    Commander Skills

Well, there's not much reason to get your knickers in a twist over captain skills as it is. None of the builds are as good as pre-rework builds were, or if they come close they cost an extra 1-2 points to have. Which, incidentally, is about as much as you need to re-elite your previous 19 pt commanders.... And the game's a clown show no matter what skills you pick anyway.
  2. As a side note, I've skipped assigning the captain points on most of my captains, especially the cruisers but also other classes. Only on those ships and some higher point captains have a tried to come up with 'safe builds', mostly based on LWM's recommendations on BB and DD captain skills.
  3. Rework of the Captain skills Rework? You guys should make extensive use of Cap's services. No skills involved!

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

In my last battle I spotted some Red planes flying towards my DD... and a familiar nic to go with them... the legendary El Zazer, Terror of the Seven Maps... didn't need to spot much after a couple of attacks.. @El2aZeR I'm now safely back on the forum.

    What’s your most annoying thing?

Right now.. absolutely r******ed teams. I mean, even by my standards. Absolutely pathetic. (Does not apply to the red team.)

Yup. Yeah... they do that. I don't actually mind the spotting, because as long as they fire at those cruisers, it's a win-win for me. Other DD players have some magical gimmick where they can remove like 10k hps off my DD in a second, don't know how, so on the other hand I like our team to start shooting at the spotted enemy DD. The other team can do it (obviously, as they frequently do that to my DD...), why can't my team do it? Yup... Yes.. sometimes advice can be helpful, but it can also be a problem if you don't learn the why's as well as the what's. Sometimes it seems some players are following some plan they've picked up from some video, and they stick to it without any intention of reacting to what the enemy is doing (who have not, as it seems, watched the same video). Östergotland is not my favourite DD by any means, I much prefer Öland and Småland out of the four top tier Swedish DD's, Öland in particular. Uhm... I know I should play more of those T5 and T6, using premiums I can bring my better captains into play, or train my mid tier captains, perhaps, at least after the point I have maxed at least some of my high tier captains. What sucks is the captain point inflation, the same build that previously cost 19 pts now costs 20 pts, leaving you with a mostly useless 21st point that you will need nonetheless for fully trained captain. The biggest problem, though, I am not so sure what is relevant at tiers 5 and 6 is still relevant on the high tiers, you may even pick up some bad habits that you will get punished for in the more demanding high tier environment (even if the greatest challenge is often posed by your own team). Mastering some general concepts that can be applied across the board is likely possible, but is there an actual benefit to doing that on mid tiers as opposed to high tiers?

It is actually kind of relaxing to have the chat off... I don't think I play any better, though, but the only distractions I now have to deal with are 'surprise factors'.

    Ghost ship in Raptor rescue?

IIRC you can't shoot at it, you have to manually aim your torps at it, it keeps going between those two islands back and forth.

Empirically speaking, if the situation is that I am often one of the best players on my team on tiers 8 to 10, it speaks volumes of the overall quality of players there.....
  17. Is this another April Fools joke? Ironically, WG bosses always have a good laugh when they read the bank statement on account balance.

This ^ is by far the worst thing about the meta. The game sometimes seems to punish the team that plays better, because the team that wins is the one that avoids direct combat. It's a topsy-turvy World of Warshi*s we got, mates.

Well, hindsight 20 20 but.. I might have just hit the block button and carry on... but for some reason never occurred to me till too late. So... don't know, maybe turn the chat on after a few days and develop an automatic blocking reflex for future benefit...

Yeah.. sometimes I probably do get reported for a valid reason. That actually bothers me a lot less than being reported for no reason. Guess that is Karma balance... as crappy as the game balance too.

When playing a DD, it's usually clear they want the closest DD to go and fight for the cap. I sometimes do this, usually expecting to get promptly sunk. That is one aspect of DD play that I've never learned, prolly never will either. They don't usually inform anyone of their HP status, whereas I have sometimes done that, both my own HP and enemy HP (trying to encourage them to actually finish the job). I make huge mistakes kind of regularly. Like my last battle just now, sitting on a blocked cap a friendly DD an another blocked cap called for help against a Mogador. So... I responded, and the Mogador turned out to be a much better player and he hands friends close by too. Whereas I, as usual, didn't. I always perform much worse when I'm pushed out of my comfort zone... which for me means as open water as possible, not closed off caps, rocks, or other obstacles that prevent me from turning when I want to turn.

Most teams I play with, though, have kind of managed to lose by the time the battle countdown ends... no amount of coordination would save those teams. While you have a point, the teams that have the potential to win will probably coordinate their actions. I don't necessarily need to see the chat to be able to play along. In most battles I think I know my limits and strengths, and will play accordingly.

Not sure if I care, but they piss me off (which I don't like) and that means I get distracted (which I really don't like). I'm barely average, I can't afford to get distracted in battle or I will do much much worse than what I otherwise do, on average. There's always room for improvement. But if they aren't even telling me what I do wrong, what's the point. Sometimes to me the suggestions they bring up seem debatable as I can't be in two places at the same time, I don't know where the enemy or even my own team is going to be because at times, they don't do what other teams do. I have to make my decisions based on where I think I will be most useful. Typically, in my case, it isn't going out there to look for trouble and ending in up in a sweet spot for half the enemy team to focus on. I have to pace my own actions and try to be sharp, and even then I make mistakes in terms of positioning. EDIT: Last battle, I was distracted by the enemy DD and got suprised in the end, but I had managed to do this prior to that point.

That could work, cheers! Well, I perhaps I wouldn't either, but a) it felt like it started to happen every battle and b) I didn't feel like I had deserved it, might have been different I had accidentally torped half my team or something. I don't like being singled out, in other words. I don't always do well, but sometimes I do. I don't need anyone starting to effectively guess how I will manage in a given situation. Perhaps it is more the reports than the actual chat that I found more toxic. In other words, we are talking about psychology here.
