plan. -
Pommern is popular?

Global changes are possible, and they can indirectly have a heavy impact on how you play a ship. A bit sneaky if you ask me....

Saturation with Alerts in Port.

I don't even bother any more. -
Thunderer is listed as a premium ship, but it was a coal ship I don't if it was ever sold for cash/doubloons. That would make it not possible to rebalance it. It also wouldn't help if they released a new version, because then it wouldn't the be the same OP version which probably is why some people would like to have it. A side effect of the most unfortunate kind. Could WG do something to address that problem?

I've noticed I tend to prefer the cruisers that more or less fit under the 'heavy cruiser' classification. High tier ships that come to mind are Alaska and Kronshtadt. The midtiers favorite of mine is Myoko. Some cruisers seem more competent, I just haven't figured out a quick and dirty way of finding out. Could be I need to start looking at armor thickness, and gun range, the maneuvering wouldn't help me much because usually the first strike is deadly enough to erase my ship. I just wish I knew where the 'cut-off point' is in terms of those stats. What kind of thickness is where armor starts to work, and what kind of range is the minimum the ship would need to have. Of course, that would also be tier dependent which complicates things when you are either uptiered or downtiered in battle. Well, yes. I mostly read the reviews on premium ships, or used to, as I don't actually plan on getting any more at this stage. I've tried to see if the ship has the characteristics I'm looking for, but it's not necessarily a perfect match for the type of gameplay I prefer. The review might, in other words, indicate that the ship is fairly good and balanced, just not in my competent hands... in a manner of speaking. The reviews have helped me steer clear from ships that would be too difficult to begin with which is where they've been very useful. That 15 to 16 km range, at least on the hight tiers, is what I've usually considered a fairly optimal range to engage, not necessarily the maximum range of the ship which might be longer. I have a tendency to favor those longer ranges, and flatter arcs naturally... so maybe that's something I should be looking for. @Seraphice Thank you for the list! -

Still a little complex for me, though. I don't think they list any classification that would directly point out 'open water worthiness'. Probably could be figured out by looking at the stats and basing a conclusion on them, possibly, but that requires expert level knowledge of how the game mechanics actually work deep down in this game which is something I don't have, just the superficial cause and effect relationship I detect in the battles. -

Could WG please introduce a filter setting for cruisers and other ships that actually are 'open water worthy' so less skilled players such as myself would not have to spend agonizing hours of poor quality gameplay trying to figure out which ships can actually do what they are supposed to do? -
It can be a delay. This has sometimes happened to me when the results have not updated fast enough following the battle. Bloody awkward too when that happens.

WG against the President of Ukraine?

Seems like double standards. Or maybe these Putins and Clintons are just such obscure people that nobody's ever heard of them. -

He has a point. Actually, he seems to have three points and a comma (bonus ). OP, the ships in this game are crap. Cruisers especially. Your cruiser is intended to be hidden behind an island. Preferably two. You are not supposed to have fun by playing a ship that engages the enemy as part of your team maneuvers. You are supposed to play what is a very boring 3rd person shoot em up where you peak around corners and squirt at the enemy players.
