    What WG have done right

One tier battles are more common now on the high tiers. This gives a little more breathing space for tier 8 which is a good thing.

Yes, the Russian Navy, had it continued to exist, would have IMO deviated from the Soviet Navy in our timeline. It is probably difficult to account for all the relevant factors considering how difficult it would be estimate what kind of resources Russia would have had available. One thing is certain though, if there had been no war for Russia to lose, the country would not have lost a huge chunk of their territory, lots of their population, virtually all of their year round open sea ports, naval dockyards and a devastating loss of their other manufacturing industries along with the lost territory. Not to mention some of their best naval engineers as well. The basic assumption, IMHO, must be that the percentage of real ships in our tree would now be much higher that what it currently is.

Yes, it is correct that in 1914 the Entente powers were getting along, if not out of great love, out of great necessity at least. The French and the Russians were enjoying a very cordial relationship, even as far as, as I remember one anecdote from the summer of 1914, when a group of German navy officers were visiting a Russian ship, the Russians made every effort to make the visit exceedingly uncomfortable, IIRC up to the point of hanging a portrait of Napoleon on the bulkhead. So, if we get major timeline shift around 1914 to 1918, anybody's guess is good enough trying to figure out how things would have played out from then on. In our timeline, for instance, Britain and USA remained rival powers even after the Great War where they had fought on the same side. However, I'd like to point out that we should not perhaps derail this thread too far from the topic @BruceRKF opened the thread for.

Have you noticed if those consumable settings also get deleted when you change your Modstation mods/settings, that is, if you are using Modstation?

Gotta love the matchmaking in this game...

Yeah.. yesterday I missed how our Nagato got the bright idea to start chasing Devonshire across the map leaving me in my t5 BB and a few others to deal with the enemy t7 BB and friends. I think we lost that battle there.

Loot boxes in fifa deemed illegal by Dutch judge

Hmm... I'm curious how the ability to trade ir a bigger issue than the gambling aspect of the loot boxes themselves. I'm looking at this from the point of view of a collector. Whatever you are collecting, the price will depend on availability. That means prices can also vary a lot, but the key component is the ability to buy, trade or sell whatever you are collecting. In this sense, anything we buy from WG is not really 'collectible'. It also has no permanent value, only the value that can be derived from 'consuming' the item.

    Return of the lag spike

Hmm.. I had to resort to a switch of DNS server due to the WG wiki being blocked to me. It almost seems like after that the game runs smoother. Seems, so this anecdotal I haven't tried to test it or anything. I'm currently now switched to using Cloudflare 1.1.1.1. (Hope I got that right, at least, eh @ThePurpleSmurf?)

So, WG does have a sense of humor after all...

It's probably not a sea worthy design, then. Perhaps only for the Baltic Fleet? But a ship of that size would get stuck all over the place. Maybe the Baltic Archipelagoes hide the clue to WG's map design logic....

I spotted W. Voss in battle! Along with C. Colombo (and Tone earlier too in another battle). @Excavatus and me found ourself on the same team also. We gave our all and were amply rewarded for our successes. Because of his Sekret Ship he can't talk about it though.. right? Er... nobody here was on the opposing team... ?

That would seem logical. For Russia, the army would have been a priority over the navy, as you said, and I don't think they would have tried to challenge the leading naval powers to an arms race, either. It is indeed hard to say how treaties would have gone, though something like the Washington Treaty would have been inevitable, considering that the US Navy would have reach parity with the RN, I think in any time line. One intriguing aspect is that in real life, our time line, Russia and Japan formulated a treaty after long negotiations in late 1916. If there'd been no revolution, especially not the October coup, that would have changed things dramatically in the Pacific and the Far East.

The lootboxes are addictive, however I'm less opposed to the kind of lootboxes that give you doubloons, as those are always useful to have and can be further exchanged for something you want. If the box is filled up with all kinds of other stuff you may not have wanted, it's a problem. Also, gambling not also implies a chance to win but also, signficantly, a chance to lose. As long as the lootbox value exceeds the price of the contents, you won't be actually losing even when not getting what you may have hoped for. The addictive side of it may still be a problem, though.

Makes sense. The problem with adding 'alternate history' thinking is you're always extrapolating on shifting variables (my fancy way of saying you are making fiction based on educated guesses). There would be two major alternate time lines. 1) No Great War and 2) No Russian Revolution. The first one would produce a really dramatic change, and the second one would also have implications beyond just Russia. It is highly probable based on what some sources have alleged (IIRC), that the Russian economy would have eventually grown very strong under such time lines, and probably become the most dominant in Europe and fairly strong also in global terms. Under both these times lines, then, I would assume there would have been no lack of resources or funding, and certainly no lack of shipbuilding expertise, so the strength of the Russian Navy would have been dictated not by resources but by strategic needs. Based on that, I don't expect it to have rivalled the Royal Navy in terms of size, but certainly in terms of their technical capabilities. It is entirely possible (excuse me for this WeeGeeish phrase) that the kind of Soviet fantasy ships we've been catered to in WoWS, might have actually been built in real life if they'd been built for the Russian Navy.

    CRITICAL ERROR

For starters, I'd suggest the usual: remove mods, run check and repair/WGcheck etc. There is also a thread I remember dealing with probs that might be related or not.. https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/141664-recent-problem-with-game/#comment-3652048 The update itself works with the usual bugs, so the only thing that could have gone wrong is something got corrupted during download or installation, assuming the game worked prior to today.
