I always thought Pommern was a sailing ship though.

Hehe... well the transformers were part of my growing up experience, along with stuff like M.A.S.K. and Robotech and lots of others including non-cartoon/anime series like Space 1999, the Six Million Dollar Man, the Invisible Man etc. The Star Trek and Buck Rogers I was able to see as reruns, and finally the theatrical releases of the OT Star Wars when they got re-released.

Remind me, is this a proper battleship with enough range and accurate guns or another one of those sawed off shotguns we've seen plenty off?

One of the problems is related with captain skills, specifically the torpedo acceleration which you can easily use with the Asashio but not with other DD's. It is somewhat tempting to make a dedicated captain for the Asashio, because she is fundamentally so different. That will, however, cost points you could otherwise use elsewhere, perhaps more efficiently even.

So would I, but I am currently using a less than 19 pt captain on the Asashio IIRC, and I'll have to see what I can afford after taking the torpedo related skills. In a sense, though, the RDF is a relic. If the enemy team has a semi-competent CV they will hunt you down before you even get close to the optimal torpedo distance.

I hadn't thought about using the RDF that way... I'm not actually sure my regular Asashio captains even have that skill, but I'll have to give it a try. I don't need the minimap to know where the radar cruisers are most of the time, behind a nice big hunk of a rock near an otherwise tempting cap zone. Obviously a trap. And equally obviously my team is pinging the map like crazy and telling me.... to go to that cap.

It's not just the WASD hack, though obviously that makes the torpedoes miss their target. The radar, CV planes, islands and enemy DD's are a factor. If you launch your torpedoes at a safe distance, they get pretty easy to dodge. If you push close enough, you face the enemy screen of gunboat DD's, radar cruisers, that is if you actually got close enough without getting spotted by the CV...

Why don't the Russian BB's have horns like this?
