german wwI battleships missing armourment
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Broe116's topic in General Discussion
Okay, so... should Spee be a cruiser or a BB in this game then, it doesn't seem to fit either of those classes very well. -

german wwI battleships missing armourment
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Broe116's topic in General Discussion
Well.. wikipedia says this: " During her repairs after being torpedoed in October 1941, Nelson had her torpedo tubes and UP rocket launchers removed... ", having googled around some people suggest they were a relic, bit like an appendix, by WW2, not really useful having a range so limited that no enemy battleship would ever get that close, and a hazard to the ship's hull integrity itself. That leads to the question, if for reasons of balance they were removed in the game, why do some ships still have them... as 'gimmicks'? As selling points? Aren't they all premium ships? Maybe I'm wrong but can't remember a single non-premium BB with torpedoes. -
Something weird about stress in WoWs vs. WoT

Knowing WoT it most likely won't.... -

Only the high tier Legendary Soviet Battleships of the Glorious Red Workers and Peasants Navy are historically accurate. All other battleships get the World of Fantasyships treatment. As others have pointed out, they consider this to be an arcade game which apparently means that any (non-Soviet) battleship must be vulnerable even to someone throwing a kitchen sink at it from a passing slow boat to China. -
Something weird about stress in WoWs vs. WoT
Karasu_Browarszky replied to EnacheV's topic in General Discussion
Funny, as I have typically found it to be the opposite. I mostly attribute to factors like game speed, reaction time, and complexity of the map design. I can still blow a fuse (or more) in WoWS, mind you, but it's more like the stress peaks there and then it's over, whereas playing WoT is more like being under constant pressure, so I don't really get the release either. -
Well, it's nice to get constructive replies, though, your position of what is false or not is at least as subjective as mine. In other words, I need to point out the fallacies in your thinking as well. If we say you want the subs in the randoms and I don't want to see subs in the randoms, both points of views are subjective and their validity will be determined not by us, not even by the devs, but more like by the testers in the first instance and by the community in the final outcome. That will see the respective 'fallacies' all sorted out. I'm actually fairly confident the testers will come up with an objective evaluation, at least as far as game mechanics and balance are considered. However, I'm less confident WG will listen to the testers... You have your reasons for getting the subs, I have my reasons for being opposed. I'm open as to my reasons, and they fall into two categories; firstly, game balance and mechanics, which is probably that most people are focusing on, and secondly, they don't fit into my take on what a naval battle game should be like, where I'm likely in the minority. In short, I don't want them in the randoms, at least not the sort of randoms we have for now, if they were to split the randoms into different categories, it would be a different story, but I fear they don't have a sufficient player base to do that. Whereas operations could easily be constructed around submarine warfare. I was mostly talking about balancing the AI, but they appear to also change the AI ship stats themselves, but that's just based on my observations I have no data to back it up. Why am I still here? I think the technical term is 'inertia', another I could think up is 'sunk cost fallacy'. Why am I here in the first place? I started playing WoT back 2013, still around 2015 WoT was a pretty good game (which is no longer is) and it made sense to try out WoWS as you could use the same account and share the premium time on both titles. Also, back in 2015 WoWS was a very good game showing great promise, whereas now in 2021 it is a title with a great future behind itself. I have given some consideration to the 'Other Game' but when I last looked it did not seem worth while to switch over. Things may change, of course. We will see what happens. You'll be happy if WG brings the subs in the randoms, but if they mangle the game as a result, your position will be shown to be 'false', would you still be happy nonetheless, no matter the outcome? For my own part, I can at least say that before drawing my own conclusions I will wait to see what the effect on game health will be like, before conclusively making up my mind. Having said that, I still won't want them in the randoms, but I also have to say I don't like the randoms very much anyway, the way they are now. If it turns out that the game will benefit from the subs that will put me in a right pickle because my 'philosophy' will still state their role in naval warfare must be limited, and the randoms as we know them aren't really good at limiting combat roles. Unlike operations. The bottom line, I'm not in any way opposed to other people getting to enjoy the game, even sub players, but I don't that to happen at my expense.

I was talking about game logic too...

