They are supposed to be battleships... Okay, if you angle your BB... where do you go from there? You can't show broadside or you are dead unless you have the range to fire from behind your detection radius. You can either start bow tanking or hit reverse. -

I see.. I agree that stationary = stupid but how is bow tanking going to give us dynamic BB play? -

Does this mean they are now trying to encourage people bow tank even more? Why can't they just give us proper sizes maps so that we'd have actual room for tactical maneuvers? -

Well, from my point of while the BB's are understandably overly popular compared to the other classes nerfing them is the wrong solution. I can only speak from how I experience the game, but what IMO needs to be done is make the BB game much less campy and more aggressive and also make the cruisers more competitive so they can do better what you'd expect cruisers to do. DD's in general I think are fine and the most balanced class out there. -

True.. the teams have become very BB heavy lately. As I can't really manage cruisers or carriers, I've been somewhat guilty of being party to that myself. -

Surely the more proper technical term would be 'incoming'... But seriously speaking, I don't like this kind of changes. The way they have configured the BB's and their armor layout in the game already makes them massively pre-nerfed in my opinion. If they start making BB's more vulnerable to incoming AP salvos and still keep them vulnerable to HE spamming as well, BB's will become entirely obsolete. While I advocate a tad more realistic approach in naval warfare games, I don't think they would need to copy the reality of WW2 and post war developments this faithfully and selectively.... For the record, I mostly prefer to play DD's on higher tiers. This type of changes would make the high tier BB's completely redundant for me. -
May I suggest automatic 5 gear reverse transmission?

Freedom fries?

I don't actually mind BB's reversing at all.. they become much easier targets.

Is a bit of Mikasa love possible?

What we seem to be dealing with is again historical 'balance' vs. in game 'balance' issues. When we look at say the battle of Tsushima (always fun to remind our Russian friends of this) we can reasonably well say that she represented the uhum... 'cream of the world's shipbuilding' at the time and in game balance terms this would meaning facing no higher than same tier ships. By WW1, though upgraded, she would have been obsolescent (yes, a real word) which again in game balance terms would meaning facing no more than one tier higher. -
Oh.. très chic! I've noticed that the French ships also have a clock tower.
-
You don't have to trust the force your feelings, just look at the splashes around your target which is where you will see them if and as long as your aim was correct. If your aim was correct and your guns have a bad dispersion, you will in that case depend on the RNG to actually hit anything.

This shows how limited the current tier based tech tree structure is. We would need to have something that is in between tiers and the whole tech tree in scope. Possibly some kind of an 'era' based subdivision of the tech tree giving us maybe three 'eras': Pre-dreadnought, Dreadnought and Super-Dreadnought. I would also like to see full 'functionality' for all three 'eras' meaning missions and operations too, I don't like how the overwhelming majority of our ships are now relegated to the role of stepping stones/punch bags for the higher tiers. -
I don't think that is what OP means by 'seeing'. For the record, I am both a BB and a DD player (not good at either) so I can see both sides of the issue well (no pun intended...). And I agree, the smoke and the mostly the whole spotting/targeting mechanics the game has is problematic, not just the smoke part of the equation.

They do have terrible accuracy. It's like having a shotgun instead of naval guns.
-
Well, even in that case we would have lost cause the way they went gave our team no advantage. It allowed the enemy to secure 2/4 caps and go for the 3rd. Also, they were as far from the enemy as you could get for no reason and unable to fire at them (because of those bloody islands somebody loves to thrown on every map but one).
-
No, you are right that the BB guns do not suck. The problem is in that relative situation, unlike you would imagine (and should be the case IMHO), relative to the BB the DD in smoke and/or beyond the range of your secondaries will have an unnatural advantage in terms of firepower. I can understand torpedoes giving the DD that advantage, but not the guns. Last time this happened to me I think it was either Gearing or Daring in smoke. There was no way really to run away because the DD could just keep spamming HE at me from the cover of smoke. I was in the wrong place in the sense that too many of my team had gone the wrong way both tactically and strategically. I was IMO in the correct tactical position but alone trying to stop the enemy team from winning the game. It didn't work, of course....
-
Ever been in a BB a few kliks away from a tier X DD fully covered in smoke raining HE on you? If you don't have a radar to use, and your team is not doing anything useful either, you are screwed. Even if your secondaries could fire, you can't target the DD, and I seriously suspect BB main gun DPM would lose against that DD. If you do have a solution to the problem, I'd be curious to hear it.
-
Why would you be at a standstill in a BB in the middle of a battle? They are easy enough targets even without that. I prolly think it's more likely useful for smoke warriors such as DD's and some cruisers. The smart players will make use of it and get out of time. The less smart ones don't need it because they stay there long enough for your torpedoes to hit them.
-
None are. Because of the unrealistic game mechanics that give cruiser and even DD guns absolute fire power advantage over BBs. Even with the case of the secondary build BB's this is a problem because several high tier DD's can accurately fire at them from beyond the range of their secondaries.
-
It's like 'eunified'... I'm not happy with their radar as it is.
-
The basic problem with spotting is how unrealistically the game handles spotting and detection. Because of this, I'm not sure if they will ever be able to come up with a good solution.
