need some advise on whether I should keep grinding Japanese BBs
Karasu_Browarszky replied to TrangleC's topic in General Discussion
Yes, you should. -
The super containers ain't been super since the early weeks after they were launched. I've lately got maybe two of them, both times it was flags only. Guess flags are at least somewhat useful unlike those useless upgrades I used to get previously.

Security Improvements for Card Purchases
Karasu_Browarszky replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
^ This! This security improvement means extra hassle especially if you plan to buy more than item from the premium shop. Even if you have your card details saved, for every purchase you make you have to verify them separately. -
Me, prolly you and I bet a lot of people are of the opinion that 'arcade' means extreme simplification. WG (and some others) think 'arcade' means something entirely different. IMO WoWS isn't really an arcade game but a simulation of something that has no counterpart in real life. I can try to understand they do this for balance reasons but I also think it is ultimately a failing proposition because it is not anchored in reality (no pun intended).

I think you are framing the problem nicely. 'Value for possible victory' can also be expressed as a 'tactical advantage'. That is or should be the immediate goal which when summed up with the overall team actions can lead to victory, or if your team fails to achieve a tactical advantage or fails to capitalize on it, can result in defeat. The latter case is the infamous 'snatching defeat from the jaws of victory' case. Yup, not perfect. You get effectively penalized for trying to secure a tactical advantage for your team when you are doing something that reduces your DMP for whatever reason.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Sadly our friend @FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor is uhm.. shall we say, enjoying a sabbatical. Hope to see him around in battles myself, preferably on the same team. At least that would be my preference, not sure about his... -
So they will reverse the "gun bloom change"
Karasu_Browarszky replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
Obviously, as BB's have a much longer reload. There are people who advice BB's to only shoot when their targets show broadside. However, you could argue that for optimal DPM they should keep firing anyway as they are going to stay spotted so long after firing a salvo. With this change, however, there are alternatives such as repositioning that become easier and more worthwhile to do. So we will see.... -

I expect this to have an impact on cruisers as well. I mean.. not impact in that sense.. I mean play style wise. -
This issue cropped up in another thread, can't remember which one TBH. There's basically three types of actions you can take: 1. Actions that only or mostly benefit you. 2. Actions that benefit you and the team effort. 3. Actions that mostly or only benefit the team. (There is also inaction but that benefits only the enemy so that should not be rewarded...) The way I see it, only 1. and 2. are really rewarded currently, so the game reward system actively discourages the players from taking certain actions that would help their team to win. Instead there is a huge emphasis on sinking, damage farming and capping. Sadly, however, IMO the depth of the tactical component is largely connected with the 3rd type of action.

Suggestion Swedish ships - example minor nation
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Johan_Jung's topic in General Discussion
Didn't actually know that.. interesting. In that case they really passed off a lemon to the Swedes. When I was there, the ship was still in the wet, stinking all black condition, they were constantly sprinkling water and I guess some chemicals on it. Given the chance to do so, I tried to peek inside the interior... sounds awesome, but in reality you couldn't really see anything, just pitch black darkness. However, with a little bit of imagination you could see yourself gazing beyond centuries of time...- 168 replies

I play on DD's a lot these days. True, this will help DD's cause as it is, I get fired at for about 10 to 15 seconds even after the detection radius has returned to normal. -

Karasu_Browarszky replied to __Helmut_Kohl__'s topic in General Discussion
Hmm... Well, I had my hopes up that this would actually encourage more dynamic, open water battles... -
It would make the game a lot more enjoyable if they actually did reward the team members for team effort and pulling together, now it's just individual performance and input that matter.

Premium Shop – An Extra Month of Savings
Karasu_Browarszky replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
You need to be more understanding... However, a 3 Euro discount is prolly so minuscule that most people won't even notice it so most people won't even realize they need to be upset about this. -

Karasu_Browarszky replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
That's the kind of problem I was having last Saturday. Ship stops dead in water, chat won't work (always trying saying the F-word at this point), ping goes to -35 and then the game crashes. I had to relog 3 times during one battle on Crash Zone Alpha. However, the same thing happened yesterday, too. Except that this time I could not log back in because about 30 seconds later my Internet connection itself went on the blink. It came back about 10 mins later, logged back in and found myself in port. When the battle ended, WG 'gifted' me with the always so fashionable pink and a penalty for 3 battles for 'unsportsmanlike conduct'.... -

Karasu_Browarszky replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
4 years? That might equal a 4 percent discount, then. -
If we are talking about retail business, I guess the markup can vary a lot. On pricier items it might be something like 60 to 70 % of the cost meaning they can afford to give a sizeable discount and still break even. The biggest problem that is killing retail business is not necessary online shopping but VAT which effectively ties up a huge bundle in anything they stock. For digital goods like WoWS ships, they can probably calculate pretty accurately how much the design and testing process costs them, but how they actually spread the costs over the units they sell, no idea. They have some projected sales target or something. Stocking the ships they sell, won't cost them a penny, though.