I've grown a little tired with walls of text, if you don't mind, so I intend to cut this a little short. If you don't know how different balancing is for PvE and PvP modes I can't help you with that. There is no reason for subs not to work in operations, the difficulty, as always, will come from how the AI will need to programmed. They can't be either too easy, or too difficult to play. That's a fairly simple principle and I believe it could be worked out if WG felt inclined to do it. There's no indication, however, that they'd bother to do that as they've yet to redesign the operations that featured CV's. I don't care if you call my position biased or not. I don't see a way how they could implement the subs in the randoms in such a way that playing the subs would feel meaningful while not breaking what little remains of the game balance. To date, I've seen nothing (including in your walls of text) that would convince me otherwise. I would need to be convinced that there is a good reason for having them in the randoms, or actually, an overriding reason is a better way of putting it. You are correct about the state of CV play. You may even be correct that the subs will be able to counter them, that is not what concerns me, though. I do realize I'm not the one that needs to be convinced, this is up to the devs. However, as is the case with every other player, WG needs to convince us that it remains to be worthwhile for us to spend any money on this game. My personal opinion is that if they 'force', 'shoehorn' or 'introduce' the subs in the randoms I won't be spending a red cent on this game. (Not that I intend to spend much anyway, the game being what it is these days.) Perhaps you and your friends will pick up the tab?

Better use a ticket or PM one of the staff here, this is potentially naming and shaming (even if they seem to deserve it...). Oh, and welcome to the forums!

is possible from from basic Italian conteners get anything than signals?
Karasu_Browarszky replied to VedranSeaWolf359's topic in General Discussion
I assume OP is only talking about the Premium ones. Bought one, got some signals or camos, don't remember which. Don't plan to buy any more, just happy with the silver containers I get free. Some are nice, got 150 doubloons from one of those. And they are FREEEE! Just not like the Puerto Rico..... -

Got the message too... I think I will pass up on this tantalizing possibility. -
Still, the impression that WoWS gives is that warships are like torched ice cream flambé that literally melt under fire.

Maps are a little small, and filled with left over rocks from the Star Wars asteroid fields... It might be interesting if they at least changed the spawning so that the teams would sail in from diagonally opposed map corners.

Gawd that sounds bloody awful. So, basically, we might just as well have fluffy bunnies, pink, purple and of varying colours flinging rotten eggs at each other?

Axis vs Allies another well thought WG mode

So... we are now moving from our regular Russian bias to Allied bias... ... what an interesting tectonic shift... Cheers! TBH, I often feel like preferring bots to human team mates. -

If you are referring to the empty space in OP's post, Firefox is having an 'issue' with pasted content, been going on for a few weeks now. If I want to see what's on this page I have to switch to another browser. On topic, no idea what this is about as I'm seeing blank space, but I'm telling my fleet turn the boilers on, swap the decks and ready for battle! @OldschoolGaming_YouTube I don't plan to fall in with the majority -
This is exactly the position I have in regard to the subs, and for this reason I entered into a protracted sub battle with Sunleader in the Mode suggestion convoy where our positions are exactly diametrically opposed, meaning the debate is pretty much fruitless and going nowhere. (No reason to repeat it in this thread.) For me, subs in convoy operations would be a thumbs up, subs in the randoms would be a thumbs down. The question then is, is it a good or a bad idea to introduce one more illogical element into the randoms or not. If you look at this simply on the level of gameplay meta (disengaged from the reality of naval warfare) and ignore the utterly broken logic of having subs in the randoms, the only relevant argument IMO is whether it will improve or worsen the current state of the game. I admit that a have a realism bias (fetish) when it comes to the game, so I'm curious to get a broader understanding and input from people who have more extensive knowledge of the various complexities of this simplest of arcade game on the level of game mechanics and who do not have a pre-existing bias one way or the other (EDIT: or if they do they say it out loud and don't wait till the last post before letting it slip out). How would the subs fit into all this in the randoms? I shut up for now and listen.

Yeah, could be. I just wish the game would give some sort of notification of that happening, like with containers etc.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
@Bender76048kactually was the one who spotted me today. We might have even won the battle if it hadn't been for the enemy Colbert.. and our BB's.... ... man, our BB's.... -
Yeah, codes are always nice so thanks for providing them. The mystery for me is that the code was accepted, yet it didn't seem to provide anything.
