Not sure why you think it is nonsense. What I said was that most people are not good enough to win battles without playing as part of the team. What I didn't mean is that you can just go afk and wait for someone else do the work for you. IMO when it comes to OP, he needs to realize that he might do all the right things in battle and it might still be a defeat. Moreover, even a good team can still lose if they face another good team. Luck is a factor, of course (or RNG...), especially when the teams are well balanced.

Thank heavens my stats are hidden. Seriously though, IMO if you play a DD, early on your biggest threats are enemy DD's unless you get unlucky with planes spotting you. Then it's the radar ships (some of which are DD's too...). Whether you are in a gunboat or a torpedo boat, stealth is your primary asset (especially given dodgy spotting mechanics in WoWS...) Later in the battle, any DD's that manage to survive they will become game changers (or have the potential to do so). As previously stated, in early parts of the engagement as a DD your priority is to survive, and secondary priority is to help your team to sink enemy DD's (they aren't always too keen on that, go figure). Then remove the radar threat. Some also emphasize capping, but keep in mind that there are games where the team has capped all three zones and still managed to lose due to poor battle performance. While not capping can lose you the battle, it is not conversely true that capping will win it. Your WR is not dependent on your performance, it is wholly dependent on how well your team, which you are part of, will manage to meet their objectives.

It always helps if you know your ship well. Know what you can do and what you can't and in what kind of situations. Gauge the enemy actions with this in mind. And pay attention to the minimap, easy to forget when focusing on something else, but ignoring it will often cost you the battle. Sometimes even for your team.

I think you are spot on. Two good players makes a huge difference. You don't always see it as clearly in WoWS as you do it in WoT, but it is a factor that can cause even good players lose when they get one bad team after another. I don't honestly think I'm the worst spud out there, but I know that is extremely unlikely I could carry my team to victory. It happens, but only if I got a good DD and the enemy threats have been removed earlier in battle.

Premium Shop in August: Ships for Ranked Battles

Like.. how? Not that I'm opposed to the idea but how do we actually manage to remind them that gaming is a two way relationship? -
Game is different. Quicker. Not Realistic.

FPS could be a factor. Low FPS certainly sometimes makes my game seem like sailing in molasses. However, unless everyone has the same problem enemy ships would actually seem to get faster in relative speed compared to yours. -

Sometimes I prefer to scout and keep an eye on caps. It is often easier to let them cap and then go and take that cap after that. Also, I usually prefer to play torpedo build DD's so I am not that well equipped for knife fighting. 95% of the time that ends badly for me. The actual problem is that most teams expect the DD's to push aggressively for caps. So.. they turn the minimap into a bingo board and start pinging for me to go and 'Cap DD'.... I don't actually knowingly play that aggressively, I usually try to stay outside of my own detection range if possible. Sure, I get surprised and focused by CV's often. Also, some radar ships find it amusing to sneak behind an island near the cap and flash radar right at the right time. -

I often become kamikaze inadvertently. This happens when I approach a cap where there is one (sometimes two, but I don't that.. till later...) DD. All's fine, it seems there are no radar or anything close by so I push in to see who spots who(m <-- for ye purists lot) first. However.... suddenly it's a whole new ballgame because when one of them (usually the closest DD) spots me, there are suddenly several ships, big huge ships, cruisers and BB's decloaking or coming out of hyperspace putting me in their range.. Let's just say, it goes quickly south after that. -

That would make it much much quicker IMHO. -

The key difference you are experiencing is probably the fact that you been going upwards to higher tiers and the gameplay changes a lot as you do that. Some aspects of the gameplay mechanics are also accelerated like fires....The ships will be faster, guns will be faster everything will be faster and you will start to notice how undersized the maps are on higher tiers. It's like putting ships in a bathtub so the experience gets a little unrealistic. Also, while everything else speeds up, your reaction times remain the same. -

Nice.... I especially love this bit: Considering my teeth been getting a bit long waiting for new campaigns... wouldn't wanna have to wait 21 years for those as by that time my beard is gonna be long and gray too.... -
So... what about higher tier cruisers then?...

Wilco! I'm a little short of French captains, my best is like 12 pt.

I've mostly played G. in the coops, I don't feel confident enough to go into randoms. Just had a round in coop with a 2 point captain. As for the guns... well the biggest thing to get used to is you have two turrets but essentially, I don't see a problem with angling as much as with the fact that if one of your turrets gets knocked out you lose half your main guns. At the sort of ranges there (short to medium) the guns seems very accurate with little dispersion. It might get worse with range. I'm having to compare G. to my stock Richelieu and between those two options, I think I would prefer Gascoigne.

It had never occurred to me to scroll down that page in the shop... I did know General Premium time was available at WoWP shop, though. Currently I play very little WoT, I try to manage a few battles daily not to completely lose my touch. Much more into WoWS, of course! EDIT: I had a look at what you can buy in the client. It seems doubloons can only be used to buy WoWS premium time. The button for 'WG Premium' takes you to the in client Premium Shop.

Sounds nice, but then again I'm not really seriously competitive enough. Casual Friday every day!

Even my friends don't wanna join... and I don't think I got enough to make 6...

Leave my very own clan...?
-
I can only be in one so... I'd need another account to be in another clan and that would kind of defeat the purpose.
-
Well.. with just me, maybe Harvey... and my dead cat too we'd still come a few paws short.

Some of us can't play clan battles...

It's not the paper ships as such, they don't ruin the suspension of disbelief if they are made to appear credible. For the suspension of disbelief to kick in the game would not have to be entirely realistic (right down to every little aspect), it would essentially have to be closer than what it is what people's perceptions of naval warfare are. Simulator games can get it wrong too, they can make the UI too complex and give you a lot of frustration at no extra cost. But so can this type of arcade game as well if the game play returns more frustration than satisfaction. To mention a couple of things: 1. I would expect the in game ships be balanced in such a way, that they would be optimized for what roles they would have or did play in real naval battles. 2. I would also expect radar and sonar to function a little more realistically. 3. The above would also mean there would have to be an overhaul of the spotting mechanics in general. I find it hard to believe that I'm the only one frustrated by blinking ships that you suddenly see and suddenly don't. I also suspect there is something fishy about the ship detection radius and ship type related spotting distances. The dodgy mechanics we got are entirely unnecessary because we already have range related dispersion in the game. Basically these two points are IMO entirely possible to implement even in an arcade game, especially what really makes WoWS more of an arcade game than a simulator is how the turrets and aiming are handled (with the mouse). I might prefer or more simulator based controls but I can live with what we got in the game.

the problem with reward premiums for NTC
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Kutfroat's topic in General Discussion
Time gated content? If there is a problem with these ships this would definitely make it far worse as it would permanently split the player base in two unequal halves.
