This was probably due to those BB missions. I was there with a cruiser trying to spot torps. I imagine a lot of people were doing those missions that required you to do damage with BB's.

Yesterday my problem was the opposite, not enough DD's but too many BB's around in Coop.

I was out with my Richelieu yesterday, was effectively bow tanking against the whole enemy flank with a few BB's, one to two cruisers and at least one DD lurking somewhere. I wasn't alone, of course, there were a couple of other ships of my team around to help me. We denied the enemy both the cap and the flank holding them off long enough to allow our other flank to win the battle for us. Once the enemy was free to focus on me, I didn't last long, but till then it was effective. It was one of those situations where you had to decide weather to stay committed or not, and staying committed was the smart option.

Not sure what you are saying, but what I tried to imply was that they hang out back because they don't want to become targets for HE spam without an option for counter play. Is a DD division completely counter-intuitive? I've always imagined that a 3 DD division (especially with voice connection) would wreak complete havoc in battle. Guilty.. I do that too... I'm either way too cautious or completely reckless a little too often. I've been trying to stay within what I intrepret as the 'effective range' on my BB's, meaning maintaining distance to enemy cruisers and capital ships that is somewhere between my maximum gun range and concealment.

You get the feeling while you trying to win the match your team is working hard to throw it? I sometimes start playing 'fire director' for the team, but the downside is I don't really have any time left to shoot myself so, while the team wins, I get a poor result.

Perhaps the incoming subs will change the pace of things?

Yes.. that's what I had in mind. Pushing leaves you open to enemy picking off your ships unless your team knows what they are doing. Conversely, camping leaves your ships vulnerable to the advancing enemy if they know how to push. Map control really matters for the caps, and for flanking and not being caught in crossfire. One problem with the teams is they don't know how to evaluate their chances. They push against superior numbers when there is no chance. That's a fairly basic mistake to make, and usually easily avoided if you care to. It is much harder to gauge when you need to push with your weaker flank against the enemy's stronger flank.

Well.. apart from securing or at least denying enemy the caps, pushing itself brings no benefit over camping. The only thing that matters is which team is able to concentrate their fire power where it counts the most at each given time.

On the contrary, they have learned that pushing towards enemy will reward the enemy HE spammers behind islands, behind more islands, in smoke, in another smoke, close to map border, in smoke or behind islands or possibly both.

How's that possible? Surely Premium ships guarantee Premium results!

Forgot to file my report here yesterday! I don't always manage well with my Öland, I need a solid team that doesn't leave their DD's hung out to dry, and a bit of luck. Though in that battle luck counts as managing to survive the repeated advances of your CV... You seemed to be enjoying a nice quick outing with your Hipper. Yeah, we had the Purple Advantage. IIRC I collected the Dreadnaught badge from that battle. Cheers!
