My suggestion is REMOVE ALL ISLANDS Problem solved.

I call this the Musashi Effect.

Yes, but some of us play more than one class, possible even all of them. So we have a rough idea how things work at either end of the stick. Could be that over time what goes around comes around, but in the meantime .... there's plenty of salty thoughts.

The difference, IMO though, is that usually a CV spots you right at the start so you get to enjoy one of those 'quick and effortless' battles. With the 'hidden' radar, you have probably invested a lot more time and effort into the battle as this usually happens later on in the game.

The exact situation in a BB I hate. There is a DD that could be spotted by advanced DD or radar. None available. Defeat.

An idea for balancing the new Soviet Heavy cruisers.
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Miscommunication_dept's topic in General Discussion
Everyone is aware of the many shortcomings of the Imperial Navy, it is easy to see that despite having excellent naval engineers and the necessary installations to build those ships (I grant you the Soviets lost most of that following 1918), they somehow managed to botch up so many things. The Soviets were just so much worse in every possible respect. The Soviets also 'lost' many talented engineers and inventors for 'various reasons', but they managed to retain some good ones too, like Admiral Kitkin and Admiral Berg. In my opinion, there was a huge difference between Russian trained and Soviet trained professionals though... By way of slight exaggerating, most of the Russian ships in the game were real ships. Real in the sense of having been designed and built, seeing service, or at least were laid down. Most of the Soviet ships seem to be more or less questionable paper designs. The worst aspect of this is as they were never really built, we have nothing against which to measure if they are balanced designs or hyped up in comparison to the real ships that other nations managed to get built. -
Like I pointed out earlier, I would also like to say that in addition to that it is also a map design/spotting related problem. Unless the dev's find 'Smile, you're on hidden radar' situations 'funny'.

That looks like one of our fellow forumites here...

So what is the core problem?

The difference between the Russians and the later Soviets is that the Russians could actually build their ships (or have them built overseas), whereas the Soviets were mostly able to draw up failed designs... and they probably wouldn't have even been able to build them even in the unlikely event had they managed to come up with something worth building. More vodka, anyone? -

I tried to google it a bit earlier. Some people reported problems with wireless or combination of wireless/wired peripherals. -
I can see how real life radar could be difficult to fit in with mouse based gun 'control'... *sigh* I keep missing the good old days when gun control in a game meant something like this:
-
The current implementation won't get much Radar love out of me.. so I wanted it nerfed and changed. The idea of making it a damageable module gets my vote. I also understand the problem this would cause if it were a consumable. So, why not make it a module not a consumable but heavily nerf it so it become, not unrealistically OP but somewhat useful. The problem here is that in reality they would have been used for gun control and in this game I guess the player is doing that bit 'unassisted'. Real radar did not paint an image of the target ship on the fire control officers binoculars. So there is no perfect solution, and such I'd go for something that is: a) balanced b) not immersion breaking. EDIT The current implementation though I don't like it is not that far from that. The biggest problems are as @Steel_duck_1 points out that there is at times a huge imbalance between the two teams in terms of how the radar gets used. Another point is, what makes the radar so gimmicky is how you can't effectively judge the threat because the radar equipped ships manage to 'hide' out of view. If, as in a DD, you could spot a potential radar threat you could take a calculated risk instead of blundering into a radar and gunfire burst. IMO also there is something wrong how long you stay detected even after your are supposed to have become 'concealed' again. Not just with radar but overall detection.

Good job! A similar input thing as some people have had with joysticks etc. Odd though, I think these bugs were originally in Moo2... have they somehow been carried over to WG version of MOO.... -

Haven't yet tried to play it myself. What I would have tried to guess is a mouse sensitivity issue. Can you set that in the in game settings? -

My Shima feels to perform much more poorly than before. The torpedo launchers are slower than the band of grannies at the super market check out. I also found a suspicious cigarette butt on the deck. Russian. -

The Muppets have a long and prestigious naval tradition going as far back as the Viking Age. -
Well, they would lose money if they were too liberal with discounts. They need so much money for the accelerated Soviet Naval Armament Programme.

Good job with the new campaign, WG

Don't buy Friesland unless you know what you are doing. The extreme high tier/national restrictions on some of the missions could be a problem with this campaign.... -

Have you managed to see how the missions under this compare against those we've had?
