    Remember that the caps in the game are an artificial feature designed with battle resolution in mind. For this reason, the weaker team cannot win by capping, and the stronger team cannot lose by not capping. Remember, too, that the teams are not always of equal strength, neither in terms of the ships (MM cannot guarantee that because of the different characteristics) or specifically the players. In short, unless there is wild amount of RNG involved (or luck), the better team always prevails.

    I sometimes have to be some kind of Man Friday for my team, in an effort to keep things going on. I bling the map, I bling the targets, I shoot left and right, I smoke up (in a DD and spot too!)... I usually end up with a less good result even if it is a win, because I can't actually focus on the team and individual aspects of play all that well at the same time.

    You might want to ask @Elon_Musk what he's been up to lately... But yeah, the team compositions are a problem, somewhat changed by the ongoing mission requirements but they can, of course, equally likely make the situation worse, too. Depending on in which order most of the player base is doing them. I sometimes amuse myself with the thought of having the sort of MM that feeds bots into the teams, even in randoms, to guarantee adequate numbers of cruisers and destroyers. I still have to say 'caps don' win games' because I can't even count the times when my team has capped either 2/3 or all 3 caps and still manage to lose... because they get sunk by the enemy team. I agree that you can't ignore the caps because sometimes you fail to sink the entire enemy team, and even if you happen to take the caps later on the enemy has massed enough points to win when the battle time runs out. It is about priorities, denying a cap is sometimes sufficient to carry you to victory.

    Yes, I know DD's can decide the battle if they survive till the end. No, I still can't hit them reliably enough to destroy them except with a lot of luck. They really get into my secondaries range, so what I try to do is hit or hamper them unless I am tracking a capital ship or a cruiser. What I'm also counting on is that ships with a higher RoF will engage the DD.

    Anything strange about that? It's much harder to hit a small, maneuverable target than a big slow target when you got something like a 30 second reload. Do you prioritise the DD's, or the targets you know you can (more likely) hit and damage?

    When I complain about the HE/fire problem (from a BB pov) people regularly bring up how they 'removed stealth fire'. However, IMO, back in those days HE and fires seemed to be far less of a problem than it is nowadays. Go figure. Overall, I think the game balance was much better in the 'old days'.

    I'd rather need Dazzle close up than far away. In most knife fights (even before this) the enemy DD seemed to have laser guided guns whereas mine were more like shot guns... Yup, agreed. This percentage based buff is garbage.

    Saw @DariusJacek on the opposing team, or rather, he spotted me... and so did most of their team so I ended up doing an impressive 3.6k damage and getting sunk....

    Highly.. mathematical in places.. but the one thing that stands out is what I kind of already noticed, are the percentage base skills that in LWM's words tend to give 'more benefit to those that need it less'.

    Whatever floats your boat. I'm trying to use this time to figure out some rules of thumbs for different ship classes. In a sense, what I think are the skills I can best make use of without wasting any points on expensive mistakes.

    When picking the skills, I suggest look at what they actually do to the ship stats to figure out if it is smart or not. For instance, -10% of DD main gun reload time may seem like a good idea until you realize how little it means in practice. It may be of use for some, but unless you can actually keep firing without any pause, you lose the advantage you spent points on.
