Just wondering what their special gimmick might be... Stalin-guided missile bombers?
-
I so much love your posts, Beast-san. Not sure about Yamato and Musashi, though. I've been trying to find some pics or info about their appearance. Yamato is usually quoted as being 'Kure grey'. In some images the Musashi looks as if it had a very dark, subdued pattern. Not quite what we have in the game which I suspect is more likely some semi-generic paint that WG cooked up themselves.

.. nor the Soviet.

I'd definitely welcome an option to use historical camos. Never been a fan of the ice cream confetti look any more than the seafood restaurant display look.

USERMUSIC is being removed in 0.10.6 !!!!!!

What you think, could we get an option to open our own lootboxes? I'd love that bit of functionality in the game. -
How could I have forgotten the curse word of the century.
-
You do that with merchantmen in convoys... not warship convoys. Yikes! I doubt the secondaries could hit anything, and yeah they probably have limited depression but what the range is... maybe someone knows, or if WG even cares...

Cousin Hans-Dietrich was there... Wonder if the high losses were due to the explosion or the capsizing that happened so fast. There must have been ships near, though. Note the words 'destroyer screen', btw.

What if... what if the subs were to spawn behind the enemy?
-
Heyy! My (very distant) cousin Herbert is in that movie! I could mention another (very distant) cousin of mine, but... only if nobody here's ever heard of HMS Barham...
-
Yes, the 'Carrier Battles'. But, in order for that work, of course they'd have to be attacking the enemy CV's, and that may be expecting too much.
-
If those BB's are like me, I don't really blame them for staying back, because I know what will happen if you push and get HE spam focused. Admittedly, staying back won't help you in the long run, if your team allows the HE spammers to push to mid map positions. Think of it as a chess game, if you will, because that's the only way of trying to make sense of it as we don't really have proper engagements except in maybe 5 to 10 per cent of the battles.
-
Well, IMHO we should have a separate 'Carrier Battles' mode and fix this gripe for good. But that's just me.
-
Well, having tried out both the pre-rework and reworked CV's, I have to say they made the class much easier to play (which is another way of saying they dumbed it down). I'm not sure which is better for the overall health of the game, though...
-
Or, if you take my position, about the way they are inherently flawed.
-
Finally a sensible discussion! It is obvious, though less obvious for many, that the CV's are only a convenient scapegoat and a distraction designed to deflect attention from the core issues in the game along with the fact that when it builds up frustration, the well stocked Premium Shop is there to provide instant satisfaction and consolatory purchase opportunities with the (honest) flip of a card.

Why Grand Battle is a great idea badly implemented
Karasu_Browarszky replied to SodaBubbles's topic in General Discussion
The secondaries have a couple of downsides, they are (usually) ineffectual, and you need to 'spot' the target so have something to shoot at. Dodgy spotting mechanics at work... which is why I'm actually seriously thinking about becoming more of a cruiser/DD player even though the cruiser part of it is decidedly masochistic... -

Kronstadt and Alaska are among those few real heavy cruisers we got in this game. IIRC, the rest are more or less only gunwise, lacking decent armour. -

I don't really mind. It's a welcome change to see people even more inept than me in battle. Makes me look good! -

By default, I try to run torpedo DD's with the torps selected. Only switching to guns when I have to. -

Unbelievably enough, there are people here who see nothing 'funny' about with this. -

Well, some of us would actually like to play Grand Naval Battles in the WG Bathtub.... this isn't it, but it is nice variety. However, if you use this mode for grinding tier 9's, I suggest securing the first win bonus in the randoms first, because Grand Battles don't award it. -

Yes, I think that is smart habit to pick up. Always assume there is a DD or possibly a cruiser with longe range torps out there (unless they are all gone, of course). Change course and/or speed as much as you can while taking care of not to expose yourself to long range gun fire. That's one reason, BTW, why I hate the islands so much, no matter what class of ship I am on, because they prevent 'smart' maneuvering and, unless you hit one (which is bad), they make you make stupid moves that can cost a lot. -

Have you ever encountered those 6th sense BB's that go in straight line for minutes, but turn 1 second after you have fired all your torps?....
