why moderator blocks this thema? 21 points captain
Karasu_Browarszky replied to citaDELer's topic in General Discussion
I don't understand what you saying so... First, you are saying that when you reset a line something happens to your captains? -
I see, so the problem is with the overall game design which is flawed IMO. It depends what people find interesting and what they find boring. Some people may, for instance, not exactly sure why or how exactly they do it, find it tremendously exciting to park their ship (much as they would be watching a movie at a drive-in theatre, or perhaps, a sail-in theatre more appropriately) and start lobbing ammo at the red ships from the cover of their island... or from cover of smoke in case there is no comfy rock at hand. I don't, of course. As I've often said previously, I prefer gunnery driven dynamic tactical engagements (no, my aim sucks but I still like that aspect because this is supposed to be a wargame) packed with at least a token of that excitement that the WoWS trailers misleadingly seem to promise. Perhaps that could be called 'creative advertizing'? I don't know how you want to play the game, but what I said about situation awareness goes, regardless of how you or anyone else is playing. If you are willing to take a gamble and the risk that goes along with it, you may play your Yamato differently from the way WG's stale gameplay mechanics are set and see if you can have more fun that way. It won't always work, though, so unless you're clearly and unmistakably better than I am, be prepared to suck a lot of the time. IMO, nonetheless it's better to play the way you want to play, cause that's where the fun is. At least for me.

Well... first GZ on getting the Yamato, the only actually real tier X BB in the game. I'm not sure why you find the Yamato problematic as opposed to the Musashi, the differences between them are not big enough to make them feel that much different, or that you IMO would need to play them differently. You should check if you have the optimal captain build, regardless, and equipment choices as well. Different people may want to play these ships differently, my own preference is relatively active, but circumstance may at some stages force you to adopt a more cautious approach. While both are easily among the best BBs in the game, they are not invincible and you will need to keep an eye on enemy ships, positions, your team and your own position in relation to all of those. There is a difference between tiers 9 and 10 which is that the latter tends you punish you for any mistakes, yours or your team, more severely. It can also reward you more handsomely for any mistakes by the enemy. Having said that, I can't say if I prefer tier 9 or 10 more myself. I prefer certain ships, and with other lines I rather go 10, with others I stick to 9.

Why did they ruin the Thunderer?

I both agree and disagree. I don't play the game because of 'free stuff', not sure if anyone does TBH... However, since the resources at my disposal, free or non-free, are limited, making mistakes and/or wasting them annoys me, whether this is due to an error of mine, wrong information, or someone or something retroactively changing something as in the case of nerfs. It is a psychological thing. -

Same. The free stuff is rendered meaningless unless the game is something you enjoy spending your time on. But IMO you can't completely ignore the economy side of things in an MMO. In a single player game, it's entirely different. -
Wtf. Did these guys really need a buff? And here I was excited for this line and hopeful of this mechanic

Why did they ruin the Thunderer?
Karasu_Browarszky replied to DocSnyder2016's topic in General Discussion
Yes, that is one part of the equation which is why I said 'best use' of them. If you think ships are the best way to use them, then ships it be. That would lead us to the whole 'digital goods' argument; to date I still don't know how those are really handled in terms of consumer protection. So would I, but IMO the problems the game balance are elsewhere. Mind you, when it comes to the issue of the Thunderer spamming HE specifically, I know (from personal experience...) this has been a problem. I just don't think this nerf will fix the problem because the root of the cause is elsewhere. Time is money. It's only 'free' if you place no value on your time or the grind you do for the resources. I know this sounds fairly counterintuitive when we are talking about a game which, by definition, are not work but a pastime and are fun and engaging and... well... -

Well, in game resources are still limited, so IMO you have to think how to best make use of them. If you factor nerfs into the equation, it complicates things. What you need to remember is that resources are not distributed evenly and some people need more time to harvest an amount equal to that gathered by the better players in a much shorter time. That also includes the three daily resource containers which is an important 'source' for coal. As for 'throwing' your hard earned cash at the company in question, I think it's best to say that this is a 'separate consideration'. -

Karasu_Browarszky replied to DocSnyder2016's topic in General Discussion
I like it a little less. Mind you, I could even accept nerfing premium ships, as long as it was necessary due to balance reasons, entirely above board and suitably compensated, in terms of doubloons or other applicable in game currency such as coal. As it is, we are in a situation where special ships can be nerfed along with the newly released premium ships which, unlike the old premiums, now carry a warning which you need to take into account when buying these newer ships. Yet, I'm not aware of any information on WG policy on compensation in case should these said premiums be nerfed at a later date. This makes me personally wary of buying premium, or special ships, as it is currently. -
Yes and no, that fix would not work very well. I'd say you'd have to overhaul the whole spotting mechanics and change the game balance, but not everyone here would welcome those changes.

Well, one point I think we are ignoring is how much do we like it if WG changes the stats on 'Special Ships'? Not just this instant, I mean overall. -

In praise of new "Ranked" system - IMHO it is the best repeating event thing the WG did in years!

I have the thunderer, but can't remember what I have equipped (I hope it's not the range module... ).. up to this what would have been the best equipment choice for that slot? -

The extra range is not very accurate, but comes in handy at times. Especially against cruisers hiding behind islands, which kind of leads me to suspect that is the reason. -

One of my many cousins used to draw up pictures with guys who looked like those in the bar. Sailors, too, very appropriately for this game, perhaps I should post some of his drawings here. -
Question regarding the "Operations" in latest WoWs v0.10.4 - some Reddit WoWs players reported extremely low BaseXP values after 5 Star wins...

Base XP. A good point, important to remember that when comparing results. -
