That is an interesting question. Is it stat shaming if you don't do any naming? Did you statement drop the team morale, or did it encourage them to try harder (even if you ended up losing). Basically, anything that helps your team to win is a positive action, anything that hampers it is a negative action. Sometimes it is difficult to see the exact causal relationships.

Well that is one kind of 'effect' I suppose...

I have spotted some odd behaviour lately, too. Sometime only shots fired, but sometimes more deliberate damage. That isn't always deliberate, but sometimes it sure looks like it is.

Simply understand the relation and meaning of cause and effect. This isn't always easy, I have a lot of trouble understanding causal relationships even, or especially, in their simplest forms.

Cause and effect, karma.

That's what always worries me, any system is open to abuse in one way or the other.

Yup. I initially thought the Thunderer might be the kind of HE spammer the Conqueror is, but i most cases it is better to rely on AP. I got both of them, don't really play them very often, though. I don't really enjoy tier X play as much as the mid tiers, so I mostly use my Japanese ships when I go tier X.

I know it's the other end of the spectrum. I wouldn't suggest I do that or anyone who doesn't actually know the game well enough to be able to do that. In most cases it's best to just belt up and wait and see what happens. IMO you should never bring up the suspect of stats while in battle (or mostly not even afterwards in those delightful little messages....)...

Yeah, that's not a good way to start off a battle. If the stats point that way, it's better to start giving guidance and checking if they know what they're supposed to do. After that, if they ignore your advice and directions, it's another matter. But rules are rules nonetheless especially when victimizing is involved.

This because we have to play Game Rules even if in a real life situation a different action might be warranted.

Some games use filters, though. Optional, so you if you have that on, all you see is ****. They'd have to include a lot of different languages and words though, so I guess it might get a little awkward to put into practice.

It should be doable with a mod. I don't know if the flag can be replaced in all the places where a flag shows up in the game, but the ship carousel, captain portrait, and tech tree ensign can be modded. You can, for instance, see the result on captain portrait in my current avatar.

I make a habit of putting one of the available Russian Navy style flags on all my Soviet ships. I am also hoping to collect the ongoing mission reward, the Navy Day flag with the anchor. I haven't modded in the German ensigns, but I do use a mod for the Rising Sun. What I really hope is.. we could at least get the option to pull down certain ensigns in the game...

Yeah.. that is a bit of a problem. I often notice that I get placed on what is the weaker flank. That also means I am the only BB and the one they pick out first due to higher visibility. I should learn to be less aggressive at the start and uhm.. hang out back more for a couple of minutes and hope the enemy is the one to make the mistake of overextending. The problem is.. this is the exact kind of risk averse thinking that often leads to more severe problems.... What's a fellow to do?
