The thing that worries me is that the Smaland is even less of a torpedo boat than the Halland. Across the board, I regularly do worse with gunboat DD's than with torpedo DD's.

Yeah, the lifespan of each game would depend on how good it was at launch, how it was developed, and how well it can retain players vs. newer releases. WoWS is very much a niche game, so there is less competition than with your typical MMO's. Maybe that's a bad thing for game health though....

Cruisers are not always doing their job, nor are some DD's. Some BB players can really hit hard with incredible accuracy, as long as the DD's and cruisers are doing what needs to be done, especially in terms of spotting and screening. The problem is, that you really only see credits and XP from certain actions, and support roles don't really pay off well.

Logically though, you'd expect both teams to suffer from the same problems when it comes to player skill distribution, so.... something's amiss. On the plus side, a heavy steamroll is preferable to an agonizingly slow implosion.

This is one of those reasons why the operations work so much better (most of the time) than the randoms. They are scripted, of course, but they also provide the team with clear primary and secondary objects that they need to fulfill. Most randoms, on the contrary, are pseudotactical spamfests rather than proper battles. They can be played out as battles, but that happens very rarely, and only with teams where the majority of the players have such a preference.

He can put it in the appropriate technical lingo for you, I personally could only tell you that I suspect that Gargamel and Azrael have felled a few trees or done something else to your hop path. As the servers were up (at least in the past few hours) and there weren't any problems for me, I suspect the problem is somewhere outside of the servers themselves.

On Richelieu, if someone is still doubting whether this ship is good or not, it can perform really well even for... somewhat average players like myself, even in tier X battles.

No, but you need to be a little careful when you are pink. Often playing 3 Coops is the easiest and quickest way of getting rid of said 'fashion statement'.
