A fun ship for me is one that is capable of counteracting the enemy while pursuing a tactical advantage and fighting to win the battle. Too few ships (if any, actually), meet that criteria IMO.... I'd be essentially happier if the game were balanced more towards protracted battles than trashy fast food experience.

Could be, this is how the Andrea Doria appears for me with the 'Decorative' camo equipped, with the 'Decorative' filter on (looks the same with filter turned off) with the Modstation settings applied. It's as if there was no camo at all On the other hand, the Roma with the Type 10 Camo equipped looks like this:

Yes, Step 1 is 1600 base xp in one battle. No can do. BTW, I had used the Korean stream code, it seams all these codes give the same mission, so you only get one combat mission regardless of how many codes you get, unless I'm very much mistaken.

With these missions, I never actually get to clear even the first step.

It would be best if we had a simple 'Turn off all camos' or something like that in the game, I mean visually off, not functionally. I'd like that as the best option. As for the Modstation, I was against using it for many years, but now that I am using it I find it very easy to use and reliable as well. I'd only recommend not using the official Modstation if you wanted to stay all vanilla on principle.

By turning off do you mean using the filter options? I don't actually see if that works now, because I'm using the Modstation camo options which changes a lot of the in game camos into 'less hazardous for your eyes' type of muted camos.

Well... that would be a universal problem, do we know anyone who plays WoWS and does not have those problems?

Also, it seems he knows how to fix it ( Ryzen 5950X; uncertain availability now, though available for EU markets last year) to improve his rig's performance to the levels he needs for it to cope with the kind of resolutions he wants to play WoWS on. It also seems he does not know why deficient HW resources should cause a system crash. Thankfully, as one of the low IQ crowd, I don't really need to know either.

If the problem is with custom screen resolutions only, I'm leaning towards thinking it is due to a hardware conflict, the rig simply cannot handle them and stay stable. I'd be sceptical it being due to WoWS encoding, because that would imply they handle screen resolutions somehow differently from any other software out there, and if they actually did that, a lot of people would be having this sort of problems.

I'm not insisting it is broken, I said that was what I initially thought. If you can rule out some causes (such as PSU or GPU), you can narrow down the potential causes. Bios update and Nvidia driver update/reinstall are possible fixes, but I think you've already thought up those anyway. Not necessarily HW then, but it could still be motherboard/cables etc. there, but in those cases it might be be more universal, not a techie myself.

You can't rule out a hardware problem based on what problems one or another software causes you, because not all software will make use of your HW resources the same way. A new PSU is less likely to fail than an old one, but it is possible it is still faulty. My only experiences with crash + hard reboot involved a faulty PSU (and exactly one game, no problems with anything else), so I'm kind of biased thinking it is in some way related to power management. I've also encountered problems cause by a failing mother board, but in my case this triggered an 'case open' alert so the problem was not exactly the same.

Never gonna get 5 stars out of Newport it being what it is, more like an exercise in masochism than an actual operation if you ask me, but OP likes it... I used to play operations a lot more, probably due to 3 reasons: I was grinding a lot of mid tiers at the time; I never liked to play cruisers in random, so I often opted to play them in operations, instead; and finally, and perhaps more importantly, we had more operations involving more tiers providing welcome variety both in terms of the operations themselves, but also to relive the grinding monotony of the randoms. Things were some much better in the good old days.

Quite. To make even more frustrating, if possible, and anything is possible when it comes to WG (except getting what we want, it seems), there are those constant 'Battle events' that pop up in the calendar. You'd be excused for thinking how amazing it would be to have rotating scenarios, for instance, that are set to portray those historical battles and engagements.... but no, this is WG, so instead we get template grind missions where the only thing that rotates is the event label...
