It's more like a cluster of issues than any single thing, I picked HE because it is a constant problem, even more than the CV's but many see differently. The greedy money grabbing tactics get on my nerves, of course, but ultimately I think it is the lack of content, replayability and general lack of concern by the developers on making the game better both in term of technical aspects as well game design and mechanics that mostly are the single biggest issue I can think of.

This type of snobbery holds no appeal for me.

You're right, just having a statistical percentage shown somewhere deep in the depths of the UI is not that satisfactory.

I know we can set them as 'Primaries'.. but... there are just too many ships I like to set as 'Primaries'....

Mate, I'm not a tactical genius either. I have, however, smartly tried to hide my tactics! Less smartly though, they can be accessed from below my signature...

As for tactics in WoWS, it's so easy! Find a rock, a puff of smoke and HE spam like crazy. Profit!

Inflation? The campaign itself is no true campaign in my book. Too rigged to make you buy certain ships if you know what I mean. I'm thinking of giving it up, sucks out all the fun out of my gaming having to limit myself to too few ships that I can, since I lack the ships needed for the 'express' finish.

Yes, it seems Smolensk is a very versatile ship. Apart from the HE spamming problem, more of the cruisers should be more like it.

You know, I have both of those, and I had Conqueror earlier, bought it back recently. IMO there's been some kind of change that has made it much more difficult to use the Conq for HE spamming now as opposed to earlier. I even tried to use the Thunderer for HE spamming because of its theoretically high fire chance, but reverted to normal AP shelling instead.

I think we can agree then that the Smolensk is badly in need of a decent buff.

That DPM is the problem, not just with the Smolensk but in general with the HE spammers. Unlike some HE spammers, it also has better ballistics.

More or less valid points, but they'd be pretty moot points IMHO if the game mechanics weren't utter trash. In its current state the game is more or less jury rigged to keep running but at as soon as gets into rough seas... it will start to leak badly. You can carry on the analogy further if you feel like it....

Hope you get some clues, also the OP of that thread might hopefully have some more info.

They maybe smaller, yes, but they actually feel bigger because the low tier ships are slower and have shorter ranges. This is why tactics are more important on lower tiers, whereas on the higher tiers, especially at tier X, it's not so much about tactical ability what decides the battles, but the ability to 'exploit' relevant game mechanics. The way I see it, the game resembles more a naval arcade game on the lower tiers than it does on the higher tiers and that's what I'd say is the core problem with WOWS.
